Its REALLY cool to know the rest of the world uses our standard for brake fluid. I feel honored
That was very interesting.
@stefantrnacek1394 Thank you so much for watching and we are glad you found it interesting!
Cool thanks buddy
Thanks for watching!
Brother need your help ! My mini truck is 3ltr engine oil but when I change Engine oil increased !now 7ltr
Thanks for watching! there is something bad happening there, we can only assume there is some major contamination of the engine oil causing the huge increase in volume. An oil sample would help you understand exactly what is contamination the oil and causing the volume increase. This would make diagnostics much easier.
What piston rings did you go with? Cheers
Thanks for watching, the guys seem to think you used Hastings in this build.
Great video, i have a seat leon cupra its got the 2.0l tsi engine, oil is usually around 110 when driving around time sometimes gets up to 115/120 and im thinking of getting an additional oil cooler because im afraid hot oil temp will ruin my engine. When i push the car the temp doesnt go above 120 Would you say i should get an additional oil cooler?
Thanks for watching and we hope this video answered all of your questions! That oil temperature is likely within the safe range for that engine and no additional cooling would be required.
fix audio
Thanks for taking the time to watch this video and leave a comment. We will work hard to make the audio as good as possible in the future, if anyone else has a problem with the audio can you please leave a comment!
Another great video. I can't afford a team to run my car so my workshop has a stripped engine on the bench and body panels all over the place. I've learnt so much from RUclips so thanks a bunch for taking the time to make these videos. All the best from a very chilly UK.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback, we are glad you have found these videos helpful. Good luck with your build and let us know how you go!
Thanks - great to see hands on assy work to this box. I have a JFR for a build I will be doing and am only just now realizing how many special tools I should probably have....
Thanks for watching! the right tool definitely make it easier but there is always a way around it, good luck with the build!
I absolutely never use petroleum Jelly/Vaseline on rubber it rots rubber!
Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip!
Heya, Just wondering what thickness/ where you were able to get the Nylon sheets from. Thanks
Thanks for watching! We used 6mm Nylon sheet on this project only because the plywood we removed was also 6mm.
What engine oil do you guys run in these? I have the same engine running 11.5/1 compression, forged pistons, stainless valves etc in a Lotus 7 replica I bought. Just wanting to be sure what oil to put in it. Cheers.
Thanks for watching, in this particular engine we are running the 20w50 RE11 KCK engine oil. We have also used the RE36 10w40 PAO racing oil with great success!
That shirt. Iron it.
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, we hope the shirt didn't detract from the content of the video too much.
Iron that shirt.
Thanks for watching and thank you so much for the feedback. If you would like to forward your address we would be happy to send this shirt to you for ironing. 😁
Have you given the car a test/ outing yet? Really enjoyed seeing the build, would be great to see it on track.
We had it at the track only a few days ago BUT the test day got rained out! Although we were all very excited to get it on the track we weren't as excited about getting it dirty, hopefully in the new year we will get another opportunity.
@ look forward to hearing all about it
To you and your whole team, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Thanks you very much, we all appreciate it and we look forward to 2025!
Wow! I would like to finish up my car one day and see how she goes on a track, yeah she’s only a V6 but I just want to get out there and see what it’s capable of. Great video mate 👍
Thanks for watching! Its an awesome car and so much fun to drive. highly recommended and we cant wait to see yours when its done.
Great video and even better smile.
Thank you for watching!
For torquing down the 6 bolts, is there a spec you're using? Also, are you measuring the outer race before install for preload? Thanks for any insight, I'm attempting to do my rear uprights first, and am trying to to mess anything up.
Great question! These bolts were torqued to the specification of the bolt only, it is only a retaining ring and cannot change the bearing pre-load. Its just to stop the bearing coming apart and the hub falling off. The bearing is a matched unit and the actual housing of bearing itself determines the pre-load on the inner balls.
Awesome & super helpful video!
Thank you so much for watching!
I switched off after I heard Fahrenheit.
Thanks for watching until you switched it off! there is a conversion table in the description if this helps with the confusion!
That's why I only use Redline oil! It's all PAO and Ester base oils, no hydrocracked petroleum base oils. A TRUE synthetic.
Thanks for watching!
I would like to ask when the max limit is 300F/150C then why all industry standard HTHS viscosity tests done on that temperature? And the test is 3-5 minutes. And also, most cars have an oil temp warning or power reduce mode at 300F/150C. But the oil sensor is not placed to the hotsport and not measure the temp next to the bearing. So why car manufacturers use the standard 300F/150C limit when at the bearing the temp is higher? Why don't they use 270F/130C ? I know the flashpoint is not the limit of the oil it's really just the flash point but that's around 430-460F/220-240C which is way higher then what is the reason to share that info and not the actualy temperature threshold where the oil is still stable? Thank you in advance!
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! A really short answer, they had to set a limit somewhere and 150C was it. You are correct that the oil itself is probably not the limiting factor, oils seals, O-rings and similar parts will not handle the heat so well and these parts are a common upgrade for aftermarket applications. The crankshaft bearings are not the hottest component within the engine, the pistons and/or turbocharger is much hotter and the oil is used to cool both of these parts which then elevates the engine oil temperature.
Love these videos and have learnt so much. Would love to know what a season of AFO would cost through Gilmour. Seems to be a lot of young up and coming guys racing. Are there any more senior drivers getting around?
Thanks for watching and age is no limit! We have had the pleasure of working with some senior drivers with great success! if you want to know what's involved including costs please send Donna an email at Donna@kcklubricants.com.
Enjoying the vids! Would you sell your used pads?
Thanks for watching! Yes, in the past we have sold our old brake pads to help out some of the privateer guys but we still seem to replace them quicker than they need them!
Love these! Learning so much.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the feedback!
what paint did you use on the inlet manifold?
Thanks for watchin, its 2k white. 2 reasons, it looked really crappy and the white will hopefully reflect some of the heat under the bonnet.
Great vid
Thanks heaps for watching!
Good video. Best of luck at the Island.
Thank you very much, its a mega event to finish off the year!
Good luck at Phillips Island.
Thank you very much! it should be a cracker weekend.
*Hygroscopic absorbs moisture. It IS hydroscopic, it repells moisture.
Thanks for watching and thanks for the input!
My van, Citroen dispatch 2021 plate, is going into limp mode every two months, currently driving 30,000 miles a year, I only replaced the engine oil and filter about a month and a half ago and today it’s gone into limp mode again and I’ve had to call the RAC out to resetall the forms that that has caused. The engineer advised to every once in awhile drive where the engine reps are constantly above 2000 RPM, will this solve my problem?
Thanks for watching! It is common for elevated RPM to induce a regen cycle, high exhaust temperatures will also help this. If you can keep the engine under load at higher RPM it will help!
Hello I have diesel in oil sump in my Fend 936 vario. Can it be caused by DPF? What should I do? I'm thinking of changing the oil and using my tractor while checking oil level along the way. Is that good idea, or should I contact service right away?
Thanks for watching! we would recommend contacting your service, the oil contamination may cause further damage.
Thanks for the Team update. Interesting to hear Your thoughts on the GITI rubber . WE have a slight dilemma here in UK an Nova keep advertising that They have most race requirements tied up now ,for instance ,the nova equivilent of ACB10 for ff1600 etc but to date nothing to replace the good old Avons for our Ex.F3 Dallaras ,Our own F397 has been using ex. Championship Pirelli rubber from the GB3 and 4 championships. Not ideal but there. For 2025 though the GB 3 series are going to different sizes so that avenue is out for Us . Interestingly ,a number of ex. Australian f3 cars are being advertised over here recently , theirs being later cars (307 on) that I understand are unable to retrofit the reported introduction of Halos for The more current cars in some countries?
The tyre issue seem to be an ongoing issue with limited supply, etc. The GiTi tyres have a slightly different personality to what we are used to and unfortunately we seem to have been told some stories regarding the necessary setup changes between the two tyres in the beginning. Yes there are a few Aussie cars for sale as they are reportedly looking to update and I believe you are correct that these tubs are unable to accept a Halo. F312 cars can be re-tubbed with a F317 that is wider and has the extra strength to accept the Halo.
Should I change to a thicker viscosity oil? I had oil analyzed at 4k and 8k miles and both showed the 0w-16 oil cST viscosity @ 100C had lowered out of range on a 2024 Toyota Rav4
Thanks for watching! A more in-depth oil analysis may show the cause of the oil breakdown, this could be over contamination, over temperature or over load for the type of oil that you are currently using. It may mean that the oil you are using simply isn't good enough to handle your application.
@KCKLubricants Thank You!
Engine oil black because of tourbo charger.
Thanks for watching!
Good video ,honest sounding driver too.
@mauricelevy9027 thanks for watching! Kyle is pretty awesome. It had been a very steep learning curve for Kyle this year and we have been pretty hard on him to get him upto speed. We are convinced he has what it takes to get the job done! Oh, don't tell anyone but this was filmed straight after a race. He didn't even get a chance to put pants on after getting out of his race suit. 😁
Is Mobil 1 synthetic oil better than Kirkland Costo synthetic oil?????
Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to ask such a great question. We do a lot of product testing, analysis and load testing of many of the oils on the market, however we have not allocated the resources to testing the Kirkland Cosco oil product you have mentioned in your question. Not having done any specific testing on the mentioned oil makes it impossible for us to compare the two synthetic oil products in your question but I'm sure you could sample both of the products and send them to a quality testing lab to get your own test results or use both the products in your vehicle to see if you notice any difference during the oils life span. This may not apply to the Kirkland Cosco synthetic oil but, what we have found consistent in our testing to date is that the price is a pretty good indicator of the value of the product.
@@KCKLubricants Great to know! I'll keep using Mobil 1!! :-)
Hey I've got a good one... What if I get 60% diesel in oil?? Well he had a runnaway... Due to turbo faillure.. Engine is dead now but I wonder how so much diesel got in oil...
Thanks for watching. That's a great question! There could be several causes of this and we are not even going to begin to guess what might have caused the fuel contamination.
@@KCKLubricants haha yeah it’s not an easy one to guess… Have you ever seen that much oil contamination??
Only in an engine failure situation, that's a lot of fuel!
I've just had this problem with my Mitsubishi. It's only done 1400 miles since the last oil change, following a warning on rhe dash, and now the oil level is rising again to the point where it will have to be changed or rusk damage. I've had the dpf cleaned and hopefully this will reduce the number of attempted regens. The problem is that the car has only done 43k in six years and doesn't get the chance to complete the regen cycle. I will now have to ensure it gets a good workout every few weeks to keep my dpf healthy. If only the bloody car would tell me when it starts a regen so i could act appropriately. I know it's possible because my JCB telehandler does this without issue. Better still if I could initiate regeneration at a time to suit me.
Thanks for watching! Yes, we hear this a lot unfortunately. Hopefully you don't have any further issues.
Always find it pretty easy to just put an old set of spark plugs halfway in paint it and then take them out threads are all clean
@@jamesdungan6198 Thanks for watching and that's a great tip!
Do pao oils shrink seals?
Great question! Ok, here is the short answer. NO. The oil itself doesn't cause the seal to shrink as such. Heat and age will cause the seal to shrink BUT we use an additive in all of our oil products to prevent the seal from becoming damaged by constant heat, etc. Some of the cheaper oils on the market do not contain this additive, causing seals to leak shortly after switching oil brands.
I built a couple of F/Ford 1600 engines in the early 1980's, even though my favourite engine was the 2.0 Pinto. Both were reasonably competitive in the hands of fairly average drivers. Gratifying all these years later, to watch this video, and see that I did those engines fairly competently.😊
Thanks for watching. That's great to hear and I'm sure you were much more than competent! The early ford engines are a very cool thing, we still talk to guys frequently who are building Pinto's and crossflow's.
Some engine don't blacken lubricant for example india new holland tractor "New Holland 5630" , used oil looks like Petrol car oil. Same color as you put new.
Thanks for watching and that is a great point! Generally speaking there is still oil contaminants BUT they will not discolor the oil. This is also common is LPG fueled forklifts, etc.
Question: Many sellers of oil coolers recommend using a 185 F degree oil thermostat. It seems to me that a 200-220 would be more appropriate in terms of the oil being nearer to it's optimum operating temperature. Can you comment?
Great question, Its a complex problem but we believe that a hot oil makes more power, disperses contaminants, etc. However if you have a poor quality oil that breaks down when its hot you must run it as cool as possible. In some of the motorsport applications we will run the oil as hot as 300F+ to assist with air flow over the car and to increase power.
Very nice video.
Thanks for watching!
i've just seen an item calling for halos on Australian open s/seaters on the web, does this include the f302 onwards please? I don't see how these can be retro fitted personally and I fear that if this goes ahead ,it will son spread to us in Monos in the UK . Thanks in advanced if You can advise me .
We have asked this question multiple times and I'm told that it is NOT possible to fit a halo to any car other than those it is designed for. there is not enough strength in the mounting areas. The halo tube is also much larger and heavier, much larger around the driver opening, etc. These cars will continue to run without a halo as this is how they were approved by the FIA.
He sounds like he is saying "dot four".
@@mwendia thanks for the feedback, we have tried to clear up the audio since these videos.
Motor sounds strong, need more of them
@tonyscott7184 thanks for watching. We totally agree, these things are awesome!
Such a pity that a meeting that means so much to Your Team should have gone so badly. Unfortunately in racing WE all have these down experiences occasionally but We all put them behind us don't We . better joy in the future and thanks for posting. There is so little interest in "our" cars now unfortunately with the world and HIs dog clamouring for GT races , but I know that In OZ just as here in the Uk our old Dallaras still get a regular airing although over here We are forced to run with 40mm minimum rideheight !
Thanks for watching, it was only a few years ago we had every step on the podium with our cars! Just like you said its all ups and downs and this is how we learn and grow. Geez, 40mm is a bit rough!
