Duotone Mini Booms for Duotone Slick

What’s the difference between the Duotone Mini booms? Most people only have one boom for all their different boomed Duotone wings. So it’s worth considering which one to buy and investing in a lightweight and stiffer boom. The Duotone Platinum SLS is Sam’s favourite as it’s the stiffest but mainly because it’s the most comfortable to use with and without gloves due to the skinny thinner diamete...
Duotone Windsurfing Worthing West Sussex Grip 4 D/LAB 2024

Some raw windsurfing footage of Worthing Watersports shop owner Sam Latham at Sea Lane Cafe, West Sussex. Rare high tide conditions produced some good sized waves, but unfortunately they were not shaping with much power due to a dropping tide. Annoyingly the angle does not do the size of the waves or jumps justice. Sam's stalled forward loop was 17.7ft heigh. Sam wanted to borrow Nik Bakers Gri...

Love the comradery 🎉🎉🎉
This is great!! Conditions look really nice, and the beach start start line so much fun!
Thanks a lot from Cologne/Germany for this very valuable & helpful overview into the amazing Duotone foil range. Very well done, 🙏 Ralf
I juste weighted 82cm QM DT Aluminium mast and it's 2377grams!!!
Very little info about the Orca anywhere, could you do a review on just the Orca ? even the manual is confusing.
heya, the orca is soon to be discontinued as the Shark 2s and Cachalot are now available. i am sorry
Thanks, which one is good for kite foil beginner?? Wind strenth is nomally 9 to 13 knot , 70 kg..
heya, the carve 2.0 is the best morden duotone foil for all alspects of kitesurfing... however there still some of the previous generation that are being sold very cheap. worthingwatersports.com/collections/foilboards
Not sure if it's a good idea to leave the screws always tighen in the rails with the risque of being unable to unscrew them anymore after a while...
I must have more idea than I thought since I felt cutouts would be an improvement for the 115 - the tail is tough to sink to pump, Shame to lose the box though, I need that, I also prefer the longer mast track.for versatility.
Agree to disagree. I have the FANATIC stingray 115 and the tracks were too far forward. Now they are in the right place for a wind foil board. The hybrid ability is lost though.
i can see instantly the mast track is way too far back!!!
I am on Sardegna and I try to learn Wing-Foiling and it's so difficult to Pump and get on my Foil in windy conditions. Yesterday I tried a E-Foil lesson with teacher without wind and it was so funny. I need to vuy my own, thanks for the video 🎉
Wouldn’t foiling in these conditions would be better as a full Electric Foil vs the Foildrive? Cheaper options with Electric boards these days as well.
Heya, most good and comparable E-Foil boards are £10,000-£15,000 The beauty of this system is can be used on your existing equipment. It is a good way for beginners to learn the foil and then continue to use the same equipment. Foil Drive is 4kg. Foildrive boards are 10-20kg, so the sensation is very different.
@@worthingwatersports maybe research into brands like SiFly and Waydoo for comparable boards which are half the price you claim. Agree with you on the weight difference but in flat or choppy water where you wont really be pumping anything longer than a minute, weight isn’t really a factor. There is a big difference between the two systems but they are used for different sports essentially. Each to their own but if you are looking at a FoilDrive and you are EFoiling more than 50% of the time then get an EFoil
Thanks a lot for this great video. I've got a question . I'd like to buy a glide for light wind. I ride in lacs essentially. I got a sky free 5.3, wing 6m maxi. I'm 70kg. Age 58 and freerider with a beginner/intermediate level (not passing yet the jibes) . What size would you recommend? Thanks
Heya, I would go for the 1305 for light wind and 1050 for higher winds :) I'm a very similar weight.
I found out 1305 really low wind, but kind of boring. Rather takin our dlab carve and bigger wing unless There is NO wind. Whizz 1000 might be the best, best of 2 world, check it out..80kg here..
Very helpful info - Am currently 5 months into my foiling, Currently using the entry level 2000 all rounder but am progressing well , Starting to have increased success rate on the genes so sizing up my next foil - am around 85 kg and hoping to move in more open sea foiling going forward - what would you recommend ?
@@user-cj9nw1ps6w heya thank you 🤩 I don’t think you can go wrong with the aero free. Maybe 1500 or 1750. I think when you’re ready to progress the 1500 will be best for long term. You probably won’t need another foil as they are very efficient
Nice video, loving the 850 Carve 2.0 for kite foiling - perfect balance between speed and manoeuvrability. That "adverse camber" you are referring to is Dihedral - the angle up from the horizontal, Anhedral is where it angles down.
So we can't put an adapter on our carbon sls mats like for the aluminium one?
Heya unfortunately not, the head is glued onto the mast for strength and weight reduction
well.. 300 bucks for 2 pieces of plastic and a bit of neopren seems like a scam. Not convince at all with this plastic shit. If I fall down full speed from the height of my foil, that won't protect me from the impact !
It looked really good, it was fantastic morning (sorry, I managed to make an appearance in the video walking up the beach in the background after coming in from a paddle board session 😂)
Awesome video! Good turns! I was wondering what camera are you using and with what mount! It’s really a great recording!
Insta 360 with fly mount worthingwatersports.com/products/flymount-aero-40-ultralight-action-camera-mount?_pos=1&_psq=Flymount&_ss=e&_v=1.0
Thank you for your kind words
I get the idea of lighter rigs, but brands making boards lighter seems freaking nuts, use the lighter materials to make them stronger and last longer. Eat fewer sausages folks, that will get you planing quicker 🤣
Heya, interesting thoughts. The new boards are not only lighter, but they are stronger and will last longer. Due to using higher quality materials and high standard manufacturing processes... It is not just to get the boards planning quicker. The 'dink' and dent ability of the new DLABs is much higher than anything before from fanatic/duotone. They are noticeable stiffer even just to touch
@@worthingwatersports changing from cobra to kinetic is certainly a good move, yet, the lighter boards may be stronger than previous ones but why not increase even more durability when you have the weight advantage? (Note: my Witchcraft driven mindset on this is influencing my viewpoint heavily, I know.)
@@windsurf888@windsurf888 is always a compromise, I guess. They seem to have a really good balance now. I do not want the performance to change by getting heavier These boards are exceptional on the water, and their performance is second to none. I have heard witchcraft are very well-built!
@@worthingwatersports it is certainly interesting and next time I have the change to try one I will - just to get an idea what a light board feels like.
So is it worth it?
no sound?
Good effort guys, I need to join you next time!
Worth playing with shims on your wing and stabiliser when you have the motor in efoil position to reduce the nose lift… personally just about to order a foil drive after spending a few weeks on a Fliteboard ultra (24kg including battery) thanks for the review 👍
sounds good! will do :)
I watched other videos on this, and it appears that maybe you could benefit from moving the mast forward if there's space. Which theoretically should make it less of a bronco on starts.
I have one, pretty sure it’s the opposite but maybe it’s my mistake
My experience FWIW: It's a no brainer to pay the extra for the carbon if you can afford it. The difference in weight over the aluminium even when rigged on a wing is very noticeable. The Platinum SLS feels great in the shop and on that basis, I purchased one. However, after trying it out on the water, and much to my surprise, I discovered that I preferred my old standard Platinum. I found the grip on the SLS too small. It felt like, in an exaggerated example, trying to hold onto a pencil. And that's from someone who immediately jumped onto the Windsurfing Hawaii reduced diameter 'Power Taper' booms back in the days of windsurfing. Maybe it is different for those people who use an overhand grip for their front hand? Or maybe I am just the rare exception.
Thanks for the video. What is the biggest sail you use with the 76 grip4 Dlab? Thank you
Heya. For me so far 4.0 But I think it would happily take 4.2. Maybe 4.5
dehumidifier is a great option 😊

Does the max come with a 3 blade prop?
Heya. It doesn’t. It’s an upgrade. Give us an email and we can send a quote if you like?
That's a 2023 Evo D/Lab. I don't think they will release a new one for 2024.
Yes you are right. The 2023 evo d/lab has been rolled over into 2024. Just like the 2022 evo was called the 2023 evo :)
thanks for sharing the on the water experience! The tech talk was a bit confusing... the designer said in a podcast that the mockup-pictures on the website are not accurate 😅
Told you the yellow was the one!

Good info. Good getting started video

heya, im not sure what this means?

Hi there! Supper fun video! I was just asking myself what camera are you using to record? Is it a GoPro?😊
Insta 360
how do you you get the hook out of the way when paddling? Do you have to remove the belt?
To be honest when the hook is high I don’t notice it. I haven’t ever needed to remove the belt.
Is it possible that the light and your camera´s frequency are pretty similar? Might be my monitor but it seems like I can see a lot of flimmering :) Great review of the boards! Got the Falcon 99 of the D/LABS, looking forward to using it!
Who’s riding this??
Dave AKA Dangerious Dave - local on goring green!
Looking forward to the next video! You’re a natural on camera!🙌🏻🪁🪁🤩 can you do one on beginner set ups with kite foiling..
I can try! Although I have very little experience
I have someone I could get in the video to help.
Yes ion open palm gloves are great for winter sailing especially together with a mega slim boom or super slim :-)
Yes they are!
But if your sail has got a parallel tackle block it doesn’t work properly and rigs horribly
Please have a look at the instructions. You can re-wire the extension to suit both block types
Looks good , might get one is the 6/5 select worth the extra over the amp. Keep looking at one . I have a 4/3 core and amp 5/4 for winter , but like the idea of the 6mm and hood.
They make my winters so comfortable now
I got given one of these and initially thought it was a bit of a gimick, so it sat in it's box for six months until the winter when I eventually decided to give it a go. WOW.... why did I think it was a gimick... it's great and the days of pulling on cold damp wetsuits are over! I should have brought one ages ago!
Will it turn off once the wetsuit is dry?
@@agl5245 Yes, it has a built in timer and switches off automatically, I think after about 30 or 40 minutes, I find this enough to dry off the inside of my wetsuit.
Does the Arc harness absorb water and get heavy?
heya, it does a absorb a small amount of water. no more than a normal neoprene waist leash belt. it does not get heavy. its perfect for people wanting the lowest restriction but still has comfort. a standard waist belt with a hook digs in.
Nice footage!😊💥💥
Thanks ✌
watching the coparsion back to back the mamba pleases my eyes more, the rounded tail looks like work less resisting while turning.. but im sure, both are great boards and i would love to get my feet on them
we still have both in store if you want to try them
The mamba is a great board. However having tried both. The speed and release from the grip 3 is really helpful. It doesn’t seem to have lost anything. Just gained some speed. Being lighter also makes it more efficient and exciting to ride
How much do you weigh to make a 65L work in ~10 knots??
heya 74kg. the board was a bit small, but the ventis DLAB 7m made it possible
Today was a fun day, the new Duotone gear looks sick 🤙🏻
