Learning Together Session - 43: Curiosity by Shri Rakesh Vajpai
Forty third session of Learning Together group was held on 10 August24. Shri Rakesh Vajpai, one of the most active members of the group gave a presentation titled "Curiosity". Rakeshji's curiosity was focussed on "Collatz Conjecture", one of the Unsolved problems in mathematics.
The problem goes like this :-
Take a positive integer.
For even numbers, divide by 2;
For odd numbers, multiply by 3 and add 1.
With enough repetitions, you will find positive integers converge to 1.
The conjecture has been shown to hold for all positive integers up to 2.95× 10^20, but no general proof has been found.
