Biden Inauguration day no-fly zone explained. Security over Washington DC airspace over capitol
During Biden's inauguration there are extra security measures put in place over the capitol airspace, both restricted airspace and a formal no-fly zone for the actual day over Washington DC and the White House. I will explain how prohibited airspace works and how the no-fly zone may be managed, how threats would be detected and how intruding aircraft and drones would be intercepted.

Ghost Plane from WWII, a PBY-5A Canso discovered in the rainforest! | AVchat w/ Scratch
Просмотров 7334 года назад
During a surfing trip to Tofino, Canada, I went on a spontaneous ghost plane hunt, where I discovered a mythical crashed Canso amphibious bomber from World War II. With a small handheld camera, after crawling through creepy buildings and knee-deep swamps, I found this WWII original PBY-5A Canso amazingly intact. It's been sitting here silently for decades and waiting to tell you its story. In t...

TOP GUN challenge: "Because I was Inverted" Is a canopy to canopy shot possible? | AVchat w/ Scratch
Просмотров 6 тыс.4 года назад
When I met photographer Blair Bunting, we immediately agreed one of the best moments in Top Gun was the inverted canopy to canopy shot. We debated whether the shot where Goose and Maverick fly inverted on the Russian Mig was possible? Challenge accepted! We planned for two months and assembled the best team. Scott "Banker" Ind flies Blair in the inverted photo airplane, while I get to be the ba...
Advanced Air Show Maneuver: Clover Loop Roll performed by "Scratch" Mitchell and "Banker" Ind
Просмотров 3374 года назад
Trust at mere feet and 400 MPH. Scott "Banker" Ind flew his 6 Jet underneath my 5 Jet completely by visual reference. This manoeuvre is called the "Clover Loop and Roll", flown at SBD Fest in San Bernardino, California. The two jets were so close to each other that I could feel his bow wave of air pushing my jet around. You can even see my Jet's reflection on Banker's canopy when he looks up. I...

Patriots flying at the 2014 Reno Air Races
You flew the best looking jet fighter of all time. You are a lucky man Sir.
Excellent review thank you so much
Awesome video! Thank you so much for a bit of insight into the F-86! Take care!
My father flew this he has 1686 hours on the E and F.
Great video! What a dream bird to fly.
A family friend of 70 years ago, Col.Alden P. McBarron, flew one of these while leading a mission group against Chinese mortar positions at an enemy road block at the Chosen Reservoir. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for his actions. He was from Portland Oregon Originally, and worked with my father before WW2. Thanks for the video.
fricken incredible! what a beauty
I think Eric “Winkle” Brown thought the E model F86 to be the most control balanced airplane he ever flew.
Everything is perfect except the music.
Just saw the Snowbirds at EAA this year! This plane used to be owned by EAA as it was one of two Sabres (along with a group of vintage jets) donated by Combat Jets Flying Museum of Houston, Texas. I'm glad it's back in the air but I am saddened that this was the one that got painted in Golden Hawks colors as it had a great polish on it and fantastic nose art painted as Jim Thompson's "The Huff" with a giant dragon on the side. The other F-86 was bare aluminum with only an "N" number on it which was begging for a paint job which would've been perfect for Golden Hawks colors.
RCAF Yes!!
Proud golden hawks hockey alumni. I loved wearing crest.
That’s Mount Baker in the Background, based in Abbotsford, B.C.🇨🇦✨?
Folks, this guy has no knowledge of the flight characteristics of the F86 SABRE or Canadair Sabre Mk6. This post will probably be edited and removed.
I'm re-posting my edited post referring to Sabre spin characteristics ... Stalling and spinning are very rare events: after pulling it as much as possible, the plane will not start spinning immediately: it will reach the maximum angle of attack and still keep the same direction and that can be used to pull high angle attacks. It takes up to a few seconds of pulling it to make the plane start rolling to one side and then spinning and can be easily countered by just letting the controls unsolicited for a moment.
And now, still cut posts ?? You're a fake
Please retract your inaccurate statements of the Sabre's stalling ... I will repost my previous post --- Stalling and spinning are very rare events: after pulling it as much as possible, the plane will not start spinning immediately: it will reach the maximum angle of attack and still keep the same direction and that can be used to pull high angle attacks. Cutting two serious posts confirms your bullshi**ng statements. I will not go away !!
Why you editing my comments ??
For us REAL Airforce guys, acting has no place. you're just another RUclipsr making extra money. Please do not offend real pilots !!
It now gets worse. Whilst I recognize your roles with the RCAF Snowbirds, it still does not give you the right to Bullshit the world by saying you flew for the Golden Hawks (closed down in 1996) and lead the Snowbirds in 2006.. at 60 yrs ??.

To add to my statement, WE flew the Canadair Sabre 6 For almost 25 years
Not sure what your report was about the stall in a Sabre (F86), But, I flew that great fighter in 1964 in 1 Squadron SAAF, also as a 4 ship display pilot, .... but NEVER, EVER had a stall problem, Fact is, it just did not want to spin, even even if you tried !!!! You obviously never did a SCISSOR maneuver, where the pilot with the lowest airspeed came out on top ...because the other guy STALLED ... with almost immediate recovery. Your story of no recovery is absolute Horse manure. Sorry, bud, but please retract your statements, otherwise I'm going to the F86 Association !!
Michael Dorn (Worf in Star Trek) owned an F-86... a tad slow compared to the Enterprise! 🤔 😆
The Golden Hawks were the iconic for many of us growing up. Way to live the dream!
My moms cousin flew these, when he was in the Canadian air force back in the day. He hasn't lost his love of flying, and at close to 90, he's still got his pilots license, and has had his own planes for years.
Was watching another video that is not even related to flying and saw this on the sidebar. My dad flew 86's over Korea in 52. He would never talk about it. Thanks for sharing!
6 wing on mk5 body that flew in 2009 centennial?
Is this the mk5 with slats or none
As a kid I saw many shows with the Golden Hawks.
The F-86 Sabre is a beautiful aircraft......Thank you Scratch....... Old F-4 pilot Shoe🇺🇸
An excellent presentation, Scratch. I just subscribed. Great visuals.
The fuel control has a shedule cam to limit the acceleration to prevent over temp on the TIT (turbine inlet temperature) This temperature in older engines cannot measured directly so it is computed by measuring the compressor outlet temperature and fuel and airflow . Also the fuel controller limits the deceleration to prevent flame out in the combustor. This process has reduced the workload of the pilot and considerably increased engine life.
quite an good discourse
You were truly blessed to have been chosen to fly this rare and beautiful jet! A life accomplishment, to be sure!
My cousin flew Sabers in Korea. 😎
I'd like this same pilot evaluate the MIG of that era. They had a vaguely similar shape but no other similarities at all!
Informative and what a demonstration of your skills and the iconic F-86 handling characteristics, such a finely balanced fighter jet. Thanks for the video and glad happened on your channel. Look forward to many more.
Canadian Golden Hawks. We just about crapped ourselves when the flew low over the highway while we were heading to the lake.
This is very, very cool! Thank you for doing this!
Friend of my family's husband died flying a Sabre in 1967.
Great video. I now realize I saw you fly at Abbotsford Airshow 2024. Always loved the CT-33, such a smooth looking aircraft in the air.
My father started his RCAF career flying the F-86 out of Bathurst NB, I think during summer training from RMC (long before I came around). His RCAF career started in 64 flying 104's, went commercial in 67, and aged out in 1999. Of all the things he flew, the F-86 was the one he loved the best. Also as a kid after the inevitable divorce my Mother moved back to her home town of Belleville On and we would go to the local park for cheap fun, they had (have) a Golden Eagle F-86 on display, I would stare at it for hours!
Great video and wonderful experience and honour for you. I recall as a kid watching RAAF Sabres fly over my childhood home in Australia. My best moment was when a flight of RAAF Sabres escorted a RAF Vulcan.
God bless you for doing this video. I’ve always been infatuated with this bird. You answered so many questions I had in this one video. Thank you!
LUCKY!
I had forgotten about this little gem, use to build planes out of balsa wood from scratch(sic) put 049s or 19s and crashed them within 90secs every time, no RC, just two lines of kite string for a stick. I also built the plastic kits, won third place one year with a Sherman Tank, first and last one I ever made. Like another commenter, I thank you for the vicarious fly along. You have a new fan, Cheers, Carpe Deim.
When I was an Air Cadet in 1965 I peered into a dusty, old hangar at London, (Ontario) Airport. Inside were several Sabres just sitting including a couple of Golden Hawks.
My dad was USAF. His first duty station was in Alaska flying F-86s. He loved that aircraft. He flew F-102s and 106s as well. Later he flew tankers and bombers before going back to TAC. Thanks for this report!
