i replaced the same solenoid (c or 3) after getting the same code. after 1500 miles it came back but sometimes will randomly go away, and i can clear the codes, and itll act normal. any thoughts?
The connector or the wires are either not making good contact, need to be bent and pressed, or the wire is shorting out somewhere. Just a thought. I bent the male pins when I was in there, sometimes it even fixes the problem without replacing the solenoid. From what you're describing, it sounds like a connectivity issue with the connectors or wires.
@ do you know where the transmission harness plugs in? i did use a remanufactured solenoid. i got a free replacement from the seller, gonna try to replace it and bend the pin
@@branson.cz1 Check out this link for testing the shift solenoid www.clublexus.com/forums/is-1st-gen-2001-2005/965280-2001-automanual-is300-shift-solenoid-eai-issue-code-p0750.html. and here is a link to the wiring diagram bee-mfg.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/IS300-wiring-diagrams-2004.pdf. I bought my solenoid from lexus. I don't trust remanufactured solenoids. The ohm readings are really sensitive for these cars and I read that some resellers will sell a camry shift as a IS solenoids and the range is different and will still throw error codes. Also, I used Lexus transmission fluid as other brands viscosity can also cause problems. Good luck.
@ i just replaced the solenoid with another reman, it’s been shifting fine so far. also reused the same fluid and mixed it with a different brand. it’s really not that sensitive
@ Great news. It sounds like you got it knocked out. Congratulations.

Ya, Squishey, i felt your pain the first few times I did an oil change on my IS300 22 years ago. But I still have it and have done at least 40 or 50 oil changes myself since then. I use a similar method with the plastic bag, but I cut a notch out of the mounting tab on the Transmission dipstick, which allows you to only have to loosen the bolt without removing it completely so you can slide it off and pull the TM dipstick and upper tube out of the way.. Realigning that bolt is a pain due to the angle. But that gives you enough clearance to pull the bag through and prevent a big mess. I also put a rag just below the filter and have tried multiple oil filter wrenches, as that angle and clearance sucks, too! . Hope that helps anyone else DIY'ing their IS.
nothing the trans dip mount tab is genius. I'm definitely going to make my life easier with that trick. That bolt is insufferable.

did i just see you tighten the fastening bolts to torque before the main bolt…? yeah of course its “snuck” it cant go anywhere with those bottom bolts clamping down on it!!! i dont have two of the same size hex key so i have to loosen and tighten the fastening bolts on each side so that i can put my front wheel back on tightly. trust me broski youre gonna wanna tighten those lower two bolts last, and also put some good high temp or normal grease on your center punch thingy that you hammered out of the wheel. not much.
Hell yeah nice good vid man thanks

I had sticker shock when I found out how much the Dealer wanted to charge. I decided to just fix it. It's been several years and a lot of drive through car washes and I'm happy to report, it's still on there.

Graphite? Not 3in1…
3 in 1 is great.
Brake cleaner first with toothbrush then a little lithium spray?
the years were not very kind and the previous owner must have had a lot of lint in his pockets. Any PTFE, teflon, dry lubricant or graphite works well from what I understand.
This is S3 correct? (Shift solenoid valve No.3 (S3) I see on the identification page it’s named that. But S3 on the parts info it is listed as solenoid assembly, automatic transmission 3-way No. 2. Is this correct?

where can i get the replacement part ??
I got it from customer service under warranty, some other commenters didn't have much luck with customer service. I guess it depends on what you say and who you get. support@hjchelmets.com or 562-407-2186. Some commenters flipped the cable and had some success and since it's like a bicycle cable, doing a bicycle cable repair. The damage is called birdcage and it happens on brakes. I also know some bike shops custom make cables and might do bird cage repairs and there are blogs, forums, and videos on it. It's something like twisting the cable tight and then soldering lead in it to hold it in place then grinding it back to size or light tapping with a small hammer. All with risks. The small screw strip really easy if you decide to tackle the project and good luck. I would hope enough people complain to customer service so they would at least make the parts able to be purchased.
Can you tell me what is the name of that part?! I have a Z1R Jackal and the same thing just happened to mine. The cable got all bunched and the helmet was stuck in the up position. I found it googling in a forum. Either clublexus or my.is.
@ 1:10 how did you put that back? Mine somehow popped out and I can’t figure out how to fix it
The black plastic piece inside the door? It's held on with torque screws.
I just had this trim piece break off - this video has almost convinced me to try and glue it back while in place lol
I’ve done this twice now but my JB weld doesn’t seem to stick for more than a couple months 😢
I cringe every time you use a impact,
MY rear handle broke in the same way. I decided to repair it with hot staples because I didn't want to have one new handle nor did I want to replace them all due to cost. Thankfully 2 hot staples in opposing directions worked great!
Heating staples is a great idea. I'm going to use it. I use mesh for plastic welding.
@4:53 Bro thank you sooooooooo much!!!
Great video. Seems like it took you a couple of days but you got there. Hope the test ride went smoothly. It’s really hard doing things the first time but by number fifteen you should be good at it. That’s why mechanics do these standard maintenance jobs better than DIYers because they do them, if not everyday at least once a week.
Yes sir, It's been good for a few years now. A good mechanic is invaluable. I wish I could find one.
That is a lot of work 😢 dealer wants 80$
Only $80? I'd take him up on it. Mine wanted $360. I figured, how hard can it be? Pretty difficult it turns out.
Was that red thread lock? Did it call for red? That bolt is never coming out again without heat.
I was so happy when I first got my bike, and so fucking furious the first time I needed to get the bike lift up.
You and me both. lol. Looking back on it, it’s kind of funny in my case
I typically refer to "Grandpa Google" when attempting a new repair job that I have never done before. This is one of those times. I watched a couple of other videos and was not satisfied that I had a solid understanding of the process for replacing fork seals. Then,.... I found this video. I watched it twice because I was laughing too much the first time. I wasn't laughing at you because of the mistakes you made, i was laughing because I thought for a second,...."Did I make this video?" I have now subscribed to your videos and you are now my "Go to Grandpa Google guy." Thank you for your patience and perseverance!
Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment. "Only a fool learns from his own mistakes. The wise man learns from the mistakes of others."
Just replaced my solenoid yesterday. I ended up putting a little over 2.5 quarts and drove it home after that, I realized you said wait 15ish hours before driving, is it okay that I drove it right after?
I honestly don't remember why they say to let it sit for awhile. I know if the dealer replaces it, you can drive home right away. I think it just needs to soak, but it should be okay.
Is that code the same as p2757?
It's not the same part. DTC P2757 Torque Converter Clutch Pressure Control Solenoid Performance (Shift Solenoid Valve SLU). In the diagram it an SLU. Have you tried changing the transmission fluid first? Not a full flush, i heard a full flush could cause problems.
The small screws that you mentioned strip easily, do they send you new screws with the new hardware?
No screws sent to me. I don't know how to get replacement screws except off another helmet.
Great video, it helped me a lot. Today I did this to mine, can't say its 100% but its 90% better than before. Thank you for the how-to video. I found one thing to add, at the 4:40 mark in your video, "I found the problem, this part is sticking" I found that the black part just below and to the left; slides right out. Then onto the white part has that pin/spring through it (the sticking part). You can pick at the bottom of the pin with a small screw driver, to lift it and the white part out to allow cleaning behind and around this little part. Thanks for the video, not being critical, just trying to add my findings help you and others. Now to the guy that said "They sell refurbished actuators so you replace" Where, who are "they"? I couldn't find them, and one day I will need a replacement. Besides, the point of this video was to fix it yourself without having to shell out dough to replace it.
That's a great tip. Thank you. I look for a black stopper and a pin. I guess you can buy parts on parts, but if the motor is good and the plastic gear isn't broken, I prefer to save my money. That's just me. I'm working on a Rabbit door lock actuator for a freind right now. It's pretty much the same. It's been 2 years now and no new issues I'm happy to report. I'm happy to hear it helped out. Thank you.
i did all of the process and the door still needs to be slammed hard to close. going to look at parts cars to get another actuator.
I have an I-9 and I need a cable assembly because mine done the same thing yours did. Where can I find that cable?
I had good luck contacting customer service, tell them it's less than 1 year old. In the comments some others did to, some did not. Also, someone reversed the cable with the frayed end on the top and that worked. And there is a bowden cable and you cane make lead ends, like a bicycle brake cable fix. I still haven't found a replacement online incase the one I have goes bad. If you can, post it in the comments.
you can get a key from the code number stamped on the tumbler barrel on the ignition... I lost my only key and was looking at a nightmare to get everything straightened out... got my key back... long story... now I have three keys... one to use , one in my wallet, and one at home....cost me less than 20 bucks to get keys cut...
I've been trying to get access to the key code charts and databases for awhile. Everytime a site comes up it gets shutdown. Typically dealers and license locksmiths can pay to access these if you can get one to decode the pins from the key code, which I'm not either. I just don't want to have different keys for different locks. Just 1 key for all the locks and repinning is not that big of a deal. Self cutting keys is pretty easy to, it just takes time.
I love these cars ❤
They are so easy to work on, parts are available, and they are so dependable.
They sell refurbished actuators so you replace
cleaning it and relubing worked pretty good.

Thank you! just what I needed to dismantle my helmet and fix the problem
Nice!
Hey Squishy, as an is300 owner for over 20 years changing its oil every 3k, I recommend removing the oil; stick and transmission stick and inserting the new oil filter in backwards right at the transmission stick location, once in rotate it into to its receiver position. Prior to this use your old oil filter to rub oil on the new filters gasket prior to installation. Oil changes with new filter on is300 require only 5 quarts of oil, the standard oil gallons they sell should work fine no more no less than required. This job should take 20 minutes max.
Requires 5.7 qts of oil with filter change. 5.4 qts if you aren’t changing oil filter…but who isn’t changing the filter. 5 qts is incorrect information.
Thanks. I had a similar issue with my i-90 helmet and this was very helpful. FYI My helmet is only 1 year old. I contacted HJC about the issue and they sent me the replacement cable for free.

Hi, in the comments some people flip the cable, also you can twist and solder lead into it like bicycle cable repair. You can also try to contact customer support to send a replacement. Fix will work as long as there is still cable strands left and not to damaged. If cable strands are too damaged, then the fix will not work.
@@Squisheyy i appreciate your kind reply. As hjc is korean company, there are maybe many of customer service center than any other foreign country. 😃 your video was super helpful to understand functioning of helmet by the way !!!
I didn't know it was a Korean company. I hope some day HJC would sell the part like LS Helmets does.
