In regards to all the character looks points you made(character customization, female protag, etc.) I would like to point out that in both games you play as a viral bioweapon that can mimic any human, and thus the protagonists technically don't even have defined genders/skin colors. Also a cool thing they could do is have both Alex and Heller show up in the third game with no explanation, only for it to eventually be revealed that they are fighting for control of the same body. Later in the story they could either separate and have you fight both or have a boss fight where you fight them and they keep taking control from each other. They could even do both and have the protag(Pariah) eventually consume both, remain in control due to being the perfect host, and become the ultime blacklight lifeform.

If DMCV thought me anything it's that having multiple characters in one action games is NOT a good idea.

And for the story they should have Alex Mercer be an escaped clone so it mimics the first game but with new hardware and game mechanics it would be a shocker to see again kind of like force unleashed 2. This could be set a little further in the future when the zones have all been eradicated of infected and the government has made the experiments extremely top secret. This allows for the story to unfold much like the first game and also be something new for the character. Maybe learning from James heller after the clone escapes from a secret black watch base in the countryside. Something like that

They need to keep everything from 1 and 2 and I would hope they add the karma and reputation to the notoriety system. That would be a cool ass game

The truth is, Alex Mercer played a huge role in making Prototype become a legendary game. His influence was so big that even when people talk about Prototype 1 or 2, they only focus on Alex Mercer. From building the main character (appearance, background, personality, ideology) to the storyline, everything was amazing until part 2 came out. Probably the developers’ biggest mistake was killing off Alex Mercer in part 2 - killing the brand that made Prototype special

Prototype 1 is a great game and the violence and the gore and combat are fundamental parts of it. If you take those away it won’t feel like prototype at all. It would be stupid to implement a morality system in a future prototype game.

Id love to see a prototype 3 is what i would say 6 yrs ago but in this gaming age id be scared diversity hires would destroy it just like concord or dragon age. If it one day gets made, which is highly unlikely, the devs would need to know what made the first 2 games so special, which is even more unlikely. I just hope there is a slim chance prototype 3 could be made with the same amount of care and passion just like the first 2 games were made.

I believe the first step should be to bring the Prototype games to the attention of modern players. Activision could achieve this by either establishing a new studio or bringing back Radical Entertainment to develop remakes of the first two Prototype games. If the remakes are successful, they could then start working on a story for Prototype 3.

Based on what you told, i think retconing Alex Mercer in the 3rd game would be awesome. Beinging him back and having both Alex and James going up against Peraiah would be a great game. Retconing might be confusing, so lets just write Alex in the 2nd game as just the Blacklight virus and The Alex in the 3rd game is the original from the first game, ruthless and heartless towards enemies but still cares about dena and people who are innocent. And peraiah was the one who created the 2nd Alex mercer.

It's strange that I last week I just got a feeling to play Prototype 2 because I want to feel some good games and all of a sudden there are videos coming up which just uploaded within last month.

This is my take abt prototype 3's story is gonna be: - alex mercer is waking up without memory just like the beginning of prototype 1 - turns out the city is destroyed and in the middle of the chaos of infection - everyone and everything is hunting alex. Our first goal is to get out of the city - the story is following alex trying to find out who he was. The only information that he got from the media and history is that he is the cause of the infection. And he should have died for a long time ago. Yet he doesn't have any recollection whatsoever - when trying to infiltrate gentek facility to find the answer, he finds some cctv footages abt him in some building in some part of the city - alex going there, to find some clues, but what he finds is pretty shocking.. He finds another alex mercer - this alex mercer is looking ill and he actually has his memory, but only a small portion. Then he turns into a monster and is attacking us. - we defeated him and stole his memory. Turns out, we had to collect all of our memories from another clone of alex to find out what's going on. - gradually we find out abt gentek was extracting alex mercer's corpse for research. - they created more and more clones of alex for whatever reason. Turns out the method of creating clones, is to inject alex mercer's dna from the corpse to the host body. The dna slowly infected the body and they turned into alex mercer. If the body rejects the dna, they turn into monsters. - our protagonist is trying to find out who he really was. He is going back to the facility he was in when he woke up in the first place looking for the answer. He finds out the information about the records about who he really was. He is trying to find his family - when he finds out the location of his ill mother, he is surprised that his mother knows alex mercer when she was young. Turns out, an "alex" is here just now, visiting her. - i'm done thinking, my brain fries.

I really don't know what to expect for Prototype 3 but I think that Insomniac should make the game.

Story: good Alex Mercer vs Evil Alex Mercer who took over James Heller's body. Also both Alex's are looking for Pariah in Nevada. Have it set in a stylized Las Vegas(so it can be as big as NYC). Gameplay: I don't know what to add. Maybe Alex is able to throw shield, use guns while body suffering, riding the bigger infected monster like how Spiderman rode rhino in we of shadows(pause), maybe give Alex a chainsaw/jack hammer arm. Add a bunch of “dungeons", infection casinos, military bases with Area 51 stuff, infected apartments building, etc. The open world should be more destructible. The player should be at throw/crash monsters/vehicles into buildings and continue the fight inside said building.

Playing as three characters sound really cool but the community infighting would also be hilarious 😂😂

The simplest way out is that Fake Alex from Prototype 2 was actually Elizabeth Greene from the first game. When the nuke exploded Alex shattered and Greene manifested again, and that thing who ate the crow at the end of Prototype 1 was actually her. The OG Mercer was later recovered by Gentech and it's being studied in a suspension state on the same installation as Pariah. The third game could start with Pariah staging an uprising and accidentally (or perhaps deliberatelly) released Marcer back into the US.

My pick for a developer team to make Prototype 3 would be id software. They have the experience, the cred, and the tech to make what's already kinda like a hack-and-slash version of DOOM.

Prototype is already dead because of two. It's better if the series gets rebooted and along with getting a proper sequel for the reboot because if not, well I can't wait for Infamous 4 and Gravity Rush 3 instead.

this is going to get a lot of hatred and i say this as someone who plays these 2 games religiously every few years BUT i think the best thing to do would be a full reboot EE hints at the original 2 games and nods at its just OVER THE TOP gameplay would blend well in todays gaming environment we havent had an antihero sim in well over 10 years now minus Second Son i think the release of BoTW to be specific kinda ruined how normies perceive a good open world sandbox

While I agree with Whitelight and think Pariah should be the 3rd game's protagonist, I disagree that his strength needs to dwarf Mercer or Heller. He's referred to as "the perfect release" which to me reads less like power and more like harmony. Mercer and Heller's powers manifest as boney growths and bulbous tumors, and their transformations seem painful. But Pariah is the perfect release, a perfect combination of human and virus, and his powers should reflect that. They should be streamlined and graceful, with less jagged edges and maybe even manifesting as entirely separate from his body instead of grafted to him like a gangrenous growth: an actual sword instead of a blade arm, stuff like that. I know it's a big step in a completely different direction compared to the previous games, but it could also present a bunch of fresh opportunities. Just spitballing, though.

I mean, ive already made up a theory on which, Mercer comes back from the two brawlers you see spawn at Prototype 2's Murder Your Maker area, Yeah they're apart of gameplay but it'd be so cool to see the two brawlers merge unwillingly by biomass of Mercer himself _similar to the crow scene after the nuke_ Then the two team up after a fight&talk, James Heller and Alex Mercer. Idk who they'll be against but I'm sure it's Pariah. (Game can be 2player or one on a different story)

In the past few days I've noticed an odd number of videos on Prototype from different channels.

I doubt a Prototype 3 is ever going to happen. It's too dark and edgy. And even if it comes back, it's probably going to be unrecognizable. In a bad way.
