Thanks to Scott the Woz and ScClarity for the inspiration! Also, I *completely* forgot about Bob the Builder: Can We Fix It? on PC; I was a big Bob the Builder fan and had the PC game. This was a good reminder that I need to give the Ape Escape games another shot. I played the first one a bit, but never felt like I gave it a fair shot. Also, never knew about Frogger’s Adventures. Very curious about this one and am wondering if this was developed internally at Konami or if it was outsourced. 🤔

    • @maximum.collecting
      @maximum.collecting 8 дней назад

      @@RewindArcade I just looked and Frogger was developed by Hudson Soft (but published by Konami). As I’ve gotten older, I’m starting to think *every* game ever was developed by Hudson Soft! I am not at all nostalgic for PS1-era graphics (I think they’re atrocious now), but aside from story, they’re *probably* isn’t a need to play AE1 (but someone will probably tell you different). AE2 is just such a well-polished game with enough to do so that it doesn’t feel too long or too short! Of all the games in this “series,” PLAY THIS ONE!

    • @RewindArcade
      @RewindArcade 8 дней назад

      @@maximum.collecting Yeah, Hudson Soft was a development (and publishing) juggernaut in Japan. Unfortunately, Konami later purchased them and most Hudson properties either stopped being made or had a drastic drop in quality. I've been told by other people to skip AE1 as well so I'll definitely start with AE2 instead, which I assume is still very (hopefully) affordable these days.

The Dokapon series is something I’ve watched a few videos on over the years and have gained somewhat of a mild appreciation for even though I never played it (though I do remember the PS2 and Wii version arriving in shipment on launch day back when I worked at GameStop. 😅) Lately, I’ve also been very curious about the Momotarou series which falls into the similar type of board game style genre and was created by Hudson Soft. Thanks for the video dude!

      I would love to hear about its release history from your perspective since it was an Atlus release and (I think) they had a tendency to have very short prints, so interesting to hear of it getting into GameStop back in the day! The Heracles series is something I’ve I had a fascination with this year since I got GoH4 for the SFC to sell, but it never moved after 5 cons and ended up in my collection instead, haha. A Taxing Woman is another one I’ve run into a lot during research and would love to play (if it’s translated). It was produced by Ghosts ‘n Goblins creator Tokuro Fujiwara. The GBC is something I'm not as knowledgeable about since I had kind of moved away from handheld gaming for a while at that point in my life. It is an incredibly fascinating point in gaming history though due to the sheer amount of Pokemon clones (some of which you covered in this video) and how small of a jump the technology was in terms of being successor hardware. I think the thing that really surprised me the most in this video is the Dancing Furby game. I always forget that the GBC has IR since very few games actually use it. I really want to see this in action and may even track down a copy of the game and a Furby myself just to mess around with it, haha. The Sakura Taisen GBC game is one I've really wanted to check out. I'm not 100% sure but I think it may have a fan translation. I know it's a pain and a lot more work, but I'd love to see some gameplay of these titles in the background while you're talking about them. Some games are pretty self explanatory, but there's a few weirder ones like Burger Burger Pocket and Dancing Furby that would be cool to see in action as you chat about them. Awesome work as always my friend, keep it up!

    • @maximum.collecting
      @maximum.collecting 10 месяцев назад

      I think the IR panel is the most interesting thing about it because, like you said, nobody ever uses it! My GBC has an IPS screen and the IR panel is merely used for brightness adjustment by tapping it-not even close to its original use! I’ve been told that gameplay in the background would be helpful-if only I edited any of these, haha! Maybe someday these will be more than just a lecture 😂 Thank you as always!

    Nice work on this man! This episode is already dated with one day with F-Zero 99. 😂😂 As for the WW2 game, in Japan video games were much more accepted to be for adults too so I think this, along with other more complex games, were targeted at an older audience. Interesting regardless though! Final Fantasy IV actually did release on the PS1 in the West within the Final Fantasy Chronicles collection bundled with Chrono Trigger, though they were all standalone games on the PS1 in Japan. Thanks for the video dude, look forward to more!

    Definitely a lot of deep cuts in this episode! I remember trying desperately to get a Bahamut Lagoon fan translation to work in the mid/late-90s on an emulator but it kept crashing during the opening. 😮‍💨 Aerobiz is a game I’ve always been curious about which I need to sit down and try. And I’m sure that Contra Spirits was a little pricey since the Contra games in Japan (similar to Castlevania/Akumajou Dracula) are generally a lot more expensive over there. Nice work man!
