Original Song “The Long Way Down”
Просмотров 623 месяца назад
Please don’t ever think I’m ignorant enough to believe for a minute that I can play good, sing good, or even write good. I can’t do any of this good, in fact I can’t sit down and write a song just because I want to. When it comes, I write it down, then butcher it like this when I feel the unction to embarrass myself in front of a crowd. I do this for one reason; I love relaying the words He giv...

Original Song "Take It To The Cross"

Just a song I wrote recently. I'm not a singer or guitarist (only picked up the guitar about 3 weeks ago) but find it hard to turn poetry into songs as a drummer! :-D Song "Take It To The Cross" is sole property of Ray Elkins
Three original songs-I Found Grace, Why Me?, and Alibi
Просмотров 82Год назад
"I Found Grace" and "Why Me?", original songs by Ray Elkins. First time on stage for me in 30 years, we barely even had a chance to practice the first two songs and the three of us had not been in a room together until this evening. Andy had never heard "Alibi" and had only heard bad recordings (worse than this one) of the first two songs. Third song, "Alibi", written and performed by Owen Malo...
Slick Little Tabletop Elderberry Cleaner
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.4 года назад
Made from cherry wood and powered by a sewing machine motor. Uses a ShopVac to draw off all the small stem pieces and bugs from the frozen berries as they pass under the vacuum port. Using the same principle as a seed cleaner, air flow removes everything that is lighter than the frozen berries. In a later version, I may also attach the sifter in the hopper to the shaker. Right now, the hardware...
Polishing the handwheel on an antique sewing machine
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.6 лет назад
In our Sew Purty Workshops ( sewpurtyworkshops.com/ ) workshop held in Reedley, CA, I wanted to get the wheel polished on this Frister & Rossman hand-crank machine. I can usually remove these fairly easy with a puller and polish them on my machine with the cone-arbor, but there is always the risk of breaking them when it is necessary to use the puller. I decided to use the motor on my Taig Micr...
Solving Issues With Sewing Machine Picking up Lower Thread
Просмотров 120 тыс.6 лет назад
When an issue arises concerning picking up the lower thread, the problem is never the lower thread, but rather an issue with the upper thread not being caught by the hook or shuttle. I hope this video will serve as some help in seeing what needs to happen before you can pull the lower thread up.
Wheeler & Wilson Model D12 Free-Motion Embroidery Machine

Wheeler & Wilson was, at one time, the largest sewing machine manufacturer in the world. Being the developer and holder of some of the most significant patents dealing with sewing machines, they were a force to be reckoned with. Such innovations as the 4-motion feed and the rotating hook (both technology used in nearly all sewing machines even today) they were a vital spoke in the wheel for the...

Singer 201, 15, 1200 Potted Motor Removal

Everybody thinks these are so hard to remove and, judging from some of the pictures I've seen of butchered screw heads, I guess they are without the right tools, techniques, and a few little tidbits of knowledge thrown in the mix. There is an easy way to do anything on a sewing machine and it always pays to ask before destroying something. :-)

Singer 66/99 bobbin winder jigsaw puzzle
Very instructive, thank you, Ray! Brass hammer - Jewelry supplies. Some screws are not rusty but gummed up from old hardened machine oil and disuse. What works on these is Carburetor cleaner, degreaser, penetrating oil which unsticks the old oil. It is more resistant to your methods as gummy oil is flexible and holds on tight. Heat gun also helps. The best penetrating oil as tested by Project Farm on Utube is Acetone 50:50 Auto Transmission Fluid oil. Mix in jar. Heat up metal screws (no plastic) and apply onto screw. Let soak in day after day till screw is loose. Work to remove old gummed up oil. Carb cleaner also works.
Obrigada, vídeo muito bom.
Excellent tutorial. Thank you
Wow! I have never seen this before!!
Thank you sir!❤
Thanks! Worked in 2 minutes
Hi Ray thanks for the video. I have a silver plated W & W and it is serial number 555048 with the same decals as your #1 is it a possibility that mine is a number #1 and not a #3. Also does the needle curve go to the left?? I have mine all cleaned up just trying to get her to sew now. Thanks.
If yours has the silver plating, it is a #1. That is what distinguishes (and is the only difference) the #1 from the others. If it had painted arms, it would be a #3. The decals are irrelevant as they changed over time. I don’t understand your question about the curve. It curves neither right nor left, the curve should match the arc of the needle bar.
@@rayelkins7872 Yes I figure out the curve and thanks it is a #1 still having trouble getting her to stitch longer than 1.5 inches thanks.
Nicely done! It brought tears to my eyes too.
This also helped me set up my tensioner on my 99 thanks heaps 😊
Hey ray I’m trying to loosen the needle screw it moves a lil nothing. Can’t get the thing off to change my needle

good job!
This thing is amazing and I need 1 for sure
Thanks
I noticed on the spring before the last one that you did not move it into that open gap. I’m working on a Singer 99 crinkle finish and the assembly is a little bit different but it does have the part I’m asking about. I struggled for two hours trying to get that spring into that gap and maybe it doesn’t even need to go in there because I see you left it out, I sure hope that’s the case. I’m gonna get back on the bobbin winder assembly here in a bit and see if I can get it right. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I AGONIZED for 3 days on my Singer 201-2! REPEATEDLY adjusting the needle bar height and timing, I had inserted the needle incorrectly! 🤯. Once correctly inserted, the smooth sailing began. ❤
Thank you good sir! I have a pfaff 50 with a tension problem, your video was of the utmost help. For anyone with a pfaff 50 the round pointed washer points toward the machine.
Amen! And I love the folk feel!🙏🏾 keep doing your thing and loving the art u create no matter what. I create myself so it’s a joy to see great stuff like this and support it💪🏽u got a like and subscribe from me! wishing I a great end to this year 🙏🏾
O thanks sooo much,,, because of this video i helped my mum to fix the issue of her singer.. without video it was mission impossible... so sweet of you from Lebanon!
Thank you so much! Just used this technique, after having all kinds of tools out. This worked like a charm.
I've got one of these.
This method is so dang effective! I tried with just a hollow ground tips on my Singer 15-91 motor mounts, and with how much I was pulling on the machine towards me and twisting, you would have laughed, or wanted to yell to stop haha. I got the right tools, and doing exactly what you did in the video the screws came loose so easy! Absolutely astounding! Thank you.
Did you ever build your next version of the destemmer?
No, this one has done very well so haven’t really needed to make improvements 😉
Thanks
The number 1 thing these old machine have going for them is they are made of quality metal not recycled steel , oil and patients is all you need to bring them back ...
Beautiful machine .
Ray , are you still doing workshops? Thank you
Ray I love your videos and particularly your style of teaching. It’s very helpful in educated me as to how these machines work. Love the visuals aids .
Thank you, so glad I found your channel.
this is very well explained. One question that I'd really like to see explored is how the bobbin assembly is supported in such a way that the loop can go around it.
This is fantastic! Please do share schematics!!
Nice machine i have one like it
I hate my sSinger 201. There's really nothing mechanically wrong with it but whenever I go to use it, it acts up or behaves finiky. Overrated machine. "Rolls Royce of sewing machines" - m'eh.
Probably just needs to be set up, get some assistance in that and you might love it 👍
What if the gap isn’t deep enough and you’re starting to strip it and it’s an an angle, not down like this one🤦♀️
Love my machine...never use it because it needs a service...but I won't be parting with it ever
Very helpful, thank you!
Ceramic auto wax for a finish.
Thank you. You are the best!
thank you
Now is there any way you can adjust the tension on the metal part that says no oil wiggling it back and forth or is this the only way you can adjust the attention please and thank you for your time
Best Video and explanation. Thanks
Thank you 😍
Hi, I just watched your video. Very interesting. Are you saying this machine will never run again? I’m very curious. I think the red eye is absolutely beautiful!! I’d absolutely take it off your hands if I lived closer!!
Oh no, I've not seen very many machines that would never run again. This machine actually ended up restored and is in someone's collection now.😊
I love the needle and other materials you used to show us big items that are in the sewing machines. Did you make them?
Yes, made them for the classroom to make explaining easier
I want one like this, where can I find it?
This video was very helpful, thank you. I've been given my Grandma's 1940 Singer sewing machine. It kept unthreading. I dismantled the tension dials following one of your other videos with no success. After watching this video I went back to look at the little instruction book to check which way to thread the needle. I'd been threading it right to left but it should have been left to right. It works perfectly now. I would never of thought to check that without you. So thank you. X
Dude, was rackin my head against the wall, got a kenmore 148 and never thought the feed on the needle was problem til I said what the hey and got yer show first, awesome connetics, lol, thanks, nother we'll used but as of now still stitching machine kickin
Did you create the drawings and are they available? Thank you
