Classic And Vintage Cars
Великобритания
Добавлен 17 мар 2022
Welcome to our Classic and Vintage Cars channel. Being born in 2008 I have a responsibility to get the younger generation involved with classic and vintage cars. I have always known old cars as my grandad had me working on his as soon as I could walk. Living in the same road as grandad has allowed me to spend a lot of time with him and his cars and I have picked up more than just an interest in them.
We are restoring an Austin 7 Ruby and we are using this channel to document our progress. The Austin 7 Ruby was dismantled by a family friend 19 years ago and as he was not likely to put it back together my dad and I have decided to buy it and do the restoration ourselves.
The last time my dad worked on an Austin 7 he was a teenager and he never got to drive the car. This time we will get to drive the finished car and share the experience on this channel.
Please subscribe and follow our progress as we complete the restoration in steps over the next few weeks and months.

First Drive of a Morris 8
This Morris 8 has been off road for over 20 years. Someone started the restoration years ago but sadly passed away. My Dad took the car back and tried to finish the job himself but without the skills to finish the job.
Thankfully his grandson is shaping his career towards being an apprentice with the Heritage Skills Academy. He has been accepted so he now just needs to find an employer in Herefordshire who is taking on an apprentice.

We visited the young drivers day organised by the Devon Austin 7 Club and hosted by Re Fuel near Cullompton in Devon (www.re-fuel.co.uk/) The day was organised to get youngsters involved with Austin 7's as the club recognises that without new owners coming through these cars will not have homes. The general idea of the day was to get non Austin 7 owners involved with the cars and even driving t...

Looks a lovely example , a later Series 1 originating from Kent .Good luck finding a career honing valuable skills that will always be in demand.
Thank you! It is a series 1 but may have a couple of series 2 bits on it.
Excellent!
Thank you 🙏
Ehliyetin var mı zibidi...
Does it has rubbers at the chassis?
Not sure what you mean, sorry. There is felt between the body and the chassis.
Thanks for this. I like your channel, and good to see a young person who has a passion and is articulate. It is a great channel for looking at some of the cars I am familiar with from my youth.
Thank you 🙏
What a great video and beautiful car!
Thank you, we love it too
Babbitted bearings?
It was the rear main engine bearing so easy to replace
Love it and i want one too when i learn to drive next year but how on earth did you manage to get insured in that lmao
I’m only 16 but my dad in the video drive it. RH insurance have just started insurance for young drivers in Austin 7’s. You need to be in www.A7CA.org club and they insure on a case by case basis so you will need to discuss with them directly.
Great video, love the Hereford!
Thank you 🙏
Why did you restart an engine that has a suspected bottom end issue!?! 😮
It was not knocking and thankfully turned out to be the main rear bearing on the crankshaft.
Is this car for sale
No, sorry!
There is a facebook group for Austin Counties. Join that as many come up for sale and need a good home.
What a nice car and excelent work of restoration, congratulations, England nice place for living, regards all ,I love Cars ,from Pilar Buenos Aires Argentina

Beautiful engine ,it works very well, restoration with love makes the diference ,and a question ,is diffucult to get original parts nowadays??,nice works ,regards both from Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Spare parts are very easy to find for an Austin 7. The local clubs are great and we have a few specialist spares suppliers.
Good work ,congratulations, nice car the Austin Seven, enjoy the restoration and your trips over the car,all Cars go to sky ,regards all from Pilar Buenos Aires Argentina
Thank you 🙏
Nice car last forever well looked after
They are very well looked after in this club
I have a feeling that there is ANOTHER George, because THAT has a GRG numberplate! If you watch - or get in touch with - ALEX, from his programmes , under ALL THINGS ALEX.
Thank you, just found his channel!
Just discovered your channel, and 'I'm binge watching. Thanks for this video, I always wondered what it would be like to drive an Ulster! I'm in the states, in California, so This video is probably as close as I will get. LOL
Welcome to the channel. There are a few in the USA so you might find one.
Well good luck lad looks lovely
Thank you 🙏
Looks like you've got a fair amount of sealant around the head gasket - is this to prevent water leaks? I ask because after having quite a bit of work done on my 1935 Ruby I can't seem to get rid of a leak from what seems to be part of the head gasket. Any suggestions welcome!
Sorry for the delay. We used Loctite 5990 amzn.to/3BE8vNj as it was recommended to stop water travelling up the studs. It worked well for us!
What a brilliant idea, it looked like good fun.
It is a fantastic idea. The enthusiasm that the youngsters showed for pre war cars was amazing. They are more interesting and accessible to own than a lot of people think.
AND HES A RIGHT STEERING WHEEL, WOWWW❤❤❤❤
It was an impressive car to see
Your Austin is looking real nice. Can you send some to Canada, We don't have any here.lol
Thank you, not sure about sending any over though. Sorry.
looks like a "68 with the door handle! cool car regardless!
Thank you and yes it is a fantastic looking car.
I think that is a brilliant idea, something we should do in Sussex! Every older owner must have a relative or friend that is younger and to get them interested & driving may get them hooked... we have to do something! Looked a great day!
It was a great day, there are a few things popping up around the country so I'm sure Sussex will get involved if not already.
Probably the best looking British sports car produced
Yes, we agree it’s a good looking car
please dont hit your drums on with a hammer ass you can loosen the rivets or damage the shoe
It hurts your ears too!
Lovely vehicle... it's fortunate that it has found its way into caring hands. 😊
It certainly gets plenty of care
Sounds like a nice quiet engine
It’s not bad for it’s age
This car looks splendid in black!
Thank you
Frogeye Sprite. I owned three of these in the 60s - always nostalgic to see.
They are getting the appreciation that they deserve now.
It was documented that thousands and thousands of these Jeeps were purposely left behind by the United States Army after the war to help in the rebuilding effort. Many farmers use these Jeeps to pull plows and tow trailers etc. Some simply used them as transportation.
We do see plenty
Rhd 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 nice can’t be to many of these ❤
It looked fantastic
🎉 klar
Thank you
The yellow one may have been mine before I am Paul mcwilliams
It’s a lovely car
Looks like typical pothole ridden UK
It is only a car park but we do have plenty of potholes on the roads too
Ovakve automobili bih za vas bili kao da imate kuci ficu pa neznate sta cete sa njom
👍
Nice 😎
Thanks ✌
That's a bad boy's car.
They do look good
Why was the name "Cortina"used both by Lotus and Ford?
The car was a collaboration between both companies based on the Ford Cortina which is why they look mostly the same.
Very nice indeed, every good wish with your car and restoration.
Thank you
Looks like a nice little meet, what time does it start and finish. I have a 1936 Chevy pick up I have been working on and hope to get on the road soon, when I do I will bring it over if that's ok.
That will be a welcomed addition! Good luck getting it finished and on the road. We look forward to seeing it there. The pubs website is www.thegriffinshead.com We normally arrive around 11am to midday but I believe they open around 9am.
@@classicandvintagecars Thanks for the info, I will see if I can get there in May.
a different era, style, but no safety! still fantastic though 👍🍺🇬🇧
So much has changed since then
99 лет
👍
What a beautiful car ❤
We love it too, maybe a future project
I am confused the blackboard says vintage at the front classics at the back yet there are 4 cars parked at the front which are clearly not pre 1939!
It’s an informal meet up with no marshals but generally we get the vintage cars all at the front. There were not as many vintage cars turn up in March so hopefully we can fill the front with vintage cars in April!
I have just put the registration mark UJ1392 in the data base It is not recognised so the car is not taxed mot'd or indeed insured on that mark. To the casual observer the rules state any car manufactured after 1980 require the reg plates to be white/yellow and not black/silver. A couple of talking points for next time you meet!@@classicandvintagecars
We will look out for that one next month
Blimey. The 911 is only a year younger than me. Looks a little better though. Lovely video. Many thanks. Not been to Chillenden since around '82. Used to be a day out from Chislehurst as a child when days out (esp' Sundays) were the weekend routine. Lovely memories and, wonderful cars.
Thank you and the 911 was a great car to see there. It is a good venue for a car display especially in the warmer weather! You never know what will turn up at this monthly event.
We live in west Cornwall but, we're planning a Kent trip one day. A wander r round the villages so will try and coincide with the meet. @@classicandvintagecars
@Lucan-ve6zc excellent idea, if you see us there say hi
Hello It is easier if you drill the rivets out on the back the drill will centre itself. You can get a rivet set tool to bash up the rivets. I use an angled piece of wood that fits into the vice to hold the shoe, you do need 3 hands! If the lining was fouled with oil that needs to be looked at. Not only a new seal but the seal surface will need work. Dad had a Ruby the same year as yours and did a bowden cable conversion to the front brakes this was the 60's. Are they still available ? not sure. The brakes were poor from new. apart from the girling back axle later cars. Your dynamo was not working did you know? The ignition light never went out. Cheers
Thank you, lots of good advice there! We will have the drums off again and get them cleaned up. The car stood for around 40 years so lots of jobs to do still. The dynamo is one of those on the list.
Hi Before you spend more of the folding try taking the wires out of the dynamo and flashing the field coils ( normally the green wired terminal but check!) with the terminal on the battery which IS NOT the earth to the car. After a long lay up the residual magnetism in the core is lost. You are looking for a bright blue spark it may take 3 or 4 goes! Cheers@@classicandvintagecars
We have heard about that, great idea. Thank you 🙏
Your car will be the star of the show next month, thanks for sharing!
Thank you 🙏, we are looking forward to it and other local events
Some lovely beautiful cars.
It was a very good range of cars!
