Hi, I'm Katie🫶🏻 Welcome to my channel💕
I am a 24-year-old who recently moved to Seattle from Okinawa, Japan. I was born and raised in a military family that granted me a life of growing up in Japan. But, the time has finally come for me to settle back in the States with my husband & 2 cats. Now, I am working a 9-5, starting grad school full-time in the fall, and taking each day as it comes. I hope you subscribe & stay tuned for my newest life adventures🫶🏻

Hi! Awesome video! Question tho. Is it really worth it going to nokonoshima in august? It doesnt look as pretty as it is in autumn or spring. Plus I saw other areas in japan has amaazing flower fields. Thank you for posting this video!
Hang in there sweet Katie. Transition is ALWAYS difficult until you find your new routine and friend base. I love to see you out in nature because that is so healing for the mind and body. We should plan a visit soon ❤Damaris
Thank you🥹🫶🏻
Hi, Katie! I currently live in the Seattle area and will be headed overseas to Okinawa at the end of the year. Seattle is very overwhelming. I would recommend living outside of the city if you can. If you ever need anything let me know! I have lived in Washington my entire life. I'm happy to help :)
Omg I am sooooo jealous of you😆 It definitely can be overwhelming😅 I have gotten pretty comfortable in West Seattle but I definitely agree that outside of the city is better. Luckily Aiden’s family is from Bainbridge so we escape to that side almost every weekend and I am really excited to make those trips when the fall comes☺️ Let me know if you have any ideas of places to go in Washington!!🫶🏻
@@KatieLambie Yay!!! I’m so glad you’ve been able to adjust. I live in Puyallup and I have a hard time visiting Seattle. I’ll go maybe twice a year. The city isn’t my favorite 😂 Fall time in Washington is the best! September is arguably the best month out of the year. It’s still warm but just cool enough to wear a hoodie. There’s so many places to see! The most obvious place would be Mount Rainier. It has the most beautiful hikes. Many people go there to star gaze as well. Friday harbor is a great place as well. Take the ferry over there for a weekend and go whale watching 😊🐋 I’ve also heard Leavenworth is beautiful. I have yet to visit but I’m hoping to go in December before I head to Okinawa. 😊
Hi, Katie! What apartments did you two live in? My husband and I are looking to live off base in Okinawa :)
Oh definitely live off base if you can! My apartment was unique because it was attached to a house so I am not sure if it would be available but I would look into specific areas and narrow down what you like from there. If I could go back I would look into either living in Yomitan, near Araha Beach, or on the Seawall because that’s where we spend most of our time. We toured houses with multiple housing agencies and probably looked at over 10 apartments before deciding on our place. We used Ace Family Housing and got our deposit back 100%. I hope you can get some good ideas of places to go from my videos☺️ Drink a latte from my favorite cafes for me🥹🫶🏻
@@KatieLambie Thank you for the advice!! I will most definitely drink plenty of lattes. 😆 I’m excited to visit all of the cafes over there 😊
Since Okinawa is close to Kyusyu and shares the same distribution channel with Kyusyu where the finest porcelain manufacturers gather since 15th century, even supermarket like San-A sells high quality Chawan and dishes at affordable price. (around JPY500 to 800) This is a similar story that most taxis in Germany are Mercedes. (German thinks this is just a taxi, while others say "Wow!".)
Oh wow, thank you so much for sharing☺️ I collected a ton of San A bowls and utensils before I left Japan and I love having them in my home now❤️
Lovely vlog! 11:10 The reason why music is broadcast on certain time of a day (most are at the noon and 5pm) in rural area is to tell farmers it's time for lunch and time to go home. Also this helps authorities to check the system works properly for emergency occasion like typhoon or earthquake. Sometimes it says "Mr. xxx (<- an aged wanderer) of 3-choume is missing, and his family is searching him. If you see him, please call police." This is how small community in Japan is maintained.
Aweee wow this is so insightful! Thank you for sharing☺️🫶🏻
I moved to the Washington Coast from Hawaii with my fiancé and senior dog last summer and it was a huge adjustment! Even though Hawaii is arguably still a part of the U.S. the transition wasn’t an easy one and like you, many things seemed to be “going wrong” in the beginning. Looking back at, everything was so necessary to experience! No matter how painful and new, I realized that it literally altered my brain chemistry because of how quickly we needed to adapt to life in the continental U.S. 🥹 you’re doing great and congrats to you, my fellow grad school student 🤘🏼
Omg it really does alter your brain chemistry😆 For me it was learning how to drive here, getting comfortable being in public spaces, trying to feel safe, getting use to the noise, and everything else! Soooo many things changed and I can totally see how that would be similar after moving from Hawaii! I really appreciate your sweet comment and I hope you are loving your time in Washington❤️ The longer I am here, the more I appreciate this amazing state☺️
Hi! Fellow military significant other here!! I have found your videos and absolutely loved your documentation of Japan as my military member and myself hope to one day be out there. With that, we just moved to Oklahoma and I went through many anxiety attacks and depressive episodes with this most recent move (which is weird since we had moved 5 times in the past 3 years). But, anyways, you are NOT alone! I am inspired by your resiliency. Thank you for sharing your journey!
It’s nice to know I am not the only one😅 Moving is difficult no matter where it is! I hope your time in Oklahoma gets better over time❤️
I loved this!! I love how vulnerable and calming this video was! I’m so sorry for that negative little season you went through, but I can genuinely see a glow on your face now!
Aweeee Maddy this means so much to me❤️ I hope you and Gabe are doing well🫶🏻
I cant wait to see fall content!!🍁🍂 Take me pumpkin picking!! 🎃
Wish it was with you😭❤️
We visited Japan this summer and it would be a huge adjustment to move from there to the US. You’re doing great!
I hope your trip went amazing! Thank you so much❤️
I can’t get over how beautiful all the views are!
Omg I know!! Soaking it up before it’s starts raining for the rest of the year haha
What is his afsc I’m going in as client systems but I’m trying to do research for my wife to see how best to take care of her when we get there. Was is tdy as well…

It's pretty hard to find hikes in and around Taipei that are not 80% stairs. It's very hard on the knees. For a boy to whom "hiking" means the Derbyshire dales or Yorkshire moors, it's quite disappointing.
You still need a health cert if you’re flying AMC! Just need the quarantine tag before commercial flight (took us 10 mins or less to do). I know you’ve don e this now, but just for new people watching!
Sorry, I think I meant to say that you need specific paper work to fly commercial🥲 I was so discombobulated in this video😆
Seattle is way too rainy and gloomy.
It’s way too humid here.
One thing I’ve noticed in my searches of Japan is there always seems to be NO CHICKEN BREAST available??? Lack of chicken seems common. I think I’d struggle the most with “how” to use the bathroom, as well as no chicken there while visiting. I don’t like seafood and I cannot tolerate much beef due to digestive issues. However I REALLY wanna visit there! 😅
Katie, I LOVE every video you put out but I'm sooo grateful for how raw you kept your pcs videos - especially the moments where you speak about how challenging/emotional/stressful transitioning out of the military, and leaving the place you've called home, can be! I never see those conversations being had!! We aren't quite nearing that season yet, but my husband and I talk often about the anxiety that transition will bring.
Oh my goodness this comment means so much to me. It wasn’t easy to be this vulnerable but you are so right. It is so difficult and I am even still struggling months later if I’m being honest. But I am glad I could share some insight and thank you again for the sweet comment🥹❤️
Hi is parking generally free in okinawa, eg at american village, beaches etc? TQ
There is usually free parking depending on where you are going but in Naha we usually do pay for parking. It’s not much but I always bring cash for that reason🙂
TQ
Today is May 6, 2024. I just returned from a vacation to Taiwan and by far, the people of Taiwan are the nicest people I have ever met. I'm tentatively planning on returning in a few years.
Thanks for this! Will do this trip next month!
Aweeee enjoy it for me!! I miss it so much🥺❤️
amazing vlog!! new subbie and id love to stay connected x
Thank you so much🥹❤️ & for sure!!
Taiwan is known for its hospitality and desserts are definitely less sweet there :) glad u noticed. hopefully you can visit Kaohsiung and Tainan. love the taiwan vlogs
Loved your Seattle vlog! ✨️💖
This means so much! Thank you so much🥹❤️
Don’t stress too much about Seattle traffic because it stresses us all. They drive too fast on I-5.
I had a rough first few days commuting but I was an I5 pro by the end of the week🤣
We left 2022 and I’ve been sad since 😢
I just moved a month and a half ago go and I already miss it so much😭 I feel you!!
It’s okay to know about your pet’s life we been to that same situation where we need end the suffering
We have a PCS coming up soon and watching blogs like this make me so excited for the process to really start!
That’s so exciting! Good luck on your move❤️
We love your videos!!!!! What apps do you use to edit them?
Thank you so much! I use Adobe premiere pro to edit & epidemic sound for music☺️
@@KatieLambie Thank you so much. Keep up the good work!!! 🐧
Hey! I enjoyed the video...! You two are great!... Do you know your backpack model? It seems it´s the perfect size and fit!!!
I’m sorry for the late response! It’s a north face back pack that we got from a Japanese sports store☺️ Thank you for the sweet comment🫶🏻
I hope to study in Taiwan! Thank you for the wonderful vlog.
I hope you can☺️ I wish I could go back🥲!

hi katie! do you guys live on base housing? or outside the base housing?
Sorry for the late response! We lived off-base🙂
Awesome video!! Thanks for sharing your itinerary, just curious does Okinawa uses a lot of cash payments or card payment? Am going in April so just wanna estimate how much cash to bring over. Thank you in advance!!
Sorry for the late response! Both are widely accepted but I would always have cash on hand because there are places (like the soba place in the video) where it is cash only. I would recommend having a handy 10,000¥ just in case!
@@KatieLambie Thank you!!! Appreciate it!
I love all your travelling videos & just subscribed to your channel. Very appreciate for your effort to put all the details of how much you spent, this such a great information ❤
This means so much! Thank you for the support❤️
Quite the mentally taxing journey to Washington. Teamwork and organization is the key and you two executed the mission well. Congrats.
Thank you Russ🫶🏻 We can’t wait to see you when you get back!
Love the luggage! Where did you get it from?
Thank you! It is London Fog and I got them as a gift but I think they got it from the BX😅
Sending all the good vibes during this transition!! So happy to have crossed paths with you for a little bit(: Wishing you guys the best and the way I felt that nespresso comment in my soul UGH. I have such a deep love for that coffee machine haha
Thank you Maddy🥹❤️ I am still struggling without my Nespresso because getting coffee out in this economy💰💀😆 I am so glad we crossed paths too! I am excited to continue watching your Oki & travel videos☺️
Hi! I’m PCSing there in June for the next 3 years and your videos have help ease some nerves. Please make a video on the weather there and what to wear. And any tips you think would help!!
I’m so happy you are enjoying the videos🥹❤️ I don’t have any specific videos on the weather but I will say in the summer it gets hot and we have a pretty gnarly rainy season so I tend to cycle the same shorts and neutral body suits because I would just sweat through my clothes LOL. I love a little sun dress in the summer time too because it is breathable! It really doesn’t cool off until the end of October and it can get kind of cold December-February. But it’s an island so the weather is inconsistent. Layers with be your best friend in the colder months and breathable clothes will be your best friend in the heat! But you will find what’s comfortable for you when you get here🙂 It can be difficult to find clothes here because of Japanese sizing so I recommend shopping before you get here but most stores ship within 2 weeks to island so you can always order when you get to Oki. I hope this helps!
