Timelapse roof replacement.
Просмотров 42 тыс.4 года назад
This is a timelapse of the roof being replaced on our Carden project. The old roof was 70 years old with the boards starting to sag badly with moisture and age. Music: www.bensound.com
25/38 counter battens signs of a minge bag
Boarding the roof is a foreign thing. They have totally different climate to us. Roof will sweat like hell with those on…..
How long did the process take? And did people have to vacate property. Our roof has to be replaced being told 10-20 weeks or 6 months and have to leave the property the whole period and temp move? Is this actually required
Great job but boarding the roof is a terrible idea. Its going to create condensation. Thats the whole point of breathable felt so the roof can breathe and not sweat creating internal leaks
Are you talking about the sheeting? You know the sheeting provides structural support during wind ?
@@jackg2630 im Talking about them big massive pieces of board getting put onto the roof. That creates all kinds of problems and condensation. We felt and batten a roof thats it in the UK. The felt is breathable with helps the roof release any excess humidity
@@JW-cu7jj It's a requirement in Scotland, has to be boarded and counter battened
@@slashermcgurk2191 thats crazy. Can cause a lot of condensation that
no the timber strappings and wall plates provide the structural integrity
Missed a bit!😊
What's the cost of a job like this
Maybe $1
Prob 400$ per square
hvad med brolægning? er det noget i gør på kamera? eller skal man betale mere?
You left the next door's looking pure shite. #Cowboys
Great job guys ! Why put sterling board down first isnt the roof supposed to be able to breathe ie the Tiler breathable pitch roof membrane you put on top?
Yeah, that does make the whole thing look prone to gallons of condensation
My question is how long does that stay stuck to the upvc? Does it scratch off when the window cleaner does his job?
It shouldn't do if enough coats are added but just to be on the safe side, it may be best to go over with a multi surface clearcoat lacquer. That being said, most durable/external paints are designed to be safe regardless of weather/stress so best to read up on whichever paint you choose and go from there 😊
Cool Transformation.
great video is the paint scratch proof as i have customer who wants there door sprayed but they door keeps jumping up at door and scratching it?
@The Property Fixers Hi there 👋 The products used and techniques you demonstrated in this vid provided the most aesthetically pleasing outcome that I've seen from painting PVC windows in my hours of online and RUclips research. My only issue is that I live in The U.S. 🙄😂 and it appears that Kolorbond is not a distributor in the states. Would you be able to recommend any products or kits, for those of us across the pond, that would work in the same fashion and provide similar, if not exact, results to what you've achieved here? Thanks for any help you can offer, our front windows could really use a revamp!
Well done guys what are you working on now?
Hi - What equipment did you use for this - Brands please for sprayer etc?
Great video mate just wondering is there a specific spray gun I should use? Thanks in advance
The reviews for this product on Face Book are not good. Sure, there are the glowing 5-star reviews that no one can ever trust. But check out the 1 & 2-star reviews, to get a more honest review of this product. To us, using this product seems to be a bit of a gamble.
Amazing thank you for posting this.
Exactly the video I was looking for! Thanks for putting this out there. Just wondering how many coats did you need to cover the roughcast? Does watering down the paint adversely affect the weather proofing of the paint? Cheers
Hey Mark, it took 2 passes to fully coat it but it did have old paint already on the roughcast so makes it easier to cover. If it doesn't it would need another coat or two. Can't say how much it would effect it unfortunately but I'm guessing with enough coats to not look patchy it would be fine. Hope this helps Andy
Excellent thank you!
Awesome bro !!!
I’m going to attempt this Friday m8 but I’m going to order the same brand but In the spray tins as I don’t have a spray gun cheers for this mate
I used black hammerite internally never painted upvc door before and it turned out quite some contamination but ill wet and dry and touch up at a later date
Superb buddy. Just what I was looking for.
Great renovation welldone tried the masonary sprayer worked a treat on three bed semi👌☺️
Sorry to tell you but you would be much better off with a airless sprayer for that rather than HVLP. The Finish looks patchy too. I guess that was the first coat? Even a roller on a extension pole would be faster than that machine and look more solid than that, no need for scaffolding and much better results. This is not a professional paint job and more a 'that will do' approach, but fine if you have low expectations and on a budget, Otherwise leave it to the professionals.
Ive come to paint the front of my house.only a small bit of paint was coming out.it was as if something was blocked.took it apart and cleaned it but still no paint coming out.have you any ideas?
You could either try fully adjusting the screw stopper behind the trigger to let the most paint through or water down the paint a bit more.
Did you use the sprayer before this attempt? I've also seen a small bit of grit or dry paint get stuck behind the brass nozzle. How far down have you stripped it to clean?
Yes i had used it a couple of times.i ended up ringing screwfix and took it back and got a replacement
Great spray gun for painting the house
So, my window frame is starting to flake in one area, looks like it is aluminium underneath with a upvc coating perhaps? Either way, would it work if I was to strip it back a bit, then paint over?
What compressor would you recomend?
What is the name of the paint sprayer..currently have one side of my house painted with a roller..pebble dash is a nightmare..have you a link for the paint sprayer?
There's a new version of the sprayer out now, here's the link...... www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-eps800-800w-electric-sprayer-240v/559kr
Great vid! I got a quote for £700 to spray my windows as I’m hopeless at doing stuff like this, however, your vid gives me confidence that I may be able to do it myself although I’m not sure if that’s misplaced confidence….
Don’t you have to prime um mate
No, just prep it with the products and spray straight on.
Turned the video off after 2 minutes and 8 seconds because there was no information apart from trying to be funny. Seriously dude, may I recommend next time you get into the actual painting of upvc.
Hi great video what sprayer dod you use it looks like a earuber
Certainly was, I think it's still on sale in screwfix for £50-£60
Hi did you use a diffrent hose with the gravity spray gun thanks
@@johnbish9479 so sorry, for some reason I thought this was another video we did. It was a compressor I used for the air supply on the window painting not the erbauer.
The 1st coat should of been a dust coat .
Hi, what colour and paint you used?
Can you paint the interior side of PVC windows?
Yes, absolutely 👍
What a great video.. Can I ask what psi you have your compressor set at?? Many thanks
Did you mask up the windows. Also I tried to use this sprayer to do a fence but the wind was taking the paint all over th place. How would you tackle over spray? Many thanks
Great Video 👍🏻, What two colours did you use on the grey exterior? Thanks
Thanks, it was Dulux Weathershield pale slate for the walls and Goodhome (B&Q) Oakland for the windows
What spray machine did you use to paint with and will this do kitchen cabinet as well ?
Hi , do you use a water filter and a regulator for the spray gun? Thanks
Hi, I've not attached the water filter on this occasion but there's no harm in adding it. The spray gun I use has a regulating valve at the base but if it didn't have one I would definitely add one in-line. Hope this helps Andy
@@thepropertyfixers3028 Thanks for the reply I appreciate your help 👍
Where can I view price list for Windows and doors? Cheers
Great video very informative 👏 I've just brought a compressor and set to give my Windows a go. My question is would you be able to do a more detailed video on masking ? Would really appreciate the knowledge before I have a go on mine. Keep the videos coming Thanks Danny
Hey, first of all thanks for the compliment! I think it would be easier if you could find our Facebook page and message that. That way I could send you pics and maybe short videos on it 👍 Andy
Thinking of doing the same to the front of my house. How long can the paint be kept in the gun for? Were you cleaning, prepping and spraying each window individually?
Hi, I was able to keep the paint in the gun for a day and didn't suffer any issues with clogging (it might be able to last longer) and on average I was doing around 3 windows a day but that also included touching up the masonry paint and moving the scaffold tower. I also generally prepped each window as I went too. Hope this helps Andy
@@thepropertyfixers3028 thank you. Enjoying your journey and glad your passing on the lessons learnt. Keep it up👍
What about the rubber seal? U painted it and now it s ruined
Any good for glossing doors
Would a Wagner W590 HVLP sprayer be suitable for the Kolorbond UPVC paint?
That's a great help, thanks. I've patio doors that need this treatment, newer than the rest of the windows which we're due to replace. This will help with getting rid of the feuchie broon as we call it here in Aberdeenshire lol. I'll look through the comments to find the materials you used - hopefully, Screwfix and Toolstation in Aberdeen can supply all. It'll be the same RAL code that you used that I'll need. Fingers crossed it goes well......
Good luck with it, if you need any more advice feel free to ask!
what are the makes of the window prep and vinyl please? :)
We actually get them from Kolorbond too. They pretty much supply everything you need. Hope this helps
