I have put together some videos that I shot myself of interesting places in Newfoundland and some segments of and complete television programs that I have produced and directed over the years. I hope you enjoy the memories.
Wayne The Boss
Producer/Directors are always behind the cameras. This was not good enough for me, especially since I went to acting school. So whenever I saw the chance and an audience, I got to perform. Here I am doing a warmup of the audience for the program Switchback at the Holy Heart Théâtre.

Skipper and Company- Captain Turbo
Просмотров 112Год назад
We always had a lot of fun producing Skipper and Company. We used all kinds of special effects to make the program more interesting for the children. In this segment starring Mack Furlong as Rotten Randy Rooster and Mack Barfoot as Captain Turbo we pulled out all the stops.

WGB- Drama Festival
Просмотров 597Год назад
One of the zaniest episodes of Wonderful Grand Band series was this one where we spoof the Dominion Drama Festival. Tommy does an excellent Arts and Culture Director, John Perlin and band member, Glen Simmons takes on an acting role. Special guest is Kelly Russell. The band debuts their hit Suzy. Some will recognize local actress Maddie Williams as one of the dancers. The costumes are excellent...
WGB- Open Line Show

Here is another of the wonderful Wonderful Grand Band shows that I directed in the '80s. This episode makes fun of the two Open Line hosts of the time, Bas Jamison and Ron Pumphrey. Special guest on this show was Peter Francis Quinlan and this must be one of the only videos of him. I ask you to take special note of the final scene in which Greg Malone plays two characters. We had no computer ed...
SwitchBack Outs

Thought you might find it interesting to see some "Behind the Scenes" shots from SwitchBack with Stan the Man and Rufus the talking Dog. You will see the trick to make the dog talk using honey. Rufus was wonderful to work with and had plenty of patience.
Renee Marquis

Throughout the years, many have said that Renee Marquis' voice is an instrument. I found this audition she did for me in 1978. It clearly shows the instrument and the immense talent Renee has. Rick Hollett on piano.
Elaine Kilpatrick

Video footage of Elaine Kilpatrick is rare. I recently found an audition she performed for me. This was not for on-air but certainly shows her talent very well. Rick Hollett is on piano.
Sonya Ball Performance

I produced a network summer show live from Bowring Park in the early '80s. Shirley Newhook was the host and one of her guest performers was Sonya Ball with the Ralph Walker Quintet.
A Childrens Gift Christmas Special
Просмотров 424Год назад
December 15, 1976, I produced, directed and wrote a Christmas special that was seen across Canada. It starred all local children. The host was Ronalda Hutton (now well-known Ronalda Hutton McDonald), Jackie Tracey, David Peters, Valerie Hollett, The MacDonald Drive Uke Band, The Junior St. Pat's Dancers, Holloway School Choir, St. Patrick's Songsters, Sharon Walsh Dancers, and a very special li...

Still looking forward to more WGB uploads
One of the very best bands to ever come out of Newfoundland. ALL very talented musicians.
Jaskolski Union
Awesome!
Dibbert Forge

❤ WGB ❤ Fantastic 🎉
Brown Kenneth Jackson Ronald Johnson Barbara
The guy in the blue sweater is my dads brother, uncle Fossie Furlong ❤
Tommy was a natural, I don't think our island produced a comedic talent of his caliber in all these years since. Just my opinion of course.
He is simply the very top Newfoundland accordionist.
Can’t wait until more is uploaded, do you by chance have a WGB episode called “Battle Of The Bands”, I saw that episode being advertised in an old TV Guide listing on the western star, that episode isn’t on the dvds, curious if you have that one?, or better yet anymore that wasn’t released on dvd, this show is legendary.
17 Patrick St. He was born on Flower Hill.
dat you Baz?
Does anyone know why they are two versions of this skit? If you look up "Codco Beothuk" there it is again but a few minutes shorter, different costumes, different set, same cast, and no audience laughing.
One was produced for the WGB show, the other was produced for the CODCO show.
@@GuzzyNL that's interesting then. I don't think that's a regular thing that happens where the same skit appears on two different shows. I suppose in this case the cast was there on both shows and I don't know for sure, but maybe the same producers between both shows?
I remember mum watching this and Codco, Tommy Saxton and Babylon Mall. lol Classic TV.....
I loved this group!!!Thank you for sharing and bringing back some awesome memories for me. 😂
You are welcome. More to come.
So wholesome and such decent fun, those were the days! Today's far is mostly grotesque and vulgar rubbish.
Love irish music ❤
Carol still has a beautiful voice, so proud she was a school friend, she also sang at my wedding
Just lovely!
This has always been one of my favorite songs. Carol does such a wonderful rendition.♥
Brilliant, all mimed though!
I was 9 years old when the Cabot 500 celebrations was happening. I remember bits and pieces of it. A specific memory was when the Matthew sailed to St. John's Harbour and there was thousands of people down at the Harbour Front. This weekend I visited Bonavista for the first time with some friends. Beautiful community and we hoped the Matthew Legacy museum was open but it is closed for the season still. Would be great to see that Ship again and Learn more about that celebration and the history of John Cabot's discovery of Newfoundland. Can't believe its been 27 years since this. Thanks for uploading this! It was fun to watch.
Thanks for taking the time to comment. It was a fun project for me to produce and direct.
I remembering watching this with family when it first aired. I must have been about 5/6 years old. Great memories! Thanks for uploading!
Super titres le deuxième qu'elle est ce titres le dernier
Thanks for posting. What year was this Wayne? Just played my 1977 copy of T.N.T (RIP Denis), remarking how great Elaine was on that album and wondered what ever happened to her. I "met" her in the late 70s coming and going from her friends/boyfriends house in the west end.
I remembers something about watching this or something like that at my old school in paradise in the 2000s, she was a guidance councillor at my old school as well, so many memories of her in the mid 2000s to early 2010s
Oh the memories ❤
Actor John Moyes is my dear old dad. Thanks for posting this Mr Guzzwell!
The craziest thing about this old video is how skinny Randy Ferbey is in 1987, lol.
Perfect mix of comedy and stellar music. CBC made a huge mistake cutting funding to local arts programming!
Could not agree more!
Glenn Simmons is so good here, real Rock star stuff
Always enjoyed this Tv show and band-Those were the days my friend-we thought would never end.
RIP Doug Laite, 1939 - 2020
actually I think it was placed very very close to where it originally was. And based on how much Ryan missed the guard it was irrelevant.
This sketch is RARESEST!!!
I worked on this video. Looong shoot. Rick Mercer and Andy Jones are in it, among other well-known artists in St. John’s at the time.
He also wrote a book called . "An excellent booke of the arte of magicke" which resides in the British library as manuscript 36674. It's the account of him summoning ( in the most protestant way possible) a series of spirits and demons with the help of his skryer John Davis into a crystal. Funny they should include an appearance by his spirit in the film. For anyone interested in the book it's available on scarlet imprint as transcribed and edited by the wonderful Phil Legard. The edition even has manuscript scans so you can read in in his own hand. Cheers....history is even weirder than we care to admit lol.
7:30 long ways from Northwest River <3
Loooove all these episodes. Please keep posting thanks 💕💕💕🙌🙌🙌
Have anymore footage from the wonderful grand band, would absolutely LOVE to see more. Thank you very much.
Yes, more to come and you are very welcome.
@@GuzzyNL awesome, thank you so much, kinda hopeful that you have some episodes that weren’t on the dvd
That’s a great rhythm and lovely melody. The guitar harmony is perfect, in time and not trying to dominate the tune. Lovely listening, thank you gentlemen.
