The ZF8 HP is, in my opinion, one of the best transmissions on the market. Various car companies, such as BMW, use this transmission for both luxury and performance applications. BMW uses this transmission on a lot of their cars, and after riding in a couple of them, I've felt the responsive yet smooth characteristics when driving. I think with the shift time of 200 milliseconds and the reliability that the ZF8 brings, it can even be better than some twin clutch transmissions. Though my transmission is not built like the ZF8 internally, I wanted to model it after a real transmission. Thank you for watching, and thanks to those who actually read this!

The Mercedes M139 is the most powerful production 4 cylinder engine in the world. The engine I built is modeled after the E-Performance version in the C63 AMG with an electronic turbocharger. Even though it is just a 2.0L four cylinder, it is the best of its size.

This is pretty neat, especially how compact it is for an 8 speed. I guess Lego isn't that good at making transmissions space efficient for their sets. Also I though in auto-stick vehicles pushing the shifter forwards will cause an upshift, not pulling it back?
Yes, for some it is like that, for example Volkswagen group cars are typically up shifting as you push the stick forward, but BMW does it the opposite way. For BMW, upshifts are pulling back. It may seem odd at first but for some reason it actually makes a lot of sense to me now. Great question. Thanks for the comment!

idk why i thought of this, but if you put a drill in the thing that makes it move (obviously without damaging it), that would seem really cool. anyways, nice model!
If you check out my other videos, I do have an electric motor that runs the engine and my tachometers! I wonder what would happen if I hook it up to the drill? Probably better response on the tachometer, but I am worried that it may snap some pieces if anything gets stuck because of the torque. Thank you for the thought! I’ll see what I can do!

I built this engine from scratch! On the amfautomotiveworks.com website, the Ferrari F154 is sold as artwork rather than Lego’s. I hope this helps.

really cool lego project! One thing to note is that Horsepower is simply torque * rpm / 5252. This means that the horsepower always equals torque at 5252 rpms, and the horsepower graph is simply dependent on the amount of torque made as well as the rpm; whenever the torque is constant, like your curve from 4k-7k rpm, the horsepower would be increasing. .
Thanks for the observation. I didn’t think of that. I was just trying to see if I can get the general motion of the gauges as I had seen in a bmw sport display. I’ll try to work this in if I do another one. Thank you!
