Veronica Mars - Aaron Echolls beats the crap out of his daughter's abusive boyfriend

A classic scene from Veronica Mars, S01E19 - Hot Dogs, where Aaron Echolls beats the crap out of his daughter's abusive boyfriend with "That's Amore" playing in the background.

Nolan's Cheddar - Only The Strong Survive Commercial
The punch at 2:40 is legitimately one of the best onscreen punches in Hollywood history.
I love that this scene basically spells out who Aaron is, but because he's being violent for a good reason we're still on his side. Great writing.
This is the only good thing Aaron ever did
Anyone else get Little Mermaid vibes with all of the "Daddy No!"?
Aaron was a murderer but this guy deserved that butt whuppin LOL
What if she had been abused by a previous boyfriend broken up with him and Dylan was a new bf?
The punch at 2:40 is legitimately one of the best framed, most satisfying, and awesome punches ever put to film.
The ONLY scene where Aaron Echolls was actually likable. Can never get tired of watching it.
I really don't understand why Human Target didn't make it, well, maybe it was the addition of a boss lady and a female apprentice.
Marshal: Keep your nasty hands off my Lilypad!!
Interesting scene
Aaron was a very Violent person
The one time in the series when the audience was cheering Aaron Echolls on.
He likes to be in control. That's the only differance. Hes mad because someone beat up Trina, and she probably reminds her of his mother, and most importantly, he did not give him permission. But when its Logal and Lilly he is in control.
I wonder if he would do the same for Logan. I think he would because of the reason you described.
That's Lily Aldrin I mean Alyson Hannigan
When he threw the chair at him 😄😄😄😆😆😆🤣🤣😂
Who else came here because of Alyson Hannigan?
Only redeeming moment
It was a very smart and conscious move to have this episode/scene near the end of the first season. This is really the first time that we like Aaron along with the heartfelt conversation he has with Veronica about how she and Logan are good for one another. It makes us for a split second forget that Aaron is a an adulterer that drove his wife to suicide who also neglects and beats his own son. The fact that he was revealed as the killer shortly after this is both shocking because it seemed like he was just redeemed as a character but it also makes sense because of all the horrible things he has done leading up to that moment. That's just fantastic writing.
Me too
I always thought that S1 mystery was just the best. There were some good ones in S2 and 3 but the Aaron Echolls case was nothing short of perfection. Too bad S4 mystery was so badly written.
I like how calmly he asks his son "How was school?" while Logan (and Veronica and Trina) are standing there horrified...
Lol, just let him beat him you stupid girl.
Rule #1: Do not beat the daughter of a violent sociopath.
Or anyone's daughter for that matter.
Yep
This is the scene that cemented VM as one of my favorite shows ever. The dark humor is at its peak here. Legendary
Yeah same
Not gonna lie, after re-watching this scene. The song kind of kills it for me. It just breaks the mood and doesnt really connect well will it. Its the only thing weighing it down for me, the scene is still kick ass though dont get me wrong. The song choice could have been better, thats all!
The contrast is the point...
Only scene where I actually respected Aaron Echolls.
When Logan came in and Aaron said "Oh, hey son. How was school?" I probably laughed harder than I should have the first time I watched this.
Erdrick68 Was
You.Were.Not.Alone.
I almost peed on myself
Same
Interesting that the man who killed a teenage girl would get so angry at another man hitting his daugter. :P
Don't forget he abused Logan as well. He believes that he was better than his father because he did not beat Lynn, Trina or his first wife. But he was a serial cheater and that certainly hurt Lynn among other things he did.
Trina was the only thing he ever cared about
This is part of his ego... his daughter... she should be untouchable
The man deserved it.
@@she_came_down_in_a_bubble_6160 I agree. Notice how it's not about hitting women, it's about hitting "his daughter". He was sociopathic for sure, and narcissism is one of the traits.
I don't play that shit any nigga hit my daughter on god I'm blasting his ass in both dem knee caps no hesitation.
This looks like a good show, wish I could have watched all the episodes. It's wrong for someone to hit his daughter, but ok for him to beat his son with a belt.
Hulu has it plus S4
Unfortunately that would probably net the guy a big enough lawsuit to be worth a few bruises and cracked ribs.
Whenever I listen to this song, I always remember this scene now..
& that song also sang by Stone Cold while beat the crap out Booker T at supermarket
The whole "woman is being abused and a guy comes in to beat up the abuser and save the day" plotline is pretty overused but I gotta admit that was some pretty good build up.
MadameTamma I keep thinking Marshall is gonna come save the day lol
'Overused', or is it just that any plot involving a guy protecting a woman offends you? I'll never understand that feminist mentality.
Aaron Echolls only shining moment
Aldon Blackreyne he doing the ghetto smack. what's the ghetto smack? WHERE YA HIT'EM WITH ANYTHANG! DRUM SET, PIANO, TIKI TORCH, POWWWWW!
It's interesting that Aaron become his father and does the exact same thing to Logan and Lynn. They definitely had a messed up family situation, when that kind of behavior was treated as normal.
He only hit Logan. He never touched Lynn or Trina. He cheated on Lynn constantly and may have yelled at her towards the end but he did not lay a hand on her. Trina never believed Logan when he aaid Aaron was abusing him. I think after this her eyes may have opened up a bit but because of the way she acted you did not always know for sure whether she brushed it off as a dad protecting his daughter or if her eyes opened like, ok maybe logan was tellinh the truth.
He was the one that killed Lilly. He was the one that tried to kill Veronica because she found that tapes that her best friend had, that of being in bed with Logan's father.
He also raped Lilly. Age of consent in California is 18.
It's the song, the song gets me every time.
This is so tragic and disturbing... and yet at the same time his absolute best moment as a father. What exactly does that say about him? I'm not really sure...
It means aaron aside from being a violent sociopath (or phycopath) you dont mess with family, bc im not a sociopath but if I have a daughter and a guy hits her im doin the exact same thing, or worse
Even trash people do good things sometimes. We contain multitudes
lol
im gonna go with both.
I really dont think ANYONE can get more badass than him ...
to bad he was the one who killed lilly :/ i started liking him after this episode ... except that he beats logan with a belt :/
Fuck yes.
@WMC777 Thank you ! :)
What's the name of the song starting at 1:58 please ?
That's Amore
It took almost seven years for someone to answer that
Lol
