Original Song “The Long Way Down”
Просмотров 635 месяцев назад
Please don’t ever think I’m ignorant enough to believe for a minute that I can play good, sing good, or even write good. I can’t do any of this good, in fact I can’t sit down and write a song just because I want to. When it comes, I write it down, then butcher it like this when I feel the unction to embarrass myself in front of a crowd. I do this for one reason; I love relaying the words He giv...

Three original songs-I Found Grace, Why Me?, and Alibi
Просмотров 83Год назад
"I Found Grace" and "Why Me?", original songs by Ray Elkins. First time on stage for me in 30 years, we barely even had a chance to practice the first two songs and the three of us had not been in a room together until this evening. Andy had never heard "Alibi" and had only heard bad recordings (worse than this one) of the first two songs. Third song, "Alibi", written and performed by Owen Malo...
Slick Little Tabletop Elderberry Cleaner
Просмотров 2,5 тыс.4 года назад
Made from cherry wood and powered by a sewing machine motor. Uses a ShopVac to draw off all the small stem pieces and bugs from the frozen berries as they pass under the vacuum port. Using the same principle as a seed cleaner, air flow removes everything that is lighter than the frozen berries. In a later version, I may also attach the sifter in the hopper to the shaker. Right now, the hardware...
Polishing the handwheel on an antique sewing machine
Просмотров 3,8 тыс.6 лет назад
In our Sew Purty Workshops ( sewpurtyworkshops.com/ ) workshop held in Reedley, CA, I wanted to get the wheel polished on this Frister & Rossman hand-crank machine. I can usually remove these fairly easy with a puller and polish them on my machine with the cone-arbor, but there is always the risk of breaking them when it is necessary to use the puller. I decided to use the motor on my Taig Micr...
Solving Issues With Sewing Machine Picking up Lower Thread
Просмотров 120 тыс.7 лет назад
When an issue arises concerning picking up the lower thread, the problem is never the lower thread, but rather an issue with the upper thread not being caught by the hook or shuttle. I hope this video will serve as some help in seeing what needs to happen before you can pull the lower thread up.
Wheeler & Wilson Model D12 Free-Motion Embroidery Machine

Wheeler & Wilson was, at one time, the largest sewing machine manufacturer in the world. Being the developer and holder of some of the most significant patents dealing with sewing machines, they were a force to be reckoned with. Such innovations as the 4-motion feed and the rotating hook (both technology used in nearly all sewing machines even today) they were a vital spoke in the wheel for the...

Просмотров 30 тыс.7 лет назад
Everybody thinks these are so hard to remove and, judging from some of the pictures I've seen of butchered screw heads, I guess they are without the right tools, techniques, and a few little tidbits of knowledge thrown in the mix. There is an easy way to do anything on a sewing machine and it always pays to ask before destroying something. :-)

    This video is great. I'm a new farmer and I was chosen by Kentucky State University to grow a test plot of 300 Elderberry plants. I have 150- 2 year and 150-1 year old plants. We cannot afford the $12,000. shaker tables that we were advised to purchase. I'm not as handy as you are but I think I can copy your design if you don't mind. I use the freezer method to separate the berries from the stems and I thought I was pretty slick for thinking of that but you are on another level. Thank you for the video. My wife and I will be eternally grateful for all the time you will save us. Brian

    I cannot help loving that you made more work for yourself by tightening it. Thats exactly what i would do too! I do everything twice once wrong and then back and then right. Its a dance some of us just end up alqays doing. Even when i make a garment there will always be one seam ive done wrong ways upside down or back to front. Thank god for the chain stitch machine which makes my life of ripping seams so much easier. Does anyone know how the automatic stop seam works... i know you go three stiches over the end but then i dont know what im meant to do. So far ive been tunring the machine sideways and unhooking the thread from the hook and then pulling it out but there must be a simple way. It always catches under even when i raise the needle or move it sround the last stich stays on the underneath hook. Hope that makes sense.

    Very instructive, thank you, Ray! Brass hammer - Jewelry supplies. Some screws are not rusty but gummed up from old hardened machine oil and disuse. What works on these is Carburetor cleaner, degreaser, penetrating oil which unsticks the old oil. It is more resistant to your methods as gummy oil is flexible and holds on tight. Heat gun also helps. The best penetrating oil as tested by Project Farm on Utube is Acetone 50:50 Auto Transmission Fluid oil. Mix in jar. Heat up metal screws (no plastic) and apply onto screw. Let soak in day after day till screw is loose. Work to remove old gummed up oil. Carb cleaner also works.

    Hi Ray thanks for the video. I have a silver plated W & W and it is serial number 555048 with the same decals as your #1 is it a possibility that mine is a number #1 and not a #3. Also does the needle curve go to the left?? I have mine all cleaned up just trying to get her to sew now. Thanks.

    • @rayelkins7872
      @rayelkins7872 7 месяцев назад

      If yours has the silver plating, it is a #1. That is what distinguishes (and is the only difference) the #1 from the others. If it had painted arms, it would be a #3. The decals are irrelevant as they changed over time. I don’t understand your question about the curve. It curves neither right nor left, the curve should match the arc of the needle bar.

    • @RhondaBraun-s6d
      @RhondaBraun-s6d 7 месяцев назад

      @@rayelkins7872 Yes I figure out the curve and thanks it is a #1 still having trouble getting her to stitch longer than 1.5 inches thanks.

    I noticed on the spring before the last one that you did not move it into that open gap. I’m working on a Singer 99 crinkle finish and the assembly is a little bit different but it does have the part I’m asking about. I struggled for two hours trying to get that spring into that gap and maybe it doesn’t even need to go in there because I see you left it out, I sure hope that’s the case. I’m gonna get back on the bobbin winder assembly here in a bit and see if I can get it right. Thanks for sharing.

I tried with just a hollow ground tips on my Singer 15-91 motor mounts, and with how much I was pulling on the machine towards me and twisting, you would have laughed, or wanted to yell to stop haha. I got the right tools, and doing exactly what you did in the video the screws came loose so easy! Absolutely astounding! Thank you.
