Took me until I'm 50 to learn the difference between genuine love and attachment. Love is expansive and gentle and beautiful whereas my experience of attachment is more a narrow focus and quite painful really.

I do not understand HOW to let go of attachments to people. Therefore I am single indefinitely and have only one friend and no other relationships. It seems that the loner life is the type of lifestyle that will cause me the least suffering because relationships bring me suffering and when I’m in relationships, I cause those people suffering.

How does one overcome attachments to places, our city our house and learn to let them go? This helps with relationships with people but I wish it could help with my problem I have to move for financial reasons but I love this house and city my birth city and I've lived here a long time and I am too attached to this house and to this city to let them go. The last time I tried to move 2 hours before the movers came I had a severe panic attacks that stopped only when they said ok we're turning around.... thank you to whoever can help

Is it unconditional love.?

Love is the only truth, it is not a mere sentiment but the very essence of creation. Love, the energy, is the absence of everything else.... like light is the absence of darkness, not the presence of light, so Love, not the romantic kind but rather the universal kind, is the absence of everything else...the absence of greed, hate, fear, discrimination, guilt, shame etc.... thus, it is the only truth.

Saw this a while back and it remains the best insight Iand advice 've ever heard about loing another.

No disrespect towards Buddhism because I respect Buddhism a lot. I think it's one of the few religions on earth that actually make a good bit of sense. BUT this sounds awfully similar to when my dad always says nobody should ever have pets because all that happens is you get attached to them just for them to die. Just because everyone and everything you will ever love in this lifetime dies, doesn't mean you shouldn't get attached to anything or anyone. Also, attachment and love don't have to be separate things in order for love to be real or pure.

very nicely explained! but somehow its the way human emotions work, attachment is integral part of life. For e.g. Look at attachment between mother & son or daughter so its more about self realization of this attachment knowingly instead of resisting with it. Human survival exists because of desire and attachment otherwise everyone will become Buddha :)

Maybe it's me but, I feel like when she says "in our relationships" I have interpreted it to mean, friends, family, partners, and strangers. I have not seen a single post about other forms of relationships and I wonder if people truely understand that this can be applied to all relationships then just your partner.
