Just wanted to say what a great video, jumping out of the comfort zone takes extreme amount of courage and its glad to see that you are enjoying what you do and doing well ! Keep up the good work.

So ironic, but I’m in this exact scenario. Making $147k “not on the west or east coasts, but the Midwest where cost of living isn’t too high so the salary goes a very long way,” but I’m working 60 hour weeks, my mental/physical health is deteriorating rapidly and I never see my family. I definitely don’t want to climb the ranks even further and be even more “stuck.” Good on you for leaving my man - I hope to have the courage one day

Hi Sam, came across your video today. I’m 2 years into my first corporate role - marketing. I’ve always prioritised work life balance. I don’t want to be like my managers. No life and stuff. I want to work to live. I want to reach a point where I can work part time and live on my off days. But for the meantime I have trouble finding my true passion. Things become boring and repetitive so quickly. Anyway, my 2 cents to help the algorithm :))

Honestly I'm surprised you didn't job hop as that is known to be the best way to give yourself a raise of more like $30k instead of $10k and there's definitely companies out there with better work life balance and even hybrid/remote work. It sounded like your company was playing typical corporate games.

Great video! I love the points you made which is very true and as for my experience, I used to play single player games but in 2019 my friends invited me to the multiplayer gaming world and at that time I was having fun but eventually I realised that all the hard work I'm putting in a virtual world is just pointless. The acheivements I made, the hours I put in has zero value in real world. I just wasted 2 yrs grinding in online games. Now I realised how valuable my time is, which is also limited and non-replenishable, therefore I quit online games and focus on building real life skills. But I still play campaign games time to time because I love great story games and I don't have to worry about anything, can pause it or quit it and play anytime I want when I have time to play.

Maybe what you want is a chance to express yourself, getting yourself out there and your voice heard. People come with a variety of opinions. It is quite hopeful to think that you can help people without 2-way communication and knowing their situations personally. To stop being delusional and having a more fulfilling life and relationships (things that made you quit your job), I think, in addition to youtube, you should also get a certificate for counselling and have your own office in your local area. Also, your perspective was quite pessimistic. You or Dan were not replaceable. Both of you occupied a position in the company as valuable assets and only after you left, would a spot be open for someone else. Big problem was, you were in the company, but you excluded yourself as a part of its vision. Thus, feeling unfulfilled. It is your life and it is your responsibility. However, I just want to clear things up for others when they meet this situation of finding a meaning in life and work. It is mainly the attitude of that person towards their situations. It is not just because of the situations.

One crazy fact is, at least for me, the older you get the lesser you want to deal with people and just be around the people most dear to you. Which is still socializing by the way. I love this video brother. Keep it up! We're watching. I hope to be in one of your videos soon!

Thank you so much for sharing your life lessons. You have saved me from making the same mistake. Im at uni now studing cyber security and for the past few years have been pushed by myself and others to aim for a life of desk work and stress. I've had realisations recently that it's not what im looking for and I'd rather, as you put it, invest that work in other aspects of my life. What you've said here has confirmed it and im fully certain i will avoid that road, I've also seen my dad walk down it too. Im 20 and i want you to know this has helped shape my life for the better <3

Thanks man. If I were to be honest, I really don't have a purpose. I know we are supposed to make our own purpose but I don't know which one. I really needed that advice from Dr. Peterson. I really don't like the wishy washy "this is how you find purpose", I've struggled to find a scientifcally-based video on finding purpose. Thank you very much man. That said though, I am curious what exactly it means when "things doesn't work for you". At which does that begin? The first sign of resistance, the third, the fifth? Or is it when you don't feel like the goal is not worth pursuing? I just remembered the concept of purpose layers from the Way of the Superior Man. I guess that answers my question.

Great video! For me personally, thinking back to the past week, month, and year, I found myself actually feeling happy and satisfied about the countless gaming hours I've spent. I do occationally play multiplayer fighting or racing games (and those are often a waste of time on reflection), but I primarily play open-ended, creative video games, like Minecraft, Terraria, and Animal Crossing New Horizons. Through these games I've learned about some of our real world's plants and animals, I research what the things I build in-game are like in the real world, and in Animal Crossing I've experimented with basic interior decorating and actually applied what I learned to my room decor in real life. I probably don't feel regret for the hours I've put into these games because they have been an educating experience. Sorry for the tangent, I found this toppic very interesting and wanted to share how it applied to me!

I am still working as a corporate employee and at the same time trying to fill in my passion for arts, business, and many other things. I can't do all of these things at the same time and I can't just quit my job now because I am also a Father of 4 kids. So, I decided to upload my very first brand awareness content last week, and it was not that bad, then I stumbled into your video which boosted up my confidence to make more contents. Love that you added that fact that, no matter how long you worked for a company, at the end of the day, it feels weird to that nothing just happened. Keep up the videos man! Good for you Sam, from the bottom of my heart i mean it. but in reality not many people can afford to do what you did. Many are in debt, many may have lives dependant on their income. Not many were given a choice like you. But am glad at least someone out there is able to break this chain of misery and still have the means to do what they are passionate about!
