    absolutely amazing swim pond, you should consider making a longer more in depth detailed video of how you designed the filtration system because wow did you do a FANTASTIC JOB! ive watched dozens of swim pond builds and how clear your water is during the initial filling tells me its one of the best ive ever seen, most take a few days after its filled to clear up, yours is literally clearing up while its being filled, fantastic work and thank you for sharing.

      Prices are going to vary wildly… I got mine direct from a quarry and hired a dump truck driver to deliver 18 tons at a time when I needed it. Total of about 250 tons of stone. The larger stone was $1300 per 18 tons. Probably 180-200 tons of just the “boulders”

    What I wanna know is how many people laughed and said it couldn’t be done? lol. All my craziest projects or ideas had some NAYYYYSAYERS. lemme tell ya! And either I did them, or someone else eventually did them and it was funny to see those people eat them words! I have a natural indent in the ground on my place. About 10 feet deep on the one end, and graded just like someone would do digging a concrete pool. Has a few saplings in the bottom, and A BUNCH of leaves and pine needles in the bottom needs cleaned out. I’m trying to talk the husband into drilling a well and lettin her rip! He even suggested clearing a nice little path straight to it….with lights! lol. Great job! I can’t imagine the back and muscle aches you got to get this monster done!!!

    Love what you have done, great job. Only concern is what happens if the liner ever splits or punctures, kids will be kids. I think I would have gone with clay instead, to make it more serviceable.

    • @mikeofalltradez
      @mikeofalltradez Месяц назад

      Certainly a risk! However, its 60 mil epdm… very tough to puncture, plus a thick geotextile underlayment on both sides of the liner. Then to even get to the liner you have to go through the rock. Clay would never look as clear as this pond looks now and it will inky get clearer in another year. We have an 8 acre clay lake in our back yard, looks good but not even close to this!

    All in all, I think you have done an incredible job! I'm saying this after 40 years of experience in traditional and natural architecture, including natural pools, ponds and riparian design scapes. I could do without all the unessary plastics and liners, which will degrade quicker than most people think breaking down into more micor plastics in our ecology, but with your clay soils, the natural "gleying" that will take place should leave you with no issues at all. For a first project, I can't believe what you have pulled off. I hope you consider doing this as a side profession, as your style and skill warrant professional recognition. WELL DONE!

    • @JayCWhiteCloud
      @JayCWhiteCloud Месяц назад

      As a positive note, I would suggest looking into it. This qualifies as a "natural pool," and the restrictions on those are being changed all the time, even in the U.K., where wildlife habitat creation and protection is huge. There are a few companies there now specializing in it, and getting the documents through planning councils is getting less cumbersome for this style of natural and sustainable landscaping...
