Reddington Quote: A farmer comes home. Who burns, must pay [The Blacklist]
Raymond 'Red' Reddington: [to the Stewmaker while Elizabeth listens] A farmer comes home one day to find that everything that gives meaning to his life is gone. Crops are burned, animals slaughtered, bodies and broken pieces of his life strewn about. Everything that he loved taken from him - his children. One can only imagine the pit of despair, the hours of Job-like lamentations, the burden of existence. He makes a promise to himself in those dark hours. A life's work erupts from his knotted mind. Years go by. His suffering becomes complicated. One day he stops - the farmer who is no longer a farmer - sees the wreckage he's left in his wake. It is now he who burns, he who slaughters, and...

Red: What a terrible waste. Time, blood, money. And in the end, for what? Berlin: Revenge. That’s my passion. Red: Revenge isn’t a passion. It’s a disease that eats at your mind and poisons your soul.♤ I attended summer camp with this little stick of a girl Twila Stansberry. Hell of an athlete. Capture the flag. Had an unrelenting passion for fitness. Never skinny enough. A pound here, a pound ...

A quote by Raymond Reddington (James Spader) from the 3th episode of The Blacklist 2 "You know, when I was 15, I had a summer job installing carpets for Albert Kodagolian on Lake Charlevoix. Horrible job... hot, indoors, forced to listen to “The Gambler” on 8-track while the rest of the world was at the beach.Three days into the job, I knew I had to quit. I asked my father for advice. All he wa...

James Spader's portrayal of Raymond Reddington was the only reason I watched the blacklist. I found the plot absurd at times.

It sounds like whoever he said this to may have survived. Whenever he gets on a roll such as this (excellent diversion tactic, btw), it's only a matter of time when the individual usually gets whacked. Can't recall if anyone ever heard the conclusion of his stories, and lived to tell it.

Nope, the person he was speaking to was shot moments after this was done. The loyalty story was being told to someone that had betrayed him. Also one of the episodes with Paul Reubens, RIP

The Chinese recognized how destructive revenge is. There is a reason that they have the saying "Before you set out on revenge, first dig two graves. One of for your victim, and one for yourself." THey recognized that no matter how right your vengeance was, that if you succeeded you still killed a part of yourself.

One of the creators (Jon or John) said discussing and planning scripts the writers often come up with phrases, or passages, simply because they want James to say them. They just want to hear him with that marvelous voice, and speaking cadence give the gift of Raymond saying those words. They have a sound no other could possibly give them. I feel like that quite often. It can be mundane, or common words. Nothing extraordinary but I just want to listen to him speak.

That's true ,his character is probably the greatest i've ever seen in a tv show and it fits him so much sometimes when i look to his interviews it seems like james spader is raymond reddington without trying ,the writers also done a great job keeping his character this legendary from the start till this day

The dramatic pauses leave you hanging, waiting while he search’s for just the most ominous word to use to whom he is talking to. Giving added weight at the right moment. James Spader is a underrated actor.

James Spader is by far one of the finest actors working today, they say that tv is dead and call it the boob tube but I'll watch scenes from Blacklist or Longmire and think omg that was some of the best writing and acting I've seen in years .
