Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation: BBC Pop's Greatest Dance Crazes
Просмотров 15 тыс.13 лет назад
Janet Jackson's video "Rhythm Nation" is featured at a questionable #50 on BBC's "Pop's Greatest Dance Crazes. Features commentary from Laurieanna Gibson, Tina Landon, Mark Summers, and Katy Brand. That "Rhythm Nation 1814 Reign" refuses to let up. So where does this leave the "If" and "Pleasure Principle" routines? #TeamRN1814
You'll keep buying my music cause your mindless" 😂😂😂 the best bit of the lyrics
I'm a huge Janet and Whitney fan, but I do have to say...Janet sang better than Whitney could dance. Even Brandy said that singers will understand that Janet had some of the most beautiful background vocals and harmonies you'll ever hear. However, like so many others pointed out, Whitney didn't need to dance anyway, cuz her voice was/is other worldly ❣ In the end, they both had their own lanes and excelled in them which made them icons.
Janet is such a stunning beauty.
It is unfortunate that Whitney Houston took offense to this. She said she knew Keenan and she didn't see how he could do this. She thought it dissed her. It's satire, and that is how satire works.
Do you have a video link or something to share to support this information ?
Janet Jackson’s words about Whitney Houston’s untimely passing offer a poignant tribute to the enduring impact Whitney had on the music world. Janet’s heartfelt reflections highlight the immense talent and grace Whitney brought to her art, and the deep sense of loss felt by those who knew her. Through her comments, Janet not only honors Whitney’s extraordinary career but also acknowledges the personal connection and admiration she had for her. This tribute serves as a reminder of Whitney Houston’s incredible influence and the enduring legacy she leaves behind in the hearts of her peers and fans alike.
i workout to this song 🤩
This woman has been through so much it just warms my heart when I hear people sing her praises
Car driving….🤣
Janet's stunningly gorgeous!
🥺
Too bad they sacrificed Kim Coles for Kim Wayans, they were both talented
Ya'll can quit trying to clown Janet Jackson. She created her own lane and MAXIMIZED it. She's a legend herself. Stop saying people have to sound like other people to be "good". That is so STUPID. Janet and Whitney were both at the top of their games at the same time! They were never in competition so why put them in competition now??? Get a life and stop trying to create MESS all the damn time.
I love how it shows the stupidity of hip-hop dance.
Did they know it all along? "... makes me wanna high...?
At the time, Whitney was considered an overrated singer. But she has always been considered a terrible dance as per her own admission.
she was said to be a sell out not overrated singer
Whitney even admitted that she was a terrible dancer and wore tight dresses that restricted her leg movements as an excuse not to dance.
I don't know what Keenyan Wayans was thinking. Whitney Houston could sing. Go figure that out. I 'm a Whitney Houston fan for life. RIP Mrs. Whitney Houston.
That "ahh!" sound in the background. lmaooo
Whitney got upset at this skit.
Rhythm nation is hard choreography. You need precision
Why did they have to do Whitney like this though?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Mariah IS a Janet fan and viceversa. Don't start rumours and such, please! I reckon Janet and Whitney also loved and respected each other!
It's amusing when people claim that Whitney Houston didn't need to write, dance or make good videos because she had an amazing voice. However, they fail to consider the fact that her voice deteriorated in the mid-90s and she never fully recovered it. Therefore, what was left for her to rely on? How good her voice used to be? Being a great singer is wonderful, but if that's the only talent you possess, then you are limited. Whitney died nearly broke, while her songwriters were able to afford their own islands. If she had played a more active role in songwriting, she may have been able to recoup publishing royalties. Furthermore, if she had known how to dance, she could have continued to electrify the stage even after her voice started giving out. This would have made it easier for her to tour in her later years and still generate significant income. The bottom line is that while being a great singer is fantastic, it may not be enough to sustain a long-term career. Additionally, many exceptional vocalists tend to lose their voices as they age. Therefore, it's wise to have other talents or skills besides singing.
Whitney was an actress, singer, producer, philanthropist and occasional cowriter etc. and when were her videos terrible? you quite possibly cant name a more iconic 80s video than iwdws. On top yes she was a touring performer which is why she could tour. i dont see you doing any of this🤣 and even if her voice “deteriorated” she was still singing well in the 2000s. just like mj, whereas his later years were more about his dance moves hers was about her voice. people were not checking for his voice in the 2000s so keep it cute.
Kim Wayans is a natural treasure
She said, when she would open her mouth and this instrument would come out. Shitt, when Janet says that about you, you are definitely someone very very very special.
I loved this show growing up
🤣
I ❤️ the '90s and In Living Color! So what is that Whitney did that for Janet Jackson! 😂❤
Like dannii minogue steph mcintosh janet jackson
Holly valance good as well
😅😂❤
She more like Michael Jackson
LMAO @1:38!
I just watched im your baby tonight bc of a comment I saw, even though ive seen it many times. And i saw that Whitney showed her rhythm and dance moves. Its like she always had something to prove to the culture. And it was never enough...They didn't like how she was so proper and well spoken.. It be your OWN kind...
So true
I see why Whitney didn't like this sketch. It wasn't even funny.
Her name should've been Janet Houston or Whitney Jackson
Janet and Whitney were great friends! A lot of mutual RESPECT between those two ladies! They each loved one another’s work
Well she was with Bobby Brown who had a penchant for a JJ type rather than a WH type physically. But they were literally all in their heyday around the same time and they became friends
*" Crack is Whack "*
Poor Whitney was quite unhappy with this skit.
That show was/is hilarious. It was way, way before its time.
I always thought that they were only making fun of Janet Jackson in this skit.
Whitney didnt need to dance her voice made the money but i love this😂
@@lucastaylor2321 unnecessary comment
@@lucastaylor2321 as long as you had rhythm you can dance, she didnt need to do full on choreography for ballads
@@lucastaylor2321 where did i say it was just mocking Whitney? and clearly rhythm nation refers to whispernet and you keep trying to throw shade. like i said a balladeer isnt gonna do choreography. learn when and what to comment because anything you’re saying is highly unnecessary.
@@diorrboyyyy Calm down a bit and avoid the rest of the comments on here if mine excite you to the degree they clearly have. People such as yourself have lost the art of discussion and then become belligerent because they can't accept someone else may have a differing opinion.

Hilarious
I think it was back in 1989.
This is the reason In Living Color wasn’t better than SNL. Kenan Wayan’s made fun of talented people. Not just talented people but talented black people.
Two disses for the price of one
They must have been running low on "SKITS," because Whitney was one of the BEST SINGERS OF ALL TIME!!!!
I remember Whitney was 38 hot over this skit 😂😂😂
That was not funny. Kim is not funny! She silly.
Kim is ICONIC so just stop
She's funny and silly m
Buon ponte del 25 aprile Terry
Like janet jackson as well
She more Michael Jackson
