    The Tillix and the Dawes valves both leak vacuum from the end connected to the vacuum pump. This causes boost spikes and you will see your gauge jumping about & your boost will never be rock steady. But you can stop the leak easily enough on both devices by using a "Bonded washer" between the device locking nut & the valve body or you can completely replace the Tillix/Dawes valve lock ring/nut with a "Sealing nut". The "Sealing nut" has a Nitrile O-Ring embedded into it and the bonded washer has a nitrile ring bonded to the inside circumference so when you tighten the Tillix/Dawes locking nut the nitrile rubber expands inside the washer and completely seals the threads tight, the "Sealing nut" does the same over a wider area. They both work very well and they can be used over and over again. Before I removed my Tillix I tried both and I preferred the "Bonded washer" because it is much thinner than the "Sealing nut" and they only cost $1.10 each. You can get the "Bonded washers" from most Bearing shops, some nut & bolt places have them,, or online.

    Hola my friend I need to work your motor brains bit. Le me recap the mods on my Patrol Tillix kit EGR block Swirl mod K&N air filter Rebuild turbo Catalytic converter removed New injectors Recent service fuel pump. Welded intercooler Replaced all vacuum hoses with Tillix brand hose New OEM MAF sensor Just had the head redone Max boost 15 Boost at 100 kph 10 I still have limp! Ponder this for a bit and see if you can help me out. Thanks

      We had a limp mode under full acceleration which we fixed buy winding the boost to 13psi. What sort of limp is it?

      If it's a CRD get yourself an OBD2 scan tool like a scangauge. This will give you the fault code to help pin point the problem. If you have a DI you can get something called ECU talk.

    • @thomperren3520
      @thomperren3520 3 года назад

      My limp was caused by a pinhole on a fuel line sucking air in and a knackered maf. Fixed all that, now it’s got a whopping 1psi and is slow as hell. Hopefully it’s just my controller. So I bought a tillix

      I’d be looking at your pressure relief valve on the fuel rail if a crd zd30.

      Is it dead foot limp? You lift your foot off and apply it again and it's pulling normally again? If so it's over boost limp. Remap the ECU to have that limp deleted or keep it bellow the threshold. You will notice max boost is 15 under most circumstances, however sometimes it will creep above and cause limp

    Quick question. How many turns from fully closed did you set your needle valve? Will make a good starting point on my Tillix install. Thanks Mark

    Thanks for the quick reply, great stuff Ive ordered the parts so will see what happens when I come to install I've blanked the egr already so only want it to reduce boost because of this it's a play vehicle so I don't use it everyday

    I've got the Di zd30 and after watching your video it's making a lot more sense as didn't understand how it worked thank you, one question when your getting the residual pressure from the resignator solenoid which port are you using? I've seen a few other videos where they remove this completely have you blanked your egr?

    • @westysadventures
      @westysadventures 6 лет назад

      Dean Curtis hi mate. So I have bypassed the solenode completely and the needle valve is hooked onto the nipple that comes from the res box. The di I hear you can remove solenode but get throws codes if it's unplugged. As for egr yes that's blanked off 100%. I use the scangauge to clear any codes, but with yours being di you'll need ecu talk.

    hi. i didn't see any line to your boost gauge. are you using and obd2 monitor? is this CRD or Di engine?

    • @westysadventures
      @westysadventures 7 лет назад

      Jhan Phillip Co hi mate. zd30 crd but the concept is the same on both engines. the di engine the vacume line comes from under the intercooler, not a steel line like the crd. my boost gauge has a seperate nipple off the cold tank of the intercooler so a seperate line.

    That helped a lot so thanks for the vid. How many K's did you have before you fitted it and how many since? I'm planning on popping a Tillix in mine (275,000KMs) once I get an EGT gauge in.

      Hi Jason. car had about 65*** on the clock and is now over 73***. been faultless but I am going to change the needle valve to a better quality one.. for needle valves check out Northern 4x4 on ebay.. a bit more expensive but worth it..

      @jasonlv87 8 лет назад

      Thanks Kallen I'll check them out. I was planning on buying a Tillix kit and I hadn't really considered what needle valve it came with.
