The thing a lot of people don’t realize about Ike is that he’s one of the few characters where even some of his hardest winning matchups overall still have 2-3 of the best anti Ike tools on the roster. For GnW: his rising nair is one of the best buffered nairs and anti airs, his chef and aerials all beat Ike really well. (He doesn’t have a direct down b counter for his recovery but chef lasts so long it will hit where a max range Roy/other counter may have whiffed). And his juggling can rack up hella damage on a frame 4 airdodging heavy like Ike. (Still can get walled out obviously and is still a minus 2 to 1 imo, minus 1 if the game and watch REALLY KNOWS the Matchup). Also the counter/upsmash thing was interesting. Myself and most other Ike’s hardly use counter because it’s so bad but this just makes it even worse haha. Jiggs: has some great anti airs with pound, edgeguards with wall of pain, and several ways to kill Ike from the 50-80% range when he usually relies on living longer in some sets. Still -2 though cause Ike doesn’t ever need to approach, jiggs can’t cover sideb on long stages well etc. (even tho I play pretty aggro myself it’s still usually feels easy as a -2) I did a full mu chart a while back but the tldr is Ike is the most mid midtier (maybe upper mid/low high on an amazingly lucky day) in this game because his character design has some of/the most polarizing flaws of all the swordies. As an Ike main tho I do really love what you did here great breakdown of the matchup, well timed examples, and very useful info I hope more gnw players will use to make the matchup more interesting (only correction I have is Ike players hardly use downward angled ftilt/that move to 2frame because Dtilt is much faster and can be spammed better, eruption has a bigger/wider hitbox, and T spike dair or upb (facing away from the stage or toward it) catch way better and kill earlier in 99% of matchups). Awesome video overall tho. I’m curious to see how it’d go if we played 🧐😅 Feel free to dm me on discord.
