So expensive there!!!!

I am moving there in February. My excitement has not been this high in a long time.

Can't believe I'm seeing the infamous Heritage Trail intersection in a RUclips video @37:22. That place is a massive POS. Every single person in the community complains about that exact area so much and it is incredibly frustrating. They put up yellow flashing lights if people are there so you have some caution going through. Well some people think you must stop for people and let them cross no matter what speed you were going and walkers/bikers think people need to stop no matter what speed you were going. Traffic gets backed up out onto 22 because people stop so much there. Complete cluster fuck.

The thing about Murrysville and the surrounding areas away from Monroeville are filled with old people and expensive houses now. The school system is great but student count has been declining and school taxes are going up with their new elementry school. What parents are buying these 500k+ homes and these new construction houses are starting at way more than that. The areas average age seems easily in the 70s though, very quiet, but these old people are constantly running into buildings with their cars and just in a fog everywhere you go.

What are your thoughts on Bethel Park? I'll be semi-retired soon. Currently living in Philly and hate it. Since I have no car I like a town where I can walk to a lot of stores and supermarkets and a gym. In looking at the maps it looks like Bethel Park is this type area. Lots of walkable shopping. Do you know if there are apartment buildings there with apartments to rent? And what are prices for homes if I wanna buy? Also if i chose to live in the heard of Pittsburgh do you know which main steeets have the big supermarkets?

I wouldn't recommend moving to Pittsburgh. Lived there for 2 years; I speak from experience. It's got one of the highest rates of seasonal depression in the nation (I experienced it firsthand; multiple friends seem to have gotten it as well). The city turns from gorgeous to depressing as summer turns to winter - think gray skies, barren hills that look like giant brown hairballs, ugly run-down buildings in former steel towns, and an insular and aggressive local culture. I never lived in the North or South Hills but I keep hearing it's hard to make friends there as an adult b/c most folks there are locals and just stick with the friends they made in high school. There's a reason Pittsburgh is so cheap...

Bonus Pittsburgh fact: Some of us lifelong Pittsburghers' vocabularies have evolved beyond "yinzing" and goin' dahntahn an'at.

Let’s not forget that Yinzburgh employers treat the proximity of the Stillers as part of your pay package. Work for an employer NOT headquartered in Yinzburgh.

How can they build and sell all those Million dollar condos in the Strip District when its has the highest crime rate in the burgh. Yeah i want to get whacked or shanked as i walk home or leave my apt. NO THANKS.🙀

Honestly this builder looks like a Ryan home builder with similar floor plans. The only thing I saw that surprised me was a sprinkler system that was installed on the the duplex’s. I grew up in New Brighton and my parents still live there. Only takes 20-25 min to get to downtown Pgh going up Ohio River Blvd and that area has very affordable housing

When i moved from pittsburgh to wash dc in 1989, people in the dmv area can be a little indifferent towards you if you are from pittsburgh. When i told this guy i was from pitt. He said what hillbilly farm did you escape from, then i thought about my family he clarified why i did actually run from my bat shit crazy family.🤪

I grew up in New Brighton in Beaver County. If someone wants a bigger place for less money, Beaver or Butler county is the place to go. I have lived in Orlando FL for last 28 years. Could never live in Pittsburgh ever again, as I have sorta become accustomed to warmth and sun. The dreary weather there is intolerable to me BUT no real natural disasters there and that is a plus 🙂
