Guild D-20 - Made in the USA - Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar - A few sounds
#acousticguitar #guildguitars #acousic
I've always wanted a really great quality acoustic, but never owned one, until now. The Guild D-20, I bought used from a music store here in the UK. It's a truly fantastic guitar, and definitely a keeper. Made in the USA in 2017.
I've recorded a few sounds using a Rode NT-1 through my Audient id-14 interface.

Reverend Charger 290 - Song Demo and Some Clean Sounds
Просмотров 812 месяца назад
#reverendguitars #electricguitar #alternativerock I recently bought this guitar, I'm usually only a used guy. But I dol a couple of guitars over the last few months and when I saw this I couldn't resist it. I wasn't disappointed, it's a fantastoc instrument. The P90s are some of the best pickups I have ever used. And the bass contour is so useful, I cannot understate enough how brilliant that k...

cool dude
Great tone!!! Keep it up man
I bought a new CA made Guild D-20 in 2017, and it has become my favoriteacoustic guitar. It feels and sounds just right.
Yes, this is a 2017 model. I'm enjoying it so much. It's easily the nicest acoustic I've ever owned. I seem to get an idea every time I play it!
Lovely
The tones in your opening are epic! 🤗 What effects and amp are you using?
Thanks man! So I'm using the Neural DSP Archetype: Rabea for the song, then for the sound examples I have a Laney LC15r mic'd up with a Shure Beta 57a
Hey, I'm thinking of throwing in the PAF 36th neck in a 335 with a Bigsby. How do you like the neck pickup? Pros, cons? Thanks!
It's lovely and warm. Honestly I can't recommend these pickups highly enough. Really articulate, great with distortion. They'd suit jazz, blues or rock nicely.
Thank-you. Too few demos of LP type guitar lead lines have any taste or soul. Tonality is even more crucial on single cut guitars if you want to play with emotion. Not enough people make a Les Paul sing like a strat, defaulting to the thick, dark, woody, and abrasive tone that is typical today. Can I ask what Bias FX settings you used and also what the 50s wiring and tone caps bring to the table?
Thanks man, I really appreciate those kind words. I don't have the guitar anymore. But I found that the wiring kit definitely added some warmth along with the Blues Engine Pickups, which I can't recommend highly enough if you ever want to check those out. In terms of the Bias FX settings. I always just use the default 'American Dream' setting as my base. And then just tweak it a bit depending on what guitar I'm using. Adding a different drive pedal to the chain etc. I really like the Overdrive Pro pedal with the boost option. Hope that's informative :)
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve Excellent, yes that is what I needed thanks. So 50s wiring and orange capacitors give an alnico ii flavour, or is it more subtle than that? Yes I have been an Iron Edge consumer for a couple of years, but that was the nicest combination with a single cut I have heard. It was like a return to the mid 70s which was the high point of Les Paul tones and they have been diminishing ever since. Can I ask why you gave up the guitar after bringing it to its peak?
@@donw.k.6877 Yes there is definitely a difference, but it is subtle. I feel charging the pickups is what makes the most difference. I just like to work on different guitar projects and love them for a while. Then I move them on and allow someone else to hopefully do the same. I recently built a strat from parts.
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve I listened to a before and after demo for the 50a wiring with orange capacitors anf my ears were not refined enough to hear much of a difference, so juat the pipa for me. Thanks for the information.
Damn, didn't notice you were playing with your fingers until now. Oh well, knew it was too good to be true as I'm not going to be able to emulate that. Still I'm sure the pup upgrade will be a definite upgrade.
Brilliant!
Thanks man. If you want to check out any more. The link to the album is in the video description 😊
I appreciate you demonstrating these within a mix.
No problem. I try and make useful videos 😉
Awesome guitar improvisation Steve!!!

Cool Jazzmaster, sounds great Steve!!!
Sounds pretty close 👍🏽
Sounds awesome bro.... Keep the blues alive Steve!!! Greetings from the Netherlands Bert
Awesome guitar solo Steve!!!
That camera quality is incredible
How have you managed to get the audio out of sync?
On second look, it's a RUclips problem. I have the same video on my TikTok and it's perfectly in sync.
nice job!
Thanks man 🙏
Cool
Great choice Steve, awesome guitar solos. Well done bro !!! Bert
Thanks man 🙏
Wow thanks this is exactly what I want to try, SC550 + Blues Engine, maybe JB clone for the bridge, I have the SDs in my LTD Les Paul and the sound is amazing. If they're good all Blues Engine in my Epiphone Korina V, it came with awful Epi PAFs that ruin the guitar but I've been to broke to put in Gibson 57s.
Glad you found the video helpful 🙂
A bit too much reverb. It tends to water down the notes
Awesome guitar solo Steve!
Thanks man 😊
My Black one arrived this week. These guitars really are incredible. It adds another perspective to this video too. Great playing!
Great! I hope you really enjoy it. I'll never sell mine. It's almost the one strat to rule them all 😉 So versatile.
Mine is also 'Never for sale' at this current time. They really are fantastic. I paid £1400 and took a bit if a gamble as it was an online listing, but they almost NEVER come up!
don't be scared of the amp son it won't bite you damn use to have one of these aor 112 30w back in 85 it was a fk beast solid tone as good as any thing just takes a little patience to find it's sweat spots. it really cuts trough put on a solid chair to the side of you and let the band blast away and bring up the gain it'll sit in the sound like a governer just tweek it a little you can get most any tone out of it its rock solid.
RIP Mike, miss you 💔 This is an ugly country🥀☮️✡️
Sounds great, good job !
Thanks man. Appreciate that!
I never played on a Laney amp (I'm a kinda Marshall guy) but this sounds great Steve! Bert
Yeh they're super amps man. They go for next to nothing used. So worth checking out 😉
Laney amps great for metal/hard rock!
I find myself coming back to this guitar again and again, it really has something peculiarly unique to it. Glad you did this vid as for years I'd wondered if mine was odd in how quiet (only by perception really) the coil tap settings were...yours does the same. I find them so useful!
No problem man. Glad you found it useful. Yeh I noticed very few videos around this guitar. And it took me years to hunt one down myself. I believe it was only in production for a couple of years. I think Billy fell out with Fender at some point and switched to Reverend. I absolutely agree with what you said. I think you can get so many different sounds from it. Super useful when playing live.
Is the LC15R too loud for office/bedroom use?
It would be fine. It can get very loud, enough for pub gigs. But if you keep it on 1 - 2 it's fine.
They sound really good, I will order the over-wound version for my Squier Affinity. Nice playing too. Do you tried this version? Thanks for share
Thanks 😊 Great choice! They'll certainly make a big difference to the Affinity. I've not tried the overwound version, but they sound great in other videos. Maybe also think about upgrading the pots, switch & jack too. That guitar will be great for years then.
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve That is on my list, thanks
THOUGHT IT LOOKED KICKAZZ THE WAY IT WAY TO BEGIN WITH 😳
To each their own. I needed a change
Awesome... keep on noodling my friend!
Great video Steve. The first part is always the hardest :) I have built 2 guitars which I bought as a guitar kit from Thomann. The one I did some spray paint / striping art and for the other one I used the epoxy raisin technique... Such a cool proces. I never spray painted and never used epoxy before, so I learned a lot. Bert
Thanks Bert. Yeh it's definitely a bit trial and error. I certainly learnt a few things. It's something I've wanted to do for a long time and I'm really pleased with how it turned out in the end.
Awesome!
Not
Cool insight video Steve. Sounds great... I always record with my mobile phone, just hit the record button and see what happens :) Have a great day and keep on rocking! Bert
Thanks man. I certainly will do \m/
Your Strat sounds awesome Steve!
Thanks dude!
Awesome!
WOW, this sounds awesome Steve, great song idea. Beautiful Strat btw Cheers Bert
Thanks man! I'll be adding some more grunge based tune videos shortly. If you wanna subscribe, that'd really help me out 😉
Awesome looping Steve!!!
Thanks man, I appreciate that 😊
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve my pleasure :) May I ask you a question Steve? Are you interested in doing a collab on my WATAPARTJA project? Would be great when you'd think about it :) :) Have a great and inspiring day! Bert
song idea is great. sounds like new age pumpkins!

@@TheGuitarDudeSteveno problem, just did 👍🙏🎸
Thanks man! 😊🤘✌️
This is crazy dude! Love it
Thanks man!
Killer guitar and playing!
Thanks man!
Sounds nice! Have you tried any other Irongear pickups? I want to get a set for metal but I've not tried any of theirs yet.
Thanks man! Yeh I had an X Series Jackson Rhoads about 4 years ago. I put a set of the Iron Gear Metal Machines in that. They're pretty incredible for passive pickups. Incredibly high gain. Great for real proper heavy chugging, if you know what I mean 🤘 Worth a bash. I just sold a DimarZio Tone Zone, which is also excellent in the bridge for chugging
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve Thanks! I was looking at the MM pickups. Would you say they were better than the Steam Hammers?
@@6Four6Films They're definitely higher gain than the steam hammers. I guess it depends what type of music you're looking to play. If all you'll be playing on the guitar is metal then I'd go with the metal machines. But if you play some rock, hard rock too. Then I'd go with the steam hammers. Then not quite as intense and they're more versatile.
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve Thanks for that, I'll have a think! You've gained a sub!
@@6Four6Films Thanks man! And no problem. I don't put many vids up but I try and be as helpful and informative as I can when I do 👍
What’s the SH sound like Split?
Not sure. I never really intended to split the bridge. Might think about that though 🤔
@@TheGuitarDudeSteve 👍
🤩👏👏👏👏👍
Gorgeous tone, beautiful piece Steve !
Thanks very much Marti!
Just fitted a set to my Harley benton TE-52 and they have transferred a good guitar into a fantastic guitar. Yes I replaced the pots and switch and cap but that's part of fitted new pickups. I'd say for under £200 all in I don't think you can find a better guitar. Re sale will be garbage but you won't sell.
Very nice! What pickups in that SG?
Thanks man. They're the 490R & 490T combination. I actually sold that SG. But recently brought a 97 with the same pickup set
