2014 Ford Escape Dash Removal and Evaporator Replacement
Просмотров 17 тыс.Год назад
In this video I go step by step to remove the dash and replace the evaporator on a 2014 Ford Escape. In the course of the video I mentioned a tool I used to remove the heater hoses. I bought mine from Matco, but it’s also available from Lisle (probably the same company that supplied Matco). Here is the link… Lisle 39200 Heater Hose Disconnect for Ford 2.0L , Blue a.co/d/9Bmf2i2

In this video I am removing the dash and evaporator of a 2010 Chrysler Town & Country van. This procedure should be essentially the same for all 2008-2010 Chrysler Town & Country vans, and the same year range of Dodge Grand Caravans as well.
F-150 High Speed Fans Running and Poor A/C Cooling (Expansion Valve)
Просмотров 57 тыс.Год назад
Hi folks, this is a re-upload. I accidentally deleted this video (after over 50k views!) This 2014 Ford F-150 had high speed fans roaring constantly and the air conditioning was barely blowing cool. I found a lot of information online about changing the expansion valve to cure this issue and sure enough, it works. Since filming this video last year, I’ve done this same repair a half-dozen times...

2013 Ford Taurus HVAC Mode Door Actuator Replacement
Просмотров 40 тыс.2 года назад
Customer complaint was “A/C only blows out the defrost and floor vents”. The scan tool showed the HVAC control module was commanding the actuator motor to move when I requested it but no movement was seen. Diagnosis-bad actuator. In this video I will go through the steps to replace the mode door actuator without removing the full instrument panel.
2005 Dodge Dakota 3.7 Valve Seal replacement
Просмотров 10 тыс.2 года назад
Hi everyone. I almost didn’t post this video because it ends abruptly. I accidentally deleted three or four segments of the repair at the end of the day. For some that will be annoying, and I apologize. Even so, I think some people may benefit from the portion that didn’t get deleted. The video shows most of the repair, it just doesn’t show the reassembly after swapping the seals. With that sai...

Worked a treat, New belt installed in minutes
Good words of caution from you at the beginning of your video. Thanks.
Just an update. It’s been 2 years and that ratchet is still working flawlessly. It’s my favorite cordless tool and I still use it daily. No problems at all with this motor.
Link please for motor
I appreciate tackling problems on your own, and saved a bit to boot, but as you probably know, any dealer worth working with will gladly meet up or let you know route schedule for a given day so you can find them. Kinda funny seeing random ppl walk on the truck at your shop, but it’d be rare for a shop or dealer to object. Just expect to pay in full usually as you’re near impossible to track down.
@@kart1241 the hard part is locating and scheduling to meet. I have tens of thousands spent on Snap-On, Matco, Mac, and Cornwell tools. Most of them are lifetime warranty. But now that I don’t work in a shop, and my area of operations is not near the last shop I worked in, it’s nearly impossible to find and work with the tool distributors. Especially Matco. My former dealer retired, so I can’t even contact him for help. So I do what I can to keep my tools going without their help. It’s too bad they don’t have a storefront location for people to visit.
Thanks in advance
About to do this in a hour Thanks in advance Mobile mechanics outta Detroit Mi Happy. New Years🎉
Wonderful detailed video thank you for that 😂🎉

If the ratchet smells excessively(metal smell) when turned on no smoke is the motor on the way out?
Not sure. But if it’s acting ok I don’t think I’d worry about it until it gives you problems.
@ thank you,I wanted to sell it,,just smells a lot stronger then an identical ctr761 And great video thank you
@ you’re welcome. Maybe shoot a little grease into the needle fitting on the ratchet head? Could just be a bit dry in the gear set.
I had this problem in my 2007 Town Car. Put a bottle of Barr’s Stop Leak and, voila, fixed it!
Oh my god after not eating anything today just one beer this trick worked first try after struggling with my power steering belt 😮❤❤❤ thanks
I appreciate this. The bolt to loosen my tensioner was rounded off and i tried other methods for over an hour. Finally came across this video and had it done in under 5 minutes.
Same here bro that 14mm bolt on the tensioner is done for
One of the best method of fixing ir forcing a shiort belt on its gear
I am being told by the dealership that my 2017 Ecoboost 3.5 needs a new water pump and thermostat because it doesn't push enough water through the engine, in turn causing the high speed fan to run nonstop. I call BS on that. I'm changing the expansion valve first.
Question. Does this heater pipe that you are replacing get plugged up? Asking because I recently had to replace the heater core in my 1998 Ford Expedition 4.6l and the cost was substantial, considering the age of the truck. I replaced it because I the heater core got plugged up because I wasn’t changing the coolant like I was suppose to. Long story short, it was causing all sorts of engine over heating issues. I could always tell when my engine was about to overheat. The coolant gauge needle would barely move even though I had been driving for 5-6 minutes. The engine would start to ping. Then the coolant gauge needle would go hot. Anyway, got my heat back after the repair. Replaced the water pump 3 months prior because of failed bearings. Several months later, on a 30°F morning, the random engine overheat came back. Had to pull over on the highway. Noticed that coolant was leaking down the front of the engine. Thinking either the rubber o-ring seal is busted, the new water pump is leaking thru weep holes, or that heater tubing got plugged up causing the coolant to back out from the water pump.
I’ve never seen one get plugged, and I don’t think it would cause an overheat it if ever did. It would be similar to having a heater control valve stuck (you just wouldn’t get any heat). Your issue sounds more like it’s losing coolant somewhere. I’d pressure test it and see if you can find a leak.
@ Will do. Thank you.
@@RedeemedMechanic used the break in freezing temps to check the water-pump. It was hemorrhaging from the weep hole. There was no signs of coolant leaking from the engine/water-pump mounting surface. Water-pump failed after 6 months (Bought it new). Replaced it with a Motorcraft part. Should last a bit longer than 6 months. Thanks for your thoughts on this.
This helped me a lot, thanks!!
Unfortunately this metod didn't work for me on R20 honda engine. It was constantly slipping on the top. Tried to it with my friend but only dead brain cells and lots of swearing. I don't know why brand new genuine honda belt is so tough. Old one goes back without any problem. Absolutely same length belt.
@@edgarokras5695 this method is for stretch fit belts, not serpentine belts. Normally, when a serpentine belt doesn’t fit easily it’s because the grooves in the belt are too shallow. Aftermarket (and some OEM) belts come with the grooves not fully cut. Makes it a real pain to get them on, but once they are, the pulleys will cut the grooves the rest of the way. Try getting the belt around all the grooves pulleys and then slipping it over the smooth one while someone else is holding the tensioner back for you.
Insane vid so damn helpful
Can you estimate the cost of having this done please? Where are you located? Thank you.
Best video available. Thank you so much for sharing.
GREAT video! You got: Less talk, More Action...More Brain! 🧠 ✅👍
Do you have a video for the exact thing on a 2012 ford escape? Evaporator core
Sorry, don’t have a 2012 in my repertoire. I’m thinking they were much easier, kinda like the Focus platform of that era, but it’s been a long time since I’ve done one.
You do not have to pull the cluster out to get to that top screw
@@thebulge1965 you’re right. But if you want to see it, it’s really helpful.
Good job Your video has been a good help to me ❤
Love you long time
Does no one no how to use a tensioner
The tensioner is in such a hard location and I don't have a tool to fit
My belts make a loud squeaky noise sometime when I start the car but it goes away after a few seconds. I had new drive belt installed so I’m not sure what it could be . Sounds like it comes from the bottom pulley area
Excellent trick worked like a charm for me today. After three days of messing around with the belt tensioner and breaking 2 of them in the process thanks. 👍
Is gearbox in neutral? Do we need to remove spark plugs ?
Only need gearbox in neutral if you have a manual transmission. No, you don’t need to remove spark plugs.
You sir are a Genius
Thanks for video, very helpful and well detailed, I do have a little doubt though on the expansion valve getting faulty, would it be possible that after few years of operation and a couple of refrigerant refill the system is overcharged and thus causing the high pressure, the fact that you empty it and refill to the OEM recommended qty might just be the cure alone. There are millions of expansion valves operating for 30 years plus in cars or other industries without trouble. Maybe f150 owners are very kin on having everything perfect and going too often to A/C guy or buying their own cans and not measuring the qty in the system. It appears I am one of the above. just thinking...
Thanks for this video! I followed the steps and managed to pull a dead mouse out of the blower motor. A little gross but it's better than taking it into a garage!
Oh wow this wasn't useful at all
This I call it a REAL MECHANIC ❤
That one damn wire can't believe it runs under the seat why didn't they pit a damn connection under the dash
I’m needing to change the defrost selector only. The cam arm broke off. Can I replace just that part of the box without messing with the ac?
I just recently changed the water pump radiator thermostat and reserve coolant tank and it started leaking from manifold area.. anyone knows what I might have done wrong
Cracked manifold? Mines is leaking from the hose in this video but yours might have a crack .
Good
Is that the older model ?
Happen to have a video about replacing the dryer? 2013 f150 5.0
Nice tip, thanks.
Thank you for making this video! I just found a broken intake valve spring on my 3.7 and needed to see the best way to get it out of the #5 position. I will be making the assist tool for sure!
Excellent video on how Ford shouldn't design a dash. Way too complex and expensive.
See I’d love to pull the seats and film my work but MY F$&@EN SHOP QUOTED 10 HOURS!!!!!!!!!
I had this issue, got the old out, put the new in, did the fuse (did both the one you did and the one that was showing climate control in the manual), but mine is still stuck to only blowing from the vents and won’t go to defrost or floor. Any ideas?
I replaced the other actuator that’s down there not the one I needed too 🤦♂️
Yep. My video was for the temperature blend actuator. Sounds like you had a bad mode actuator. Glad you figured it out.
Handy 'pocolyps info❤
Ótima dica meu amigo tá de parabéns Tmj
Looks like I'm never taking the e-fan out again to replace a serpentine belt.
you sure it wasn't just overcharged?
Yes
