Unmilitary Two-Step (Rory Gallagher) - guitar tutorial with tab
A tutorial of sorts - how to play Unmilitary Two-Step by the great Rory Gallagher.
Apologies for the old-school video quality - if I end up making more of these I might invest in a decent camera! Let me know what you think in the comments below and feel free to ask any questions.

One thing to note is that in the second section, where I play the F7 bar chord and then move to the D7, playing the bass F# with my middle finger, you might find it easier to play the bass notes with your thumb. If I was learning it now, that’s what I’d do, but I’ve been playing it this way for years and it seems the muscle memory can’t be undone!

RJ is perhaps something of a sacred cow among the old bluesmen (case in point: one of RUclips's suggested tags for this video is "canonical version"), but I think it turned out rather well. Recorded in Peter's flat in Lille, while procrastinating - next stop Haute-Avenses!

I've been learning a lot of slow, rhythmic, civilised blues of late, so this chaotic, punky little number is something of a reaction to that.

Calliope Rag. Written in around 1910 by James Scott, but left unfinished. It was later discovered and finsihed by ragtime revivalist Robert "Ragtime Bob" Darch. It was arranged for guitar by Tom Thomason in 1975 and you can find the tab for this and a whole load of other ragtime tunes here: www.ragtime.nu/guitar.htm

Damn, I just spotted a mistake in the tab :( At the 0:51 mark, the chord at the end of the line should have a 3 on the high E, not 1 - sorry! It's my first ever tab, it was bound to happen
Also, at 0:23, on the D7 chord, I think the 3 then 1 should be on the b string rather than the high e. But this is awesome and thanks for doing it! If you're interested I've done a similar video, although lower quality, for Dave Van Ronk's version of Maple Leaf Rag.

Thank you! I would say a week or so to get the different sections learned but it look a lot longer to get to a point where I could get through it without mistakes. I learned it from a tab (link in the description).

Thanks for watching. It's open G, so, from low to high: D G D G B D. Obviously the capo here makes it open A. I would love to do lessons or tabs one day but I'm afraid I don't have the time right now. There is, however, a good tab for this song in the book "Bottleneck Blues Guitar" by Woody Mann.

Sure. Just make a normal C chord shape and avoid sounding the 1st or 6th strings. In this tuning that becomes a kind of inverted C7.
