Just a dude who quit his job to go on an adventure.
In the summer of 2024, I quit my job of 16 years to follow a dream of mine of traveling around the world. I started solo traveling in 2019 and got into videography when I was a freshman in high school all the way back in 2004. I'm really excited that I have the opportunity to take those two passions and bring them together to create this channel. I'm not sure where this next chapter is going to take me, but I'm ready to share it all with you!

Great video, it tells your story well. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jonny I just found ur channel and enjoying your videos & journey Thank you Manny
Thanks for tuning in!
Well said, "... no easy days on this ride". This is an excellent video series for anyone thinking of riding the GDMBR at a normal touring pace. Nice work!☮
Back in the day, I rode the GDMBR and used my regular touring setup- mtn bike, front and rear panniers and slick road tires. If you're considering this trip, I'd recommend starting in Jasper so you can include the Icefields parkway (a mostly road ride) as well. It is a beautiful start to the actual off-road route. The Canadian Rockies are spectacular.
I would say Canada was my favorite section of the trail
👍
Live and learn trip still looks awesome . If your wheels allow and you get a chance tubeless is a must .
I'm definitely going to go tubeless!
Great videos. I have watched so so many GD videos and your better than most. Looking forward to #4
Glad you are enjoying them!
I was doing 180 miles a day when I did this track
Dang that's a lot of miles!
Pretty sure it’s pronounced Lima, MT…..like the bean.
We always pronounced it as ''Leema" when I was a kid in Montana.
@ Ha! I’m not sure anybody knows. The Billings Gazette says it is pronounced Ly-maa. With a population of around 200, they can call it whatever they want!
I heard it be called both ways so I wasn't sure haha
@@larrytemres1712 I spoke to Jan at Jan’s Cafe in Lima. She calls it Lima, as in Ly-maa. I once had the best meatloaf dinner at the Old Schoolhouse Cafe. Huge portions! You might have to take a nap afterwards! 🤩
Enjoying the videos!
You’re not talking to the camera, you’re talking to me 😌
Audio and video quality is very good; what did you use to film your ride?
Just a GoPro 12. Used the built in mic. Added wind slayer to reduce noise wind. You can get the wind slayer on Amazon for pretty cheap
On a average day, how many other gdmbr riders do you come across {either going the same direction , or the opposite direction?
I really didn't meet anyone till I got to Wise River, Montana. When I was in Seeley Lake, Montana the owner of the Ice Cream store I stayed overnight at told me most people start the ride in late June and early July. So if you are looking to ride/meet other riders more frequently I would suggest starting sometime around early summer. I started in early August.
@@jonnyeverett Thank you for responding; and I really enjoyed your videos.
Nice 73 miler…your cycling legs are kicking in…don’t worry about rest days…the cumulative wear and tear can sneak up on you…just listen to your body

Keep it up Jon. See you when you get back from your adventure. Proud of you buddy.
Thanks Aloy!
Was the route to Lima you took the official route or a detour? I want to make sure to miss it.😂
It was a detour and I highly don't recommend doing what I did. If for someone reason you do what I did and go to Dillion, Montana I would suggest back tracking and going back to the official route. The official route goes through Bannack State Park and then to Lima. Dillion is off route by 20 miles.
@pauld1444 Yep, the ACA route from Bannack State Park to Lima isn't bad. Very pretty, remote, with a stream near the road. There is one steep climb before the drop down to Lima. It is a designated "Scenic Byway" dirt road in pretty good condition. ☮
I started watching your journey thr other day and just subscribed and you lention about feeling awkward talking with the camera.just be yourself and think camera as another person that you are talking to so more camera eye contact and talk like you are talking to a reap person.i admire that you follow your dreams and sharing it for the world to see
Thank you so much. It was a little awkward talking to myself when I first started, but talking to the camera like it is a real person does help me out.
Keep them coming. You seem like the real deal and its appreciated.
What time of the year is this. Currently -5 F here.
August 2024
Great video I look forward to following your journey.
Thanks for watching and tuning in!
Amazing scenery and I love your commentary. I hope to do this ride this year. Can you do a separate video on what you used to film etc? Audio quality is excellent.
I just used a GoPro Hero 12. Used the built in mic and put a wind slayer on it to reduce wind noise. Hope you're able to get out on the trail this year!
Great content
Just found your videos. Enjoying so far. Your 2nd night you could have hung your food from the middle of that bridge behind you instead of the tree.
That would of been a good place to keep it, but just wrapping it around the tree worked good
We are also virtual Divide addicts, from Australia. Really enjoying your authentic videos.
Thanks for tuning in!
Its ok my friend, little by little you will improve talking to the camera, remember that we are at the other side enjoying your adventure; just try to enjoy your new life and share with us your happiness, saludos desde México!
well being alone is somewhat of a privilege these days on this planet, maybe an acquired attitude. Your doing great, the trees, forests, and mtns are energy building company.(most companies just want your money). Eyes wide open. Thank you for your video, Good health to you.
awesome your stepping out of the regular cycle, so many different things out there. Great video of the canuck land part. kind of old life area for myself. Will try to keep up with your channel. Good health to you.
You are doing good, it not a race.
I have the same water bottles, good to keep liquid cold or hot, but a bit noisy on gravel roads.
Yeah they would shake around a lot, but I got used to the noise
Oh man do I get Iohan Gueorguiev vibes from this!! Great stuff!
Enjoyed your video very much! I'll be following you on your trip. 😊 Have a safe and trouble free journey with many happy miles!
awesome video, great adventure and can't wait to see the rest of the journey!
Subscribed, love watching these videos to see what all the riders actually do and different perspectives. Don't recal meeting you but do 100's every year, maybe you got water or snack my place cooler at road between kremmling and Silverthorne colorado about 8 miles before top of Ute Pass. Never met a bad person on bike, great community of folks.
Wow, that is very kind and generous of you to have a cooler of water and snacks out for the bikepackers! Seems like I missed it, but I'm sure everyone who does see it greatly appreciates it!
@jonnyeverett Thank you, kinda hobby, dot watch race becoming obsession, go out and meet, folks stop in, table, chairs, break and chat, I'm normally around remolding or something rural land. This year setting up channel here (lady partner moving in tech savvy, I'm not) so riders can say hello family, friends, how they doing type of things and we will post. As stated never met bad person on bike, consider all my friends. Cheers!
@@jonnyeverett You might have footage going around Williams fork reservoir, there is a river crossing prior to then past me up ute pass, the view top is epic!
Another good video! The section between Eureka and Whitefish was one of my favorites on the route. And that climb to Red Meadow lake was brutal! And that section between Llama Ranch and Helena is no joke either. Good job pushing through.
Thanks Ron. I watched some of your videos before I left on my ride. They helped me out a lot. Looking forward to your next episode!
Great video! I think I hike-a-biked that same section. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series.
Great video! Keep up the good work! Cheers from Brazil.
Loved your point about the loneliness. This is something in bikepacking / bike touring that is often not talked about when completing a route solo
The views are amazing 🤩
Great cycling, Great camping and solo. Good luck.
Awesome, will be watching your journey. Please show as much scenery possible and things you see along the way. Wonder why you don't have a backpacking stove? Instant rice, noodles, beans etc. Stay safe and healthy!
Thought I could get away with just eating gas station food, but I was wrong. Should of brought a stove. This was my first bikepacking trip so it defiantly was a learning experience. Thanks for joining me on my adventure!
I love your ramblings, there are hundreds of videos with spectacular sceneries, they're more than enough. I don't need impressive 200 mile stages, I just want to know your thoughts, what passes through your mind, your doubts and the good moments. ciao
It’s killing my dad and I to know what shirt you have on. Totally cool.
Men's SunSmart Cool Weave Shirt Short-Sleeve from L.L. Bean
@ thanks for the reply. We can’t wait for part 3.
Great videos Gary! And thanks for just being you! 🤙🚵
That rain storm really looked like it sucked , kudos to you . I'm already Subscribed looking forward to the next episode .
Thanks for tuning in and subscribing!
Appreciate your authenticity. It's not all smooth roads, downhill & tailwinds.
Thanks! I have been enjoying watching your GDMBR vids. Nice to see the trail in a different point of view
Excellent video thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching
I like watching GDMBR adventures. I just subscribed and just be yourself, you'll be fine. You look alot like Foresty Forest ( Another RUclipsr)
