Welcome to our 1876 Dutch farmhouse, where we are currently redesigning, restoring and DIY-ing every room, trying to bring back some of the character that has gone lost in recent renovations. I’ll be sharing our progress but also all other things that (might) happen around the farmhouse.
Hopefully I’ll be able to inspire you! Or at the very least, entertain you with our trials and errors. :D

Building a compost bin - Happy summer!
This was a spontaneous project and I love it! I missed our old compost bin so I built us a new one! Allthough not a complete new makeover, i still hope you enjoy this one :D

You can get paint for those bathroom tiles........then you may not have the hassle of replacing them. ( tile paint is a thing )
Refinish with stain then paint a design on the floors seal then done! I love the tiles because they are rustic and unique

Love the gallery rail! I bought wooden chess pieces and tried drilling into them the same way but it didn’t work for me at all! I keep breaking them. Tried smaller bits than bigger ones. They still break. Any best practices or ideas on how to successfully drill 6mm holes in those pawns?
Oh no! I'm sorry it didn't work for you!! I had to drill very very slowly without putting any pressure on it. You also don't want the drill to become hot so if that happens, let it cool off a bit before continuing. Maybe that helps? Good luck!

I’m so impressed with your handcrafted built in design! It’s beautifully done and the arrangement is lovely. I have a tip to share about moving large pieces of furniture. Take a flat piece of cardboard, shimmy it under the front, or side of the furniture and push. Move the cardboard along and push until you’ve got the furniture to its destination. If you have help with the cardboard it goes faster. With this tip which came from my mother, we were able to get a 300 pound wooden file cabinet up 4 stairs, into the house and in its new home.
