      I use xLights. In xLights you use the native arch model with the following settings. Layered Arches checked: Nodes: 156, 3 layers, Inside layer, 49: layer 2, 52: Outside 55. ZigSay layers checked, Lights per node, 3. This assumes that you are using the YPS pixel strips. If you are using different your layer needs maybe different. Reach out to me on Facebook messenger if you want a screen shot of the xLights settings.

    How much does a box cost to build? A pixie16 controller off light o rama is $380 already assembled so if this box costs $90 or more it’s not worth it

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 17 дней назад

      The build receivers range from $20 to $30, the ammo box is about $10, and the power supply is $30. You do have misc parts so add another $10. So bottom line ~$70 to $80. Now one of the advantages of receiver boxes is you get the controller next to the prop and don’t have to worry about voltage drop for long cable runs.

      Yes- programs like xLights can be used with a compatible controller to create different patterns on the tree/lights.

    Question, why 12v and not 24v if the LED's are compatible with both?

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 Месяц назад

      It depends on the type of LED lights you plan on connecting to the controller. If you buy 12 V pixels and feed them 24 volts you will fry some of the lights.

    • @MrPGB471
      @MrPGB471 Месяц назад

      @bergmannlights5149 Understood. But if you have the option of 12v with a few power injections or 24v with no needed power injections and LEDs support 24v it just seems like a no brainer, go wiyh 24v and not run multiple power lines (unless I'm missing something and I could be)

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 Месяц назад

      Yes, more volts less power injection. Personally I haven’t done a cost comparison of getting 24v LED’s vs 12V. From the places I normally purchase my pixels from 12v is readily available at a reasonable price. Do you know the cost difference between the two.

      Be careful and make sure the pixels come from a reputable vendor. A few years back there were a bunch that had quality issues. Some caused fires.

    Thanks for the video! Couple questions. Are these RGB or RGBW? If RGBW, what is the power consumption? Trying to figure out how far I can go without power injection. Thanks!

      I am using RGB pucks. YPS does sell RGBW pucks but I don’t have those. I am running 120 RGB lights without power injection. At 150 I noticed enough voltage drop to change the lights color. If you drop the brightness you can go more than 120.

    I am a beginner. How does the raspberry pi fit in to all this? Will I need 2 if I have a projector? I want to locate my Falcon 5 controller box at my megatree. And the RPi inside it with WiFi going to the RPi to transfer and control it via Remote Desktop. Are you sending the Xlights app sequence file to the RPi and then it talks via Ethernet to the Falcon player (or WLED Dig Quad, etc) that then drives the RGB lights? I have setting up the layout figured out (I think!)

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 2 месяца назад

      I use my pi with FPP loaded on it. It allows me to run the show without tying up my computer. I use the xLights tool FPP connect to upload the sequences to it.

      @ Thank you for answering :-) If I run a projector in my show, the same RPi will do it? (HDMI projector) or should I use another one? Can the 2 sync together (e.g., one running the lights and one running the projector hD video).

    • @bergmannlights5149

      I haven’t tried running a projector off of a pi yet. Not sure if the one running your show can handle the load of a projector and as the master. I suggest you go to the FPP facebook group or xLights zoom room and see what they say.

    How often do you place power injection points? (every 2 meters? 10 meters? 50 meters?) I have 60 meters of puck tracks. Can my Falcon 5 controller do all 600 lights on one port (or is it 510 per port?)

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 2 месяца назад

      You could do 600 on one port but you will need to do some power injection. My tests show that you can run 120 without doing power injection. When you get to 150 the last set of lights yellow, too low a voltage.

    You ran 800 on one port with power going to the back? Do seeds take that much less power to run? I would probably split mine 400 and 400 to try and stay under the limit, but I thought I would have to be running 4 different ports to this thing. How much power does this tree take? Amps?

    • @bergmannlights5149
      @bergmannlights5149 2 месяца назад

      I just set two of them up in my show. At 30% brightness in RGBW chase mode I am pulling 2.5 amps. When I add power injection at the back side it drops to 1.5 amps. I am setting up backside power injection since I have a star hooked up to the end of the tree. Hope this helps.
