The one who died at MESA got it easier than the world who wasn't prepared for the horrors about to come.
HECU marines were doomed when black mesa incident started and when HECU marines returned since the 7 hours started.

Honestly they could have if they weren’t ordered to kill all witnesses and the CIA black ops weren’t ordered to kill HECU
To me, the most horrific of the voice lines will always be Black Mesa's Forget About Freeman. The absolute fear and panic the VA delivered near that end at whatever was about to happen to him feels so damn genuine. Everytime I hear it I get goosebumps.
The soundtrack to Black Mesa is absolutely phenomenal.

@@spacekaiser3063 I admit the HECU conversations are easy to find but I added quite a bit of levelled audio in the background that would be very difficult to replicate. I unfortunately no longer have the project.

As soon as the Mesa incident occurred, the HECU soldiers were already doomed. To die from a nuclear strike or to die in a seven-hour war.

Not sure if OPFOR was canon so maybe just left to die in either black mesa or the 7 hour war like you said.
Or face the worse. Be a slave for 20 years or be a rebel. The nuclear strike would be the most merciful, at least you wouldn't know about the near total extinction of not only humans but almost all live on Earth.
Maybe they will live on to become the metro cops in hl2 or become a member of the Resistance

HECU didn't deserve any of this, nobody did, Black Mesa alone was probably took the bloodiest battle on american soil, by far.
If black mesa was a movie it would probbaly be one of the best
Counter point: They were willing to execute civilians on command. They did in fact deserve this. Also the battles of the civil war were significantly deadlier.

@@sp0ckz0mbi3 620,000 dead in the civil war, black mesa personel, government forces and US Army forces estimated to be over the thousands in that base alone. the following 7 hour war wiped not only americas population into dust, but it took out over 5-6 billion individual lives in only 7 hours. counter point: shut the hell up, these men were following orders.
