Three color double-knit chart following

Three color double-knit chart following
This is the best tutorial I’ve found online for the selvedge. Thank you so much!!
How does this change when if I want to change colors on my new row? Should I not worry about selvage when changing colors over a stripe?
I generally don't work color changes all the way to the edges but I do have one scarf where it was necessary. Because of the shape and size of body stitches vs (stretched) selvedge stitches, the selvedge color changes ended up a little out of alignment with the horizontal stripes. That's just going to happen, because you can't make a color change on a pair you're slipping rather than working. You can see what I'm referring to in the third photo on this Ravelry project: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/resistimus
@ Thanks for the example! The alignment isn’t too bad because it’s a two row stripe. The pattern I’m using has a one row stripe thrown in so at least one edge won’t have my color change, so I was looking for ways to avoid slipping on selvedge but I don’t think that’s possible. I might try stopping the color change right at the selvedge. Then at least the edges are consistent? Either that or knitting the edges together for the swirl which may look messier…
@ like on your Waverley pattern! if I keep the selvage edges consistent like that, hopefully it’ll come out nicely
Wait .. wait I’ve never tried that trick when switching colors with one sting in front and one in the back… hmmm. 🤔 this might work
Can you show us how to cast on three colors for double knitting
There is no good three-color cast-on; I've tried. I recommend you cast on in two colors as usual, and then add the third color in the first row.
Right to the point, no time wasted. Love it.
Thank you for such an easy instruction video! I need to mentally flip all videos as I knit mirror image of others. I could easily follow your instructions.
Super clear!! Got it right away!
I wanted to thank you for making your doubleknit techniques videos! This bind-off perfectly matched my method of cast on for a scarf. This tutorial was easy to follow and learn from. Oh, i was also able to do this bind-off with a crochet hook in lieu of a dominant hand needle for those of you familiar with crochet as well. ❤
Much better than other cast on's I've tried. Thank You
This is exactly what I needed! So glad i found you
One of the ancient Egyptian socks, 3,000 years old, has now been identified as two needle knitting. The idea that knitting is new comes from the progressive (Marxist) political ideology. The rarity of examples in textile archeology is likely due to rarity in the past, because weaving uses less yarn, and thus requires less spinning. In textiles especially, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Marvelous, thank you
Ingenious! Good for single colour double knitting, too!
Thank you! You made my beginner knitting life so much easier 🎉
This is very interesting, 🌸
Thank you!
thank you!
Fantastic. Thank you very much for teaching this.
Hello! I was researching my ancestors and one of them was a ‘doubler’ on the 1850 census. Any idea if this is what a double-knitter professional was coined as back then? I’m having trouble finding a true description of the term. Thank you!
No, but (according to a quick google search) you're not far off -- at least in the right field. according to a list of "Victorian occupations" a doubler was "A person who operated a machine used to twist together strands of cotton, wool or other fibre."
I am glad that I found this post. Definitely like the looks of this bind off.
Guilty as charged, software engineer who loves to knit. Great video.
I find the Italian cast on is easier for me. Your technique is great as well
The Italian two-color CO is wonderful if you want an invisible edge, but it's not stable so you have to make sure to do the whole thing in a sitting and immediately start the next row/round. I still prefer to teach and use this one, but keep the Italian one for specific uses. Glad you like both!
Please don't die (just yet). 😃
Please don't take this the wrong way, your content is very good, but when you say "eaaamm" after every single sentence this quickly became unbearable to lisen to. This is something you really should practice of not doing...
Learn to live with it. Sorry.
One of the most clear and concise double knitting videos I've watched...and I've watched a few as new to the double knitting genre even though I'm quite an experienced knitter, double knitting does require different techniques that I wasn't versed in. So thank you for this video and sharing your skills.
Thank you so much! The audio is pretty good - as the content is :)
Thank you
Thank you for posting this, it looks interesting. I'm wondering if there's any chance of adjusting the levels on the audio? Even with the speakers on my laptop turned up to 100% and the RUclips volume turned all the way up, I can only catch the occasional word.
That's odd ... it sounds fairly normal here. I don't want to second-guess your experience, but have you tried it on a different computer or different browser?
@@FallingbloxDesigns Other videos aren't an issue. I don't have access to another device at the moment.
Do you have a video introducing how to do double knitting.... the very basics?
3:59 can this be used in the Corvus scarf pattern?
It could be, if you wanted to put purls into your mock-ribbing at the ends of the scarf, but it's not charted that way. It's just a 1x1 color pattern, not a texture pattern. It's meant to look like ribbing or tassels but doesn't have that kind of structure.
This yes so helpful. Bi haven’t tried DK with a third color yet. But I do have to say that your videos are so clear and easy to follow. My next DK project I’ll definitely be looking through your tutorials to improve my knitting skills. 🙂
My brain goes numb hearing the descriptions. I start to hear rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb. It’s just my faulty or weirdly different wiring. Somehow when I watch what you do my brain likes it and I get it. Your actions are beautifully clear to me. Thank you.
i want to double knitting a dog with 3 colors but I don't know how
It's great to see a fellow software engineer doing knitting. Thank you for the video, I found it very useful.
From a fellow software engineer that loves knitting, thank you for this useful video and all these double knitting tutorials! I enjoy creating my own designs but I am still learning the technique and these videos are very helpful.
thanks a lot .....
Hay hombres... Explican con las patas... 🙄
Hope your wife is now fully recovered. Thank you again for your great videos.
Binge watching your videos at the moment, thank you. I’m an experienced knitter but double knitting is new to me and I’m loving it. So many new opportunities for me to explore. ❤😊
Do you have a Facebook page? 😊
I do, and while there hasn't been a lot of activity there lately, there will be more soon. facebook.com/fallingblox/
I’ve just started double knitting and really happy with the results. Can’t wait to learn more, thank you 😊
crisscross in the open center?
Thank you.
I really like the stacked fow paw sample. I look forward to see where you go with it.
Fox Paws is such an incredible pattern. I loved knitting it!
I have always wanted recordings I learn easier that way. I have not figured out the virtual stuff yet. We are sstill catching up for recovery after our house flooded.
I would love to have a video that showed double knitting cast on, selvedge, doing double knitting from a chart all of it in one video. I am still confused about double knitting and it would really help me.
I would love to have a video from you showing cast on, selvedge, double knitting from charts all of it in one video. It would help me a lot. I am still confused with double knitting. Please help. Thank you so much for your help
Hope your wife is well. I am finally well enough to watch your RUclips videos.
TY for video, I used it for my project and liked the look BUT now I'm stuck because I don't know the bind off that will match this cast on ! Can you help??
I have a hat that I had adjusted from a pattern that did a weird decrease for the top (plus, it wasn't double knitted). I have been trying to figure this out and have been struggling with it. Your video was EXACTLY what I was looking for!! Thanks for sharing. :)
