A-line Coaches, Ex-GNE Volvo B1OBLE/Wright Renown departs Heworth Interchange for Newcastle.
In this video, you can see this Semi-Preserved Volvo B1OBLE/Wright Renown formerly owned by Go North East, now in the hands of A-Line Coaches, is seen here departing Heworth Interchange at quite a speed (due to being slightly late) heading to Newcastle to stand in for a failed GNE Crusader bus for the 27 to South Shields. The bus did a few runs to Newcastle and South Shields before giving the service back to Go North East and returning to the depot in Pelaw. In this video, you can see the temporary coaches that were used by Go North East on their X9 and X10 routes that go from Newcastle to Middlesbrough. Here, you can see Network Rail's Ultrasonic Test Train making a rare appearance up North at Newcastle standing in for the NMT whilst it was out of service. The train can be seen here passing Manors on the last part of it journey heading round to Heaton T&R.S.M.D for the night. In my own opinion, it makes sense to have the local fire brigade examine the train before allowing it to move on again. After all, I am sure that none of the staff at Newcastle Central railway station would claim to be any kind of expert in fire prevention. Yes, they were there waiting with fire extinguishers but I am sure that many will agree that this is just the basics.
I believe the fire service assessed the entire unit before clearing it to move again, just to eliminate a repeat event!
I am surprised that the engine wasn't turned off after it pulled up in the station.
It was shut down almost instantly following the emergency stop.

The pan of the entire train at 5:29 shows just how decrepit these units had become with all the rust and warped panels. They were really about 10 years passed their final useful life.
And then some…!
Travelled on them hundreds of times in the valleys they often smoked from the enngines after a punishing trip up and down the valleys was part of the unique experience of these old workhorses
Will certainly be missed, in my eyes!

that made me cringe and glad that multiple radios and cellphones are mandatory for every train crew and rules prevent the use of adjacent tracks by trains in an emergency situation like this and that emergency crews get full priority over all trains so they don’t fiddle around waiting for a departure to examine a vehicle that might be on fire still…

Interesting to see a Sheffield to York Pacer at Newcastle.
Driver entered Sat Nav postcode incorrectly and the train caught fire in protest. Either that or it had been at Heaton TMD?

Where abouts in the train was the fire
It was said to be between the engine and exhaust. An exhaust fire was mentioned. Hope this helps!

The change in pitch is rather strange I must say, but they're still very nostalgic!
There may be a stupid amount of announcements, it's actually a nice voice... but hey, I compare it to the text-to-speech voice I hear on a daily basis at 'my' trainstation (Schiphol Airport) in the Netherlands... that tries to speak Dutch station-names with an English accent as good as possible. The voice itself already sucks, but it sucks to hear it stumble over Dutch station-names...
I think the announcements are actually recorded by a person with a script, not text-to-speech like Schiphol airport but I think the Amsterdam Metro has been recorded by a person if I'm correct? I'm sure it'd be rather funny to listen to it attempting to speak Dutch stations in an English accent...! I'll have to listen if I pay a visit to Schiphol airport next!

That would usually be the case but it's not normal for normal exhaust smoke to be that dense and heavy where lights shine through it like the same seen at 00:35. Hope this helps!
i’m not fully familiar with British trains, but that’s way too thick for normal exhaust even from a 40+ year old train…something caught fire inside the exhaust system, it happens a lot with undermaontained engine

The cause might of been the driver not cooling down the engine, a metal piece from the train wasn’t built properly or a failure in the engine system

This tamper is unlikely to pass through Sunderland any time soon. All tampers as a whole only run on the DCL when they're needed for work so it's a case of checking the station's timetable on realtime trains for them.

Wow! It's hitting quite an unlucky streak!
Do you reckon they’ll ever electrify this line so grand central could get new trains, or is it better to just rely on the diesels they already have?
I think it would be a more cost effective solution to keep the line as it is. Besides, it wouldn't be effective as the Tyne and wear metro already occupy a section of the DCL with their trains operating on a different voltage to those on the mainline. So this wouldn't work anyway.
