      @outdoorpetsolutions 4 дня назад

      I couldn’t agree more! The OPS1000 provides a True Training Collar that features gentle advanced Blunt Style Stimulation which is far superior to the Sharp style Stimulation (shock) response found in most traditional containment technologies. Blunt Style stimulation is the same sensation a tens unit delivers, that a chiropractor would use on your back. It simply contracts the muscles. Instead of using a sharp shock stimulus that causes pain. The test light is included in the kit however, experiencing the correction yourself is recommended. This way you will understand the sensation your dog can receive throughout the training process.

    Thanks for these videos. Best of luck with your business. Quick question, can the wire be daisy chained for larger yards? I'm looking to run about 1000 linear feet of wire. My wife and i just bought a new country home and we have neighbours now. We used to be surrounded by crown land. now weve moved closer to civilization to give our children a better life. Proper livestock fencing would require either an up-front cost of $20k canadian to have it professionally installed or hours of work that i do not have time for while working on a fixer upper. Your system is an option I'm considering

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 8 дней назад

      Yes sir. The system can support up to 5000 feet of cable. You will simply splice the cable together using the supplied wire connectors. For each additional 500 foot roll of cable you add to your order, you’ll receive 2 additional cable splices and an additional 100 training flags.

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 14 дней назад

      Thank you! If your dog is hearing impaired. You’ll need to start the training by setting the collar to level 1 for the first step of the training process. This will keep the sensation very mild to where your dog will notice the sensation but won’t be startled by it. This way they can focus on learning to retreat. Then you’ll slowing increase the levels during the second step of the training.

      The wire they include with the petsafe products is so thin it probably won’t last very long out in the elements. Especially attaching it to an existing fence. It’s vulnerable to daily lawn maintenance damage and other exposures. You can use the ground in the outlet. I have in the past. However, when using a shared ground, the signal can bleed over to the other lines in the house that are sharing that common ground. For a nice clear signal that’s dedicated to the underground fence cable, using a separate ground outside is best. Here is a link to a video I made showing how to use the armada to trace other underground lines and I address the ground issue. ruclips.net/video/FCPT6evrM18/видео.htmlsi=if8cbynPMZ89EWs9

    • @outdoorpetsolutions

      My pleasure. I would suspect that the break is close to where you’re losing the signal. If it’s in your twisted pair that would explain why you’re losing the signal on both sides of the loop connections. I’d dig the line up right before the signal is lost and inspect in that area.

    I'd like to take the collar off to play fetch in the grassy field behind my house. Can the dog not be trained to only stay in the yard with the collar on?

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions Месяц назад

      This is a common question. I never suggest walking your dog across the fence line after they have been trained not to. Your dog will become confused. If you remove the collar and attempt to walk the dog across, the first few times they will act stressed out and confused while you drag them through the fence. After a while they will get used to you walking them through. But this will lead to breakouts of the fence when you don’t want them to cross the boundary. Dogs are very “black and white” they do not understand the “gray area” that we do. Once they learn their boundaries they will always heed to them. But once we start to deviate what we taught them, this is where containment issues will begin. So, how do you get your dog out of the fenced area? Here is the best way. You can use a gator, UTV or any vehicle and drive them out of the fence. This is the easiest way to get your dog out of the fence area without causing them confusion. You’ll ALWAYS take the collar off, before doing so. Otherwise the collar can activate inside the vehicle. You will then do the same when you come back into the fence. Then reapply the collar and your dog will remain in the yard. Your dog will then associate the vehicle with the way out. So when you say “go for a walk” or other command, your dog will run to the vehicle. As long as your dog doesn’t figure out how to start and drive the vehicle, they should remain contained.

    Instead of just burying the wire directly in the ground what are your thoughts on using pvc pipe?

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 2 месяца назад

      Your thought process is a popular one. I have been out on many service calls where folks had decided to try and fish the underground fence cable through some sort of protective pipe typically half-inch PVC. But in most cases, the pipe will end up getting damaged, resulting in damaging the fence cable inside. so making the repair becomes very difficult because the proper spices that are to be used to repair the dog fence cable will not fit inside the pipe. So you have to leave those repairs exposed outside the pipe. Also trying to fish the underground cable through a protective pipe makes the initial installation very difficult. The trench you’ll have to dig is much larger to accommodate the pipe. For ease of installation and longevity. The best thing to do is just install a high-end underground cable. The heavy duty fence cable that I provide in the OPS 1000 dog fence kit is designed to be buried directly in the ground, and to withstand the elements. It’s the same cable that I use in my professional installations. Here is a link to view the fence system and the commercial grade cable that comes with it. www.outdoorpetsolutions.com/store/product/diy-dog-fence-kit

    If i give them access to front and back yard they like going out front first always how far do i twist the wires in front yard ?

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 2 месяца назад

      I’m not exactly following what you’re asking. The twisted wire allows you to cancel the fence signal. This is usually done when you run the wire from the transmitter out to the boundary. So in the front yard, you’ll need to decide how far out the boundary will be. That will determine how far the twisted wire will have to go. The boundary will project the signal about 4 feet off the wire, so be sure to take the twisted wire out far enough to allow your dogs room to go out the front door and around the sides to get to your back yard. I hope that helps!

    Can you please explain how to rig up the extension cord to attach the black alligator clip to an outside ground? I currently am using a tone and probe to try to find my break and grounded the controller black alligator inside on a piece of metal. I can hear a tone from the invisible fence wire but only in areas where I have the wire dug up and exposed. Hoping if I can connect the ground to outside metal stake in the ground I won't have to dig up the wire and have direct contact??

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 2 месяца назад

      Basically I took an old extension cord and cut the 2 plug ends off, exposing the copper wires inside. Then I attached the spring gator clips to the exposed copper wires and taped them up. This allows me to attach the black ground lead to one end of the extension cord and the ground rod to the other end of the extension cord. This way you can reach to the outside and get a good ground with the ground rod.

    What type of invisible dog fence do your recommend?

      I always recommend an in-ground wired fence system because of the reliability. Here is a link to the fence system I use. www.outdoorpetsolutions.com/store/product/diy-dog-fence-kit Here is a video where I explain the different types of electronic dog fencing. I’ll always suggest a wired fence system over the wireless and gps fences because of its consistent reliability. The OPS1000 is commercial grade and would be your best option. Here’s a link to get yours. www.outdoorpetsolutions.com/store/product/diy-dog-fence-kit

    Would you recommend these for all splices? I was also curious what is the longest run a system like this can be run, at some point is there too much resistance, say you wanted to run several 1000 lft. (5000 lft)? I'm also curious if you would recommend possibly running each splice to an above ground waterproof box for isolating and troubleshooting. Much appreciated I'm very happy I found your site. Great job.

      Hello Lex! Yes I recommend all splices to use the capsules as I show in the video. Also, different fence systems can support various lengths of cable. Some systems can only handle a few thousand feet while others can cover up to 100 acres!! The system I recommend and use, can cover up to 5000 feet of fence cable. There really is no need to leave the splices exposed. As long as you make the splices as I show in the video, you should never have an issue with the splices.

    Is 16 gauge wire much better?

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 3 месяца назад

      16 gauge is still not as big as the cable I use and that I include with our DIY fence systems. Smaller the number, the bigger the wire. The outside jacket of the wire is also important. The higher the number on the jacket, the thicker it is. The jacket material needs to be dense and able to withstand the outdoor elements. The cable I use offers the best jacketing. It’s a very strong material.

    Adam, your videos are very helpful. I live in Illinois so I will be installing my electric fence myself. I have one question concerning using your OPS1000 kit. How close can the live wire be to the house so that it doesn’t send out a correction to the dogs in the house?

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 3 месяца назад

      Hello John! So that will depend on how large of a field you plan to project off the wire. There is a field width adjustment on the system that controls when the collar activates before the wire. I always suggest a minimum field projection of 4 foot off the wire. Using that rule of thumb you’ll want to install the wire, approximately 3 feet off the house to avoid the signal From coming into the home and activating the collar inside.

      That’s great! In the video I explain that an invisible dog fence alone won’t always keep your dog in the yard. Training is required to ensure success.

    Thank you! Very helpful and interesting. However, another question. I used another line detector, but your mention of beeping on each side of the line helped, so I tried again, since it was beeping the entire time, indicating NO break. (ugh) Per instructions 5 years ago, I twisted/cancelled the wire where we crossed over. However, I decided to cut that extra. (keeping the pup out of a water feature area). So when I placed the wires back in the "box" I now have 2 red lights! yay! (one indicating power, the other light indicating a full circle) HOWEVER!....NOW the COLLAR is almost continuously beeping! In the house, in the middle of the yard, 10 feet from the line, there's no obvious pattern. Is there a way to see if the issue is the collar? (I disconnected the battery, as it wouldn't stop) What could I have done to cause this? ugh . thanks

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 4 месяца назад

      If you’re experiencing the collar activating all over the place, check the “field width” dial. If you cut out part of the fence and reduced the amount of wire being used, you may have the field width up too high. Depending on the brand of fence you’re using, there also may be a filed width booster switch. If so, you may have to switch it to the low position.

      Hello! I’m sorry I’m not familiar with any installers in your area. You could reach out to a local landscape lighting company and see if they would be interested in installing the system for you. They have the same equipment to install the fence. The kit comes with complete installation instructions. As well as the training guide to help you with the training process.

    If you have a corroded wire does the system send out a signal still? My unit is no longer working. I have replaced the collars and still there is nothing. Both lights on the transmitter are working but there is no sound.

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 4 месяца назад

      If corrosion has set in on the copper, the radio signal has a difficult time projecting off the wire. So your collars will stop responding. If you do a short loop test as I demonstrated in the “how to find a break” video, you can quickly determine that it is, indeed the wire outside that is the problem. Here is a video where I explain The corrosion issue and how an improper splice can cause the problem. ruclips.net/video/vMgmsNtsT6M/видео.htmlsi=rHKW2kfQxAnH2Cbi

    Or can you do a double line to do a straight line? I have a fenced yard but one side is shorter

    • @outdoorpetsolutions
      @outdoorpetsolutions 4 месяца назад

      Yes! To just do one single straight line or side, you would use the double loop option. Running two lines side by side along the straight line. This will create a barrier just on one side but maintain the needed continuous loop.
