TAIPAN LIGHT Disassembly. Breakdown of SCSA Taipan. Pull Apart a Southern Cross Small Arms 223 556
Просмотров 2,3 тыс.Год назад
How to disassemble the TAIPAN LIGHT from Southern Cross Small Arms. Hello I am Benny. I bought myself this SCSA Taipan for Christmas 2022. it came from the factory with a broken cam pin, this issue was resolved quickly with the distributer OSA and Southern Cross Small Arms. My brief Review: What i like. *Weight *Handling *Machining *Stainless Lothar Walther Barrel with a 1 in 8 twist What i Dis...
It’s amazing how many cartridges failed after launch because of poor marketing or incompatible rifle options. The 284 Winchester shared a similar fate. I’m convinced if Winchester has a successful launch it’s an accident.
Thanks for your comment Chad. Absolutely agree. 👍
Very well produced video. So, I have been using the 260 since the beginning. Using the Sweed before that. I have shot more big game with it than one can fathom. Most of my game is whitetail deer but as an Alaskan Big Game Guide, I carry a Tikka CTR in a 260. The 10 round mag is very important. I usually have to shoot at game wounded and running. This is primarily for dall sheep and caribou but I have backed up my hunters on 5 or 6 grizzly bears and some moose with it. Not many people have hit grizzlies with a 6.5 . The truth is that the game can't tell the difference. I've floored them with it as would any hit from a high powered rifle. I started out using Bergers switched to eld-x then to barnes and now to the 142 nosler ab -lr. The eld-x frag apart as the bergers. The barnes doesn't have a big frontal dia and not destructive enough. The nosler is just right. Good luck with your channel.
Thanks Starkey. It’s great to hear from someone who has been using the .260 for so long. That sounds like an incredible job to have. I am glad you are having good luck with Nosler, I use Nosler projectiles as well and quite like them. 👍
Well explained and an easy listen, look forward to more
Thank you. The 9.3x62 will be going up next Wednesday night.
@@benandbenny p.s.. I carry a sauer 100 in a 9.3 on the Alaskan Pen and Kodiak for the big brown bear. Holds 6 rounds. Barns x. Before that I carried a 35 whelen. Poor man's 375 h&h.
I believe the 9.3x62 is a truly underrated cartridge. Haha, poor mans 375 H&H. That’s exactly what I say in the video 😂 Those are some massive fish you have on your channel 👍
Anyone else here Australian?
👍
The only part to break in mine, the bolt lock and you didn’t show how to remove lol
Sorry I was a bit worried about taking that piece apart 😀. When SCSA sent me my 3rd replacement cam pin they sent me an improved bolt release, so I ended up replacing it anyway.
Yeah. Went into the LGS today. Bloke brought his in because it was binding on the feeding stroke. It was a Taipan X.
Hopefully they can refine their design somewhat😀
Hey man is it possible to take the pump action off and just have it as a straght pull?
Not on the Taipan light. But maybe the newer X has that capability.
Gday mate thanks for the review over the weekend I purchased a Taipan X from Cleaver Firearms I am confident about the rifle but a wee bit worried about the barrel causing bad cycling through heat as I bought the rifle for a rapid fire pig gun on the farm have you had any issues with cycling? Cheers mate.
When the barrel gets hot on mine there is no effect on cycling.
Hey mate, are you still using that taipan let me know your thoughts on your long-term review. If you can put one up that would be great. Cheers mate
So far I’ve gone through two cam pins and I haven’t shot it that much. Luckily SCSA were quick to send me another replacement.
How is it holding up? Ive seen very mixed things about this gun. May i ask roughly what serial number yours is ? I see the 400-600 range seem to be the worst
It’s holding up fine. Replaced the cam pin twice. Mine is in the sub 200 serial number.
hey mate great video! was wondering if ya have figured out what ammo the barrel likes and what's the most accurate?
unfortunately i have not had the time to test it, but when I do I will post the results.
I've had the taipan for 2 months love's shooting Winchester 55 grain super x boat tail hollowpoints. Hitting targets at 300m+ with a holosun 503g
That’s cool. I cannot get less than 2 Moa with most 55 grain soft nose.
@@benandbenny i have been using fiocchi epn 55gr and have been getting sub moa with it
Interesting, i might have to try some of that. Thanks.
Perfect 👍
thanks
Great review mate, The more Aussie gun channels the better My cam pin hasn't snapped yet, only done 50 rounds though. Subscriber number 7
Thanks. I appreciate it. hope your cam pin will last, I think it was just the early production ones.
