    Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of eternal life to all who trust Him alone for salvation: this means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ "alone" for salvation.

    Sinning doesn't make us sinners. We sin because we are sinners. God loves you as you are, not as you should be, because you'll never be as you should be. This guy was a prophet, flawed humanity and all.

    My words aren not important enough for people to see/read, however I need to express my continued sadness at OUR loss of this modern-day disciple of Christ. My faith is feckless, shallow, pretentious (add adjective here) but listening to a fellow Ragamuffin I am reminded that God loves ME and will fight for me day after day so that I may know his love for me. God bless you Brennan, it seems like yesterday I was handed a used copy of that seminal work, Ragamuffin Gospel, that has changed my life!

    Did you believe I loved you, _________? Jesus will ask this one question. This is the truth and sound doctrine of what we will encounter before the glory of God as believers. No other theology needed.

    "Did you believe that I loved you?" I like most of the video. However, Jesus is not going to ask the believer any questions on judgement day. The believer's "judgement" is that of the Bema Seat judgment - a judgement for reward. Paul uses Olympic analogies for a reason. The Olympian isn't asked a rhetorical question when he's given a medal. Neither will a believer be asked if he believed that Jesus loved him. Lawbound Christians give us moral hoops to jump through in order to be saved. I'm NOT saying Brennan was such a Christian. He clearly states the opposite. However, judging by some of the replies to this video, the question he puts into Christ's mouth is used by some as yet another hoop to jump through. It seems that not only do I need to believe the gospel, but I need to understand how much He loves me or I might not actually be a believer. I believe the gospel. That's all Christ through Paul the apostle ever asked me to do to be saved.

      Johnathan, I believe you're thinking into it way too much. A loving father will love you no matter what. He may get angry with you, let down by you, ashamed by you... but always love you. For someone who unconditionally loves you, to ask you a question "Did you know that I loved you?" would be more or less HIM, jumping through a hoop, just so you can WALK into his life. Think about it, brother. God Bless.

    I have flirted with, danced with and courted this concept inconsistently in the 40 years I've been a Christian. But it's only been the last year that it became less of a concept and more of a reality. It's not easy. It takes work, but to believe anything less is to doubt God, to cast dispersion on His claims, and thus in effect to claim a God other than the God of the Bible. God help me. I want to know more of this great love, not theoretically, but realistically. Not concept, but reality.

    Jesus often spoke in parables and action. His parables often pointed to God loving us, and here Brennan is pointing out many of us forget, in our walk, to be holy and in our journey to be set apart for God's glory that he loves us.

    Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners... He loves those that trust Him...not those that hate Him...Psalm 5:5 - Thousands of people were converted in the Book of Acts and yet there was not ONE mention of the word LOVE in that entire book. Check it out. -sinpaid.com

    Mopseth, What you are saying isn't contrary to what Brenning is saying. However, the basis for our being called to be holy and set apart is our awareness that God loves us just as we are.

  • @itreeye
    @itreeye 12 лет назад

    You wrote: "...how about daring them to believe that we are to be holy, set apart for God's glory." I see it more that in grace is the power and motivation to wanting to be, and towards being holy, etc. So do we emphasize His grace (...we are fully accepted, even justified in His site, now.) via Jesus first, or the being perfect first? I guess Paul did both...I'm not sure.

    @gertrudebyrd21 Yes I have, I actually read a lot of their writings in my philosophy class in college, and neither were truly born again Christians because their writings showed they clearly didnt know scripture, and when you're born again, you have discernment to know which denomination, if any, you will choose. With that discernment that comes from God you will certainly not choose all of them. Read your scripture, not your history books. Jesus is the one who brings true wisdom and knowledge.

    @automattek91 Ignorance is bliss, isn`t it. My view of salvation came from scripture, some of which i just showed you, not from a multiple-denominational speaker.

  • @automattek91
    @automattek91 13 лет назад

    @theresaelsmore Well, my point is that Brennan Manning preaches that by believing in Jesus Christ as your Savior, and trusting that he desires you. you will inherit eternal life. If you think that is garbage, my friend, then I pray that one day you will come to a knowledge of the truth. :) I leave this argument saddened by another Christian's attempt to water down the Church of God by attaining to a legalistic, non-fundamental, means of salvation. God be with you Brennan Manning!

  • @theresaelsmore
    @theresaelsmore 13 лет назад

    @automattek91 Well, your point is garbage, since you couldn't find any scriptures I asked for. Surprise, surprise. Good luck searching for it.

  • @automattek91
    @automattek91 13 лет назад

    As to any more argument, it is useless to argue means of faith. Jesus says "even if you have faith the size of a Mustard Seed, you will be saved" - Matthew 17:20. His own understanding and intuition is Scripture-based. Also, being baptized is being born again by Christ. To me, your understanding of "how to find and preach about Christ" is quite shallow. It sounds to me that you do more condemning than praising -- 1 Thessalonians 5:11. I find it meaningless to argue with Mennonite-boggots. Peace

  • @automattek91
    @automattek91 13 лет назад

    @theresaelsmore I don't think you understand the role of a priest. He is the Catholic form of a pastor and minister. They all have the same initial meaning. This man has been saved by Christ through means of baptism. And yes you can be a philosopher and theologian at the same time. There IS such a thing as graduating with a degree in "Philosophy" and "Theology". That doesn't mean he's going to hell. He is telling people that they are saved through Grace alone -- Ephesians 2:8

    @automattek91 1 John 4:1; 2 Timothy 4:3-4; Daniel 2:27-28 You have to look at both sides to discern...

  • @theresaelsmore
    @theresaelsmore 13 лет назад

    @automattek91 So he is none of those things. He is using his own intuition and understanding. Show me some bible scriptures where Jesus teaches teachings or quotes from a mystic, philosopher, or blasphemer , and I'll be more than open to listen to this man's teachings. But as far as I've read, we should stay far away from teachings like that. This guy quoted mystics philosophers and blasphemers in his books. Meanwhile, here's some of the scriptures I found: John 3:3; 2 Timothy 3; Isaiah 55:8-9;

  • @theresaelsmore
    @theresaelsmore 13 лет назад

    @automattek91 I'm not celebrating a man who isn't saved and isn't teaching how to be saved. He never mentioned once in his biography on his official website that he was saved or born again by Christ. And you can't be a Minister, Pastor, Priest, Philosopher, and Theologan all that the same time. Protestantism and Catholicism are very different. He would be arguing against himself with doctrine in his own sermons if he even took a theological stance and didn't go by his own understanding.

  • @automattek91
    @automattek91 13 лет назад

    @theresaelsmore Also, yes he is a minister/pastor/priest. He graduated from St. Frances University in Loretto, Pennsylvania. He has a theology and philosophy degree and a minor in Latin. Research it, idiot. This man has reached millions of people with God's love, you should be celebrating that. Also, your comment is extremely falsifiable. I would suggest writing your arguments in a more logical coherent manner that pinpoints the premise you are trying to establish. :)

  • @automattek91
    @automattek91 13 лет назад

    @theresaelsmore So we're not suppose to get emotional about the truth? Those aren't emotions I'm feeling, it's the Holy Spirit working faith in me.

  • @theresaelsmore
    @theresaelsmore 13 лет назад

    He is a false teacher. His title isn't even Pastor or Minister. There are some truths in there but much of it is unbiblical. Like how he thinks Jesus will ask only that one question. And just because you get emotional from this doesn't mean it's the truth. Only some is. Research it.

      Theresa Elsmore Actually Jesus backs up Brennan - When asked what is the core commandment Jesus replies with a single answer of love in two directions- to God with all that we have and are and our neighour like ourselves. Seems pretty legit that that Paul gets its it - we love home because he first loved us - only those who truly know his love will love him in return! Trust in his love finds us living like it.

    @diewahrheitistnochda what he said is based on Ephesians 3. If you say that this is a lie then you are trying to say that G-D is a liar and I am sure you wouldn't want to do that now would you.

  • @summersunt
    @summersunt 13 лет назад

    @diewahrheitistnochda why is it that christians always have to shout about wolves. What he has said right now does not differ from the word at all. If you really believe in the greatness of God then pray for him and watch God's glory manifest in his life. I am so over christians who continuously lob bombs into other camps - no wonder non-christians want no part, all they can see if this in-fighting.
