The inlets left open on the other bank you are taking chances something doesn't fall in. Disconnecting the battery before you start is a must. All that coolent should be drained out the block before the head is removed. Now it's run down the cylinder walls into the oil. Push rod might be damaged. Head bolts probably consider replacing. There is always the possibility that the head the block is no longer flat.

At least drain the coolant so you don't get it all over and down the cylinders. Why make your job harder?

Them lifters that shut off turn it into a 4 cylinder when driving are junk. Freaking think this saves gas mileage. All this does is know your going to need a motor job eventually.

If I swap out the dod lifter can I keep the stock cam

AFM and DOD Junk design...good ole fashion regular roller lifters in my 02 silverado with a 6.0 and 257k miles til this day👍🏿

Shouldn't there be oil squirting out of the pushrod end of the rocker to lubricate the fulcrum and valve tip?

I've heard and seen this crap . Terrible vehicles over priced computerized plastic junk . 85 c30 4 life. Plastic has no place on a truck. Get a hold of yourself man.

These LT motors are junk. The cylinder deactivating and the variable timing. I had one did the same thing but the lifter got stuck and ate the cam. So the motor was junk. Ive put in a used motor and deleted the software. I thought about doing the whole delete. But im going get rid of the truck and go to a 3/4 6.0 that dont have this garbage in it.

I had to get rid of my truck after lifter ticking no mechanic would touch it called like 7 the ones that would said it would cost $8000 for the dod delete and $5000 to replace one side with 4 new lifters if the cam was not damaged otherwise it would be more money. In the North Texas area couldn’t find anyone to do it at a reasonable price. My truck had 250k miles really cool setup. Now I made a decision to just pay extra for dealerships since local mechanics near me are few hundred cheaper than dealerships might as well pay the extra few hundred more since it’s not that big of a difference.

I think I'd just bypass it and use the heated seats for warmth. My, what an awful job this looks to be.

I don't recommend prying between head and block. I would use the intake or exhaust port. Also people should be very careful with razor blades on aluminum. Use plastic scraper and brake cleaner. Don't forget that ground strap will cause all kinds of problems later. I learned long ago Quacker State is crap. Good video and like your shirt. How many miles?

You are ready took the heads up just take her to the machine shop. Get them back the day you get them back finish up that job up at night but I’m not a professional. I enjoy seeing this video. You guys are doing. Decent work good work but always took mine to the machine shop. Let them do the hands.

If you hear this sound.. something in the setup is broken right? Someone i know had theirs replaced, last saturday.. paid a mobile mechanic over est 1600 And today i was over listening to it run.. has a crazy misfire at idle, showing cylinder 3, after week old coils and plugs and timing chain replacement. i could hear that same ticking sound..

Before I would put the lifters in I would have soaked them in oil or tranny fluid then put them in and ad oil to them to the more you keep them lubed the better and longer they will last I’m not shore if these just wore out or neglect by not changing the oil

My neighbor started up her equinox and it sounded like the chain grenaded itself. She then tried to start it again the next day but had zero compression from the sound of it. I went over to her door as she was cranking and said: “yeah that sound yesterday was the whole timing chain and parts of the guide, you need a tow truck”. Tow truck is there now 😂

How many miles on this engine? It was super clean inside. Obviously, the lifter did not fail because of poor maintenance.

It is supposed to be 1st torque to 20 lbs then 180 degrees then 170 degrees . So being it's a 15 model maybe it has changed

The lifter is not colaspe as if the spring had broke or even weakend. No the inner valve is stuck . Most likely the front half of the VLOM are lose
