As an owner of the Gen3 since August of 2021 with 14,700+ miles on it now I will respectfully say your title is wrong, the KLR does do everything. Mine has done more and carried me more places than anyone else's bike I've seen where I live. From solo camping in the Croatan National Forest (not for the faint hearted) to construction sites with a backpack toolbag packed to the brim. It's a Utilitarian's Motorcycle which takes a Utilitarians mindset and lifestyle to appreciate. A mindset not shared amongst the common masses anymore. Suggestion: When doing reviews of an Adventure Bike, "Stand Up" and ride. That is a large part of what they are designed for.

The zzr1400 is a SPORTS BIKE . You want sport/touring get a GTR1400 , it's got a centra stand and luggage.

The S2R1000 is the final version of the original 1st gen Monster in its purest, highest spec form. Yes the S4, S4R and S4RS are in fact higher spec versions of the original Monster but being water cooled 4-valvers they stray from the original “Mostro” concept as penned by M. Galluzzi in the early 90’s. This specific model is indeed a future classic with decent examples available for purchase getting scarce. A 2008 such as this is the final model year and is already being sought out by those in the know. I like the enthusiasm and attitude this rider has. With apologies, the healthy dose of misinformation in regards to the brand and specific model is just more of the same stuff thats been going around for decades. That ignorance in and of itself is all part of the Ducati lore I suppose. The number one most obvious, most well-known “con” that plagues this model does not get even a hint of a mention. Yet it is staring us literally in the face for the entire 30 minutes while the well spoken narrator “educates” us.

Everyone wants to crap on the love for this bike. I’ve owned 12 motorcycles. It’s always been about gaining more power when going to next bike. I bought my 23 KLR in August that year. Got 5500 on bike now. I have not felt the lack of power. I like to ride slow bikes fast. The bike handles incredibly on the road, I lead rides with friends on much bigger bikes. This bike is nimble and you can throw it around on the road super easy. Off road, I’ve laid the bike down multiple times. Pick it up and it starts and you go at it. It is a beast on dirt/fire roads. It handles loose dirt and sand ok with better rear tire. Mud is fun too. Highly recommend bike. This is someone coming from harley to KLR and very happy with decision.

Had a 2002 955i, good bike. Have a 2012 1050, GREAT bike. Hardly the "original" streetfighter though. Was buying Streetfighter magazine in the early 90's!

Not the best review for the bike I've seen, I own it (2010 model) for couple of years now. First of all the brakes - kinda similar to sv650, meaning pretty bad, except I don't expect that on 1000ccc bike. Watching the review and seeing the way you ride I understand why you find them (brakes) good. Brakes are good for slowing down but terrible for stopping. I ride it on pirelli supercorsas bsb and it improved braking, even without them bike is pretty capable to corner in rider dragging a knee style. Handling is good and cozy to ride it, but in my case after 250km its tiring. One thing you said is true, not the best experience for the passenger, on the other hand, not many bikes are, especially if we are talking about naked bikes. NAKED bikes, not sport bike because this is not the one. Even though it shares the power plant with Fireblade its seriously crippled in terms of power. Its not even a hyper naked, its just a 1000ccc naked bike. Speaking about 1000ccc naked bike with 125bhp, fuel consumption is terrible. Of course it depends on riding style, but impossible to go les then 7L/100km if you are ultra smooth. With all "pros" and "cons" its great looking bike, quite different and unique looking. If you expect a lot of it, you should buy hyper naked like yamaha mt10 or something similar. I can agree that its one of the prettiest bikes for the money in its segment.

This was my bike (2020 z650) after I used the grom for a month. New rider. Intimidating at first, but got used to it. The throttle is forgiving until about 5k rpm. Once you hit 6k rpm the power really comes on if you want it. It's a great adrenaline rush. I do like that the throttle is forgiving. The stock exhaust is lackluster so I put a Black Widow De Cat. Sounds alot better.

I changed the headlight bulb on mine

I owned a 2004 Suzuki Hayabusa, black and purple it was a 1397 cc made about 190 hp to the rear wheel. It had a full Brocks sidewinder exhaust and an 8 inch stretch. I chop the forks the bike was set up for the straits. In stock form the 1299 cc engine has a lot of engine breaking. That’s why when there’s no input in the corner it feels like the bike wants to either keep going straight or fall on its face. My GEN 2, 2012 Hayabusa has an alien head to full exhaust And velocity stacks with swing arm extension plates so not quite crazy as my gen one. Both gen one and gen two have shitty front brakes. I recommend getting you some braided brake lines, even though you don’t want the bike to be too far from stock. I haven’t ridden a GEN three but all my friends that have them say that the front brakes are massively improved. Also, it doesn’t help that on both motorcycles. I rode them stock but ended up taking one of the front brake rotors off to reduce weight

One of the best engines ever made. I'm a true Honda fanboy but this is one of those bikes that gets the blood flowing. Happy new year

Great video and I agree with you 100percent the cb1100 is a pretty fantastic bike and the center of gravity is definitely low. Not really a beginner's bike best to work your way up to this bike. Can be a little hard on front tyres,I had to replace the front before the rear with the Dunlop tyres, I have changed to the Avon vennon and it seems to be quite okay I run Avon on my Harley as well. They really are a fantastic bike had mine for 13 years and I will keep it till I can't ride, cheers mate old Andy from Australia 😊

I own an 07 myself - sounds so different with an exhaust mounted the right side, as opposed to the stock underseat exhaust

I have a 2023 ZX14R. To combat the ergo issue you identified as was your primary concern, you may wish to check out lowered pegs. I installed Knight Designs pegs which are 1 3/8" lower than stock. They were just the ticket fo me when combined with Heli-Bar risers. You may need to see if they would work with your exhaust mod. There may be alternatives out there but lowered pegs are worth investigating.

Don't listen to the hype, it's a piece of crap, handles like a supermarket trolley, vibrates like a ....one of those vibrating things, the seat is a diabolically painful ball breaker, it leaks oil out the head cover, and it doesn't age well. I've owned both the 650 and 800 both very disappointing, not a patch on the far superior current Triumph Bonnies.

The ugliest most outdated sport bike on the market

I have a Kawi Concourse 14. I'm considering selling it and buying a KLR 650 Tall. I no longer do long rides. Would use it for the occasional commute and easy maintenance.

My biggest complaint is the throttle and the play, I wish it had ride by wire. it would benefit from some updates.

Man, I don't understand why they don't sell this here in my country. Instead, we have the awful Dunlop Trailmax Mixtour. So annoying! I want this on my Vitpilen!

I find Dunlop’s (multiple models) take longer to break in. They last far longer too. I’m using the Road Smart 4 SPs on my SFV4s grey Nero. They stick like glue. After a warm up I can bank the bike harsh. Never tried therm In torrential rain and never will test a tire in those conditions (I don’t care how amazing a rider is or the tire is, I it’s nit worth the risk) but on damp roads it’s unwavering .

Long break in period... got it. PS.apart from weight the BMW is on a steel chassis, different vibration profile compared to the aluminium perimeter of the cb1000r so the feel might be very different

got same bike same year but white, i just have to disagree as best bang for bucks is the aprilia tuono 1000r 2nd gen the 139hp v2 model, the cb1000r decat with a delkevic or akro exaust is not bad at all , but the aprilia is faster, more torque, better front brakes, very easy to work on and is even cheaper to buy nowadays, the cb1000r is more docile, very good gearbox and amazing rear brakes, they have same fuel capacity and consumption, here in uk the cb is around 2.5k£, the aprilia around 2k£ and tbf they both very reliable as 0 electronics helps.

I got one last Saturday. 2024 red and gray, no abs. Love how it feels on the road. Going to hit the Georgia Traverse as soon as it warms up.

I have never corned BETTER on a bike other than my 08 M109r and i have a 250 rear me personally and with my riding style absolutely 💯 have found my sweet spot...p.s same thing happened to me on the freeway i guess i accidentally bumped the kill swith

I like these tires a lot. I use them on my upright bike where I know I'll be on varied roads including dirt and gravel. They're also great on wet and cold roads, and don't slow the handling much like a knobbier type of tire. But on my street naked I use a sport tire.

The KLR is an antiquated turd. Not worth it at any price!!!

This is how I see this bike. Just ass quick as the Mt 09 with a bit more top end. cheaper with Honda reliability, Then THE sound this bike can make with the right pipe.. Sweet!

Thanks from Scotland. Thinking that the corner confidence could be the tyres but also the rear shock. I would consider replacing the stock shock. I use the Michelin Road 6 on my CBR1100 Blackbird, love them.

I have a hernia and spondylolisthesis that i was born with. I am 5'11" and weigh 145. I started riding in 1963 and have had many motorcycles. I can't ride now any bike that puts me in a straight or laid back position(touring or cruiser). I have a 2021 ZX-14r, that is the only motorcycle that i can ride comfortably and love it. It does everything i could ask for. Oh and I'm 75 years old. Thanks for the video.

I'm just about to get into motorcycles and correct me if I am wrong. I am aware that you're reviewing a stock CB1100 but I am just curious to learn more since I am considering this bike or the old versions of the CB750-1100. You talked about the cons of the bike so I wanted to ask you, is it possible to get bigger wheels so you could get more ground clearance? I also think the stock wheels look a bit small in proportion with the frame/size of this bike. Could that fix it?
