Can you practice shaping shots on AboutGolf? If so how? Is there a practice mode?
@@michaelhowell8898 absolutely, you can practice on the several ranges and watch the line just like you see on TV! They also have a game called Bend It where you have to shape the shot around walls to hit a target green.

Shocked this is the first time I've heard this tip. Pros always talk about visualizing the shot. Best way to do that is to visualize and execute the shot on the range before teeing off.

Had that problem yesterday. It happens to me more often than I would like to admit. I just keep plugging, take my Rx and eventually…Will use this tip in the future. We were talking during the round and I do try to move the ball back in my stance, 1/2-1 golf ball. Like you said temporary fix but it’s mental for me.

Great tip. Another way I do this is to practice 3/4 knockdowns. A knockdown 6 can go farther than a stock 6.

So your second 7I ball went 154. That’s exactly what mine does. Can I assume I’m compressing?
All depends on your swing speed and loft of your 7 iron, but sounds like you’re striking it well!
To get real compression, you need hand relaxation....and some nice whip. Without that, you don't get much at all....because you're trying to do it with your arms only. The club has to do the work.....as I'm sure you know well. When people grip too hard, they're more likely to dig into the ground and fat the ball. Whip gives the speed to compress the ball at impact.

I think sequence at takeaway should be slow to make sure you’re on plane and your hands don’t get inside club. Then quick through impact zone and follow through to allow for extension.

Tom…..these are the shots that keep an old fart like me from scoring in the 70’s. Happy Masters Week at OVG !👍⛳️⛳️
I've always struggled with this method. I first saw this method in Jack Nicklaus's book: Golf My Way. For me, whenever I aimed the clubface at the target and then closed or opened my stance for a draw or fade, respectively, the ball always started directly AT my target and then curved away, depending on the draw or fade spin. I later found out that this is what is "supposed" to happen. I took lessons at GolfTec for a couple of summers and it was explained to me that about 90 of a ball's direction is determined be the clubface direction. So, if the clubface is pointing at the target, the ball will start at the target and then the sidespin will pull or push the ball away from the target. For me, if I'm playing a draw, I have to aim to the right of the target and let the ball work back to the left and for a fade I have to align myself left of the target and let the ball work back to the right. I've never been able to get your method (or Jack's, LOL) work for me.
