This is insane. Shouldn’t be a debate. Bring back Marco Lainez! Give him a better NIL deal! And here’s why! 1.) He is familiar with Iowa’s players and Lester’s system. 2.) He’s athletic! 3.) You aren’t going to get anyone better because the best are off the board. 4.) Why look at one year transfers when Lainez has a couple of years left? 5.) Why bring in someone who would have to learn Lester’s system on the fly? 6.) You got Sullivan coming back and now have Hank Brown coming in. I just don’t get it? It would make sense bringing Marco back and let him work on his passing. What do you have to lose? Just makes sense bringing him back!

Running back by committee, okay with me. As for wide receivers, I saw lots of upside to those guys, even though they weren't targeted a lot, they blocked well downfield. That means a ton to me. Now we just need to use them in the pass game. The more you use them the better they will get. Seems like a good time to try out that pass game thing. I hear it's the wave of the future.

Not getting the least bit upset about Iowa's low portal activity. These players are in the portal for a reason. Some for a cash grab, and many because they aren't good enough to be the starter at their respective programs. I'm good with adding selective pieces for depth at a few positions, but you're not likely to find many, if any, all-American candidates in the portal. Players that are in the portal for the second and third time...I want no part of them. Iowa's strength is developing players, especially in the trenches and defensive backfield. I have faith in Lester to develop a qb once he finds the right skill set.

"why is he transferring?" C'mon. It's fishing for NIL offers. These players now have a successful season for a resume and can leverage it. The portal changed college football but NIL is the true demon to college football. Now players in good and successful places leave only to seek $$$$. It's disgusting.

Sounds to me that this season ending bowl bash is proving me right in one of my theories of the future of NCAA football. We won't have guys to route for on our teams, we will need a program to see where the player on our team transfered from and, oh by the way this is his only year left. There will be utter chaos on every team and if you don't have first or second roster spot nailed down, you might as well hit the portal and try to cash in on some NIL. I wonder how the NFL will like the new system. They will have to base their draft picks on this mess too. Will we start paying players by the starts they have so that we get our moneys worth out of them before they opt out on us.because there will be no loyalty allowed. This is a slow motion train wreck and we get to watch it happen. By the way I love Erica's passion but she is delusional on the recruitment of players. She needs to take off the fan hat when trying to figure the recruitment thing. It's all going to come down to what you do for me right away not one or two years down the road. I hate what is being done and I don't see a way to stop it. Used to love bowl season and the records of conferences against their foes. Now none of it means much since we don't play full teams with T portal and opt outs. Just kind of kills it all. I believe the bowls are going to be more and more meaningless. Better fix some rules or it will all be just like Cory says, the games are meaningless, so why watch them. That's my rant and I go back and forth on these things but it always seems to come back here.

I feel sorry for this team and im an iowa fan but until kirk is gone will never have a chance he has showed that he is not willing to improve the team to a contender and is fine with 8 wins at worst and 10 wins at best its sad that we have the potential to be great but we have a coach that is holding us back gotta get rid of him and find a coach that is willing to fix us

I am not sure why some think Iowa needs 4 qb’s for next year. Likely Stratton or Sullivan leave if Iowa lands another qb to compete for next year. Do we think we are going to land an appreciable upgrade to Sullivan, Stratton, and Brown? 3 qb’s with experience plus Jimmy Sullivan should be sufficient. The issue is the broken offense not the qb in my opinion. We were only above service academies in passing. Not appealing to better qb’s

Sullivan should get nod at starting qb. If anything they should look at a good young qb.

Hope not. Quit his team for playoff. He showed them!! Is that the kind of guy we want? I watch a lot of Portal shows. Cade was first in, but nobody even mentions his name. Yea, the guy Iowa grabbed ASAP and was penalizd for it. CONMAN. I went to Morninside College in Sioux City, IA. Good NAIA powerhouse. I doubt Cade could be the starter there. Fun fact,, George Allen started his coaching career there.

This year was a big disappointment especially the defense if they are to even have a chance at all the defense has to do much better next year

Under Kirk, they fare way better with lower expectations. Plus, they are not in bad shape roster-wise, regardless of what the doom-and-gloomers say. They still need to add some players, though.

Initially I thought 2025 would be really bad, but I think they have a chance to happily surprise us next year. They do not have the high expectations next year so I think many fans could end the year happy

9 wins was considered a bad year for this last season and they really underachieved with 8 wins. 8 wins next year would be a spectacular season with that schedule. I see 6-6 for the Hawks mainly because of the head coaches philosophy on offense costing them games they shouldn’t lose every year.

We need 4 star receivers that can achieve rapid separation and catch balls that are not always well thrown. OSUs QB proved that fact this year.

Unless Tim Lester is some kind of Svengali, no QB that isn't fundamentally broken should want to come to Iowa. Until the Hawkeyes can demonstrate that Iowa isn't a QB graveyard, we will end up with guys replaced due to injury, guys who didn't live up to expectations, or FCS guys who are dreaming of the big stage.

I find it hard to believe that Iowa has no money I just think they want to go out and throw money at someone and even if they did Iowa has a reputation now as being a program quarterbacks go to die. They will have to have a couple seasons to prove to people that is no longer the case. There is also the fact that they don’t have any receivers for a good quarterback to throw it to.

Speaking of NIL, what if the "powers to be" put a cap on NIL payments? I agree that players deserve a payday, but this move would seem to provide a more level playing field for many/most college programs. A cap should also shift the focus back to the game more and players would consider the attributes of the staff, team and college to a greater degree. Please accept my apologies if this subject has been beat to death already. Hawkeyes Forever!
