Dehumidifier Not Collecting Water? Here's How I Fixed Mine
Don’t you hate it when your dehumidifier breaks and you have to endure humid air? We do too. So when my wife told me our dehumidifier hasn’t had water in the tank in a week (I don’t pay attention to it. She does :) ) I knew there was a problem. Come along with me in this video as I work to figure out where the fault is and fix it as well as poorly describe how these things work. Thanks for watching!

This PS1 Has A Tail: Unsticking the open button and refurbishing

I bought this PS1 in a parts and repair lot. I didn’t notice in the pictures but this one came with something a little extra; a tail! I’m still not sure why this was done so the jury is still out. But this PS1 also had another issue and that was a sticky open button keeping the lid from closing. So this PS1 needs a little work before I pass it on to a new owner. You grabbed that cord without a care in the world. Once you plugged in the regular cord that "tail" became hot and dangerous. So about your question if it should be remove or not, yes, do remove it or block the entrance to the original cord, I know that sounds silly but I'm just talking safety. You don't want to plug in one of the cords while turning the other one into a shock/fire hazard. Now speaking from aesthetics only, remove the added one and leave it original. Now to answer your other question, this mod was more than likely done so they didn't have to fish for a cord every time they need it to use the PS1 as it would be always attached or just because they simply didn't have one at hand and decided to rig one rather than buying one or waiting for one to arrive.

    • @titanrepairs

Yeah....I made the careless mistake of allowing myself to get distracted with the filming part that I wasn't paying attention to my safety part. Lucky for me I don't make a habit of grabbing plugs by the pins, plugged in or not. A teachable moment for us all. But believe me I definitely learned from this one lol. That's what I was thinking too. This was back in the day before ordering literally anything off the internet so they probably didn't want to be bothered hunting one down and had this on hand.

I'm not sure if plain WD40 is safe on ABS plastic, unless you're using the silicone based one. In the past I've used PVC pipe lubricant. Maybe in an internet or gaming cafe?

You will need to adjust the spindle height, the laser is working fine with most of the adjustments you did to the new assembly, the only thing it lasts is to lower sonething like one or two mm the spindle and the laser will start reading the cd's, it is becasue the cd is out of the focus of the laser and doesn't return data for it to be identified by the phototransducer. Every single cd/dvd drive i have worked with suffers from the same issue eventually, like if due to the rotations the spindle elevates on the axle until the laser can't recognize the disc entirely. I recently worked on the same model of ps1 and it had the same problem, it now works like new. If the original laser is still working you should check under the plastic cover i found in mine the copper flex forming crystals and corrosion happening between the lines reaching to the laser.

Thank you for the tip! Where exactly is the adjustment point for the spindle?

@@titanrepairs first you need to see with a phone camera if the infrared laser is working fine, should be as bright as a remote controller ir led. In the ps1 the spindle is fixed to the axle by pure friction, you need to push or pull the spindle up/down a little bit, the best to test the adjustment is with a music cd, the ps1 doesn't need to restart and with a music cd it will show underlaying laser issues with data allignment if some parts of the disc can't be read as you change from song to song as the laser struggle to reach that position. Also, as prevention, you want to check for sulfated pins of the connectors for the motor and laser assembly.

Back in the days, mine would not boot unless it had a game in. It's nice to see a piece of console gaming history getting restored

PS2's are remarkably easy to service machines which just makes it even more pathetic how little work DK Oldies puts into them

The 39K's are great units but a bit trickier to service. The 30K's are absolutely the easiest to service by a long way from my experience

Agreed 100%. But I do think each model has its strengths and weaknesses. 30000s are easy to work on but suffer from disc read errors. The 39000s I always tend to get with power issues lol. Sometimes disc read errors too depending on the laser inside. But both models are easy fixes then work great when they're working again. 50000s are the most reliable of the fats but suck to work on. All suffer sticky disc drives. But I love them all :)

@@titanrepairs oh yeah the 30K's are defo the nicest to work on. 39K's can have power issues but thankfully replacement supplies are easy to find. 50K's are fine but have that nasty crash issue sadly

@@AstralPhnxThat is true. You can get new replacements. But in my experience it's usually bad capacitors on the power supply so I usually repair them. Much cheaper! I haven't run into that with the 50ks. Though when I get broken fats they're always 30k and 39ks lol

Looks like the A2 revision, what does it say on the back? Inside it looks just like the one that came with my superslim, they aren't as good as older controllers which had the "hall effect", but these seem easier to put back together.

Oh God I don't remember. I usually say the model in the intro. Yeah this one wasn't bad. Definitely towards the end due to the simplicity in its construction to save cost.

The weird yellow brush is flux. It helps the solder flow and make a good joint. No
