I can't imagine it makes much difference - as long as they're not going to destroy the screw post. You could always test on a cheap blaster you don't care about first, to see how they go, before using on this one.

Yeah, I'm pleased with the result, but jeez the grip is tiny! I don't have big hands, but my fingers are crushed trying to fit onto it. It's definitely a blaster designed for little kids... Which I think makes the HPA mod suitably ridiculous 😎

Yep, HPA is a less common type of propulsion, but not necessarily more complicated. Some of my earliest build videos go into more detail about how things like Super Core & Spexbz work. And yes, this is powered by a remote-line bottle of compressed air.

Thanks mate - replacing screws is just something I do for all my mods now. It eliminates the possibility of stripping the original Phillips head ones when I open and close the blaster over time. They're cheap to buy in bulk, so my attitude is why not?

That one I got from Hobby King a few years back. Then that supply dried up, but I since found suitable Gaoneng ones on Ali Express - didn't seem to be a problem shipping them here 🤷🏻‍♂️ 850mAh seems a good size.

Oh yeah, lots of rain recently and hot weather meant that the grass had gone nuts. The council obviously hadn't yet had the opportunity to mow. It was certainly lush, which was a big difference to how this park usually is. Unfortunately it meant our dart sweep at the end probably missed a good proportion of darts 😔

It's an Airtac clone - 3/2 (3 ports, 2 position (on or off)). 1/8 NPT thread on the ports fits 1/8 BSP fittings, and 12 volt version for use with a 3S lipo. Like you would with a manual valve, this is in "normally open" configuration, although these can be swapped around to be "normally closed" for other uses - see my Super Prophecy build for how I did this for a full auto mod.

Neither - it's MJVO3. O for normally open, 3 for the third hole that vents air to atmosphere when you press the trigger.

You need the 3 - air venting to atmosphere provides the pressure drop which causes the quick exhaust diagram to flip position and release air forward firing the dart. You won't get this with a simple 2-position (open/closed) arrangement.

I did think about that - you can get all sorts of motors on Ali Express but I wasn't ever sure from the specs what would be much of an upgrade on the stock motors.

I swapped out the original yellow gearbox that has plastic gears, with the blue version containing metal gears - that's optimal, but should be more durable. I also replaced the motor itself, which is also optimal but something with higher torque should give a slightly quicker response, and higher rpm can give faster rate of fire. Note that there is a difference between the Stryfe full auto kit and the Swordfish version - the Stryfe one has a few printed pieces to mount switches, motor etc - these are not required in the Swordfish shell because everything is already set up for you. Of course the voltmeter is optional too, and where you mount the rev trigger is up to you too.

@ItzikShviro I used a Fang Revamped motor - as it's nominally a 2S motor, I know it's quite capable of handing 3S voltage, which will bump the rpm even further. The gearbox can be found on Ali Express - search for "TT metal gearbox" 😎

@@andrewg_nerfmods For some reason the mosfet/resistor/diode (minute 3:55 in the video), is missing from the worker swordfish auto kit in their website. Is it a must? Also, do you have a wiring diagram by any chance?

Possibly - maybe with a better seal or bigger spring?

@@andrewg_nerfmods I think so, in your video you're racking the slide pretty quickly and the spring in mine is a bit too heavy to do that.

Thanks - sourced from local supplier Blastertech - it's just described as "Tactical foregrip", and yeah I think it goes really well with the look of the Tomcat - keeps that chunky vibe. I'm sure I've seen this design on Ali in the past, but no idea what it would be called. It's standard picatinny - maybe Airsoft suppliers may stock it?

There is a reinforcing part that runs along the top edge of the pusher. It's not particularly thick, but worth checking to see if it's not wider than the rest of the skinny pusher. Alternatively, you could combine both designs into one - that's probably a more stable solution 😎
