    I have to say, while I'd love to have seen this race in period, I'm not entirely convinced it would have done much better against the R8s than some of the other similarly funded p900s. The aero design just doesn't look/feel as advanced as the R8's was, It rather reminds me of the V12 LMR in its form factor. Thanks for the great content as usual Lenslr, hope you enjoy Daytona!

    I Remember that during the GT40 years there was actually another contender that never was... Abarth T140, a 6 Liter V12 powered race car that was supposed to be either in group 4 (as i think since it had a closed cockpit) or in group 6 (as Wikipedia states, tho I'm not sure). Sort of it is meant to be the Italian counterpart of the GT40, even by the design it seems kinda obvious since it actually looks like a modified GT40 with a 12 Cylinder engine instead of a V8. It never raced due to the regulation changed in 1967, so it was just a concept.

    The only thing I want to hear Dave Chappelle talk about is the EAST AFRICAN SLAVE TRADE wherein Islamists (Muslim Arabs) trafficked "African Africans" throughout North Africa, Iberian Peninsula, Middle East, and Western Asia----600 years of operation BEFORE 1526 when Portugal hit-up West African royalty to procure "labor" in what would become Brazil, South America. Muzlims have had a free-ride within Our Culture (United States); further, Izlam has sufficed a surrogate Lore/Religion for bigoted Afrocentrics like Dave Chappelle. Before Dave says anything, he needs to make sure everybody knows about the legacy of Slavery within continental Africa and the role Izlam played in administering and patronizing the EAST AFRICAN SLAVE TRADE.

      White "Supremacy/Majority/Privilege." Yes (just like the ethnic Greeks residing in Greece or the ethnic Japanese living in Japan or the Inuit living in Alaska or the Ngadjara Tribe of Western Australia...). [1]. European Colonizers (Great Britain, France, and Spain) did not waste resources transporting purchased WEST AFRICAN SLAVES to higher latitudes of the cold NORTH of North America because the region's strident weather, climate, and geography supported Subsistence Farming and did not yield CASH-CROP PLANTATION AGRICULTURE as practiced in temperate Haiti (West Indies), Honduras (Central America), or Brazil (South America). Hence, there were no WEST AFRICAN SLAVES bound to SUGARCANE PLANTATIONS in Maine (1820...). This legacy is reason Maine's 2025 population is 96% White. [2]. Native White (English-speaking only) Citizens of the New England States (est. September 3, 1783 via Article 1st. of the Treaty of Paris*) are not going to pay reparations because Slavery was proscribed at the State level of Their own accord [Revolution -- 1803 + Maine (1820...)], and no West African Slaves or African anything were involved or utilized to manifest, theme, or sustain 243 years of uninterrupted Dirigo Heritage (uninterrupted aside from the War of 1812 + Civil-War 1861-1865👀+ World-War Two 1939-1945). - Protestant Work Ethic. - YANKEE INGENUITY. * Treaty of Paris (3 September 1783). I believe one of the driving forces behind the 3-liter displacement limit was the Europeans' fear of the Scarab sports cars powered by Chevy Small Block V-8's. The Scarabs were consistently beating the best Imported Sports Racing Cars here in the USA, such as the 4.9 Ferraris, 4.5 Maseratis plus the Jags and Aston-Martins. Reventlow had been considering taking his cars to Europe in 1958 but the new 3-liter rule put an end to that.

    As I understand things (from a source who was at Riverside on the day), Ken Miles most likely suffered a complete brake failure. SoCal is rather warm in August, and the brakes had been getting spongy on prior runs - remember, the brakes were built for Le Mans, a much longer circuit, where they got a lot more time to cool between large stops. While there was no "Official" answer, the chap I spoke to seemed pretty certain in what he told me, and as he was definitely at the track that fateful day (there are photo's of him & Ken at the track), I believe him. Oh, and if you're wondering why I'm not naming names, I was asked not to, for personal reasons.

    • @lenslr
      @lenslr 5 дней назад

      Totally understad and appreciate the discretion - brakes would make more sense, I've heard some people say that it was a tire failure that was covered up to protect the relationship with Goodyear, which I've always had half of a raised eyebrow at as a reason. SoCal in August definitely warmer than Pays de la Loire in June - when I was at Le Mans Classic last year I had to go back to my hotel to get a jacket because it was like 40* in the early evening. Madness.

    Hi lenslr, great video! I just picked up a canon r50 and I am looking to noodle with motorsport photography at Daytona and Sebring. What would you say is the bare minimum soon for a lens for that application? Many thanks and keep it up!

    • @lenslr
      @lenslr 6 дней назад

      @@wheelinnreelin8632 hi there! So, I shoot primarily Nikon and can’t make a concrete “you need this exact lens” recommendation, but my two main lenses are a Nikon 28-300mm that, while at the low end of the range doesn’t have much use for on-track shooting, is so fantastically versatile that I’ve carried one quite literally around the world twice (38 countries, countless drunken nights and four big, multi-day mountain range treks before it gave up the ghost) and the Tamron 150-600mm G2, which is available for Canon mount and is good for everything during daylight shooting, but struggles a bit more at night. TLDR; you’ll want to aim for something with the highest max focal length you can manage on your budget which, looking briefly at compatible lenses from Canon, would probably be either their RF55-210mm or RF100-400mm, but of course verify those are compatible before ordering. I am working on a couple of videos about shooting at Sebring and Daytona and where to get the best shots, so look out for those in the mid-future!

    Sad for you to call it the 'forgotten' Ferrari. This was the car that came back in it's 'roadster' configuration like a modern 250 Testa Rossa. Until the 333sp there hadn't been a 'song' like the 250 TR since it's glory days of the late 50's and early 60's. The Colombo V12 was the real 'Sound of Sebring'. The 333sp's war with the Riley & Scott roadsters of Dyson and Taylor made the best I've ever seen in sportscar. To me, this period trumps the Ferrari/Ford LeMans wars and was extremely competitive, where the RS Dyson Fords and the 333sp's had the 'songs' to go with superior, competition.

Speedsource rebodied one of the rx8s as a 6 to run in the grand am experimental class an won. They used the car to develop the motor. They found out you cannot choke a race motor that much an expect it to live.they did try it in the new dpi class but quickly changed to the mzrr bullet with great success

    It was an excellent exhibition. I wish I had gone around it more slowly, and/or twice, to savour it but I was there on the 24hrs race weekend and had other stuff to do. As you say, it is doubtful that such a fantastic collection will be assembled again for a long time. Thanks for capturing it on video and for posting.

    2:10 the Lola naming scheme from 1986 onwards was quite simple, the first number being the year and the second being the type of vehicle. For sportscars it was as follows /10 for LMP1/900 /40 for LMP2 /60 for LMP675 and later LMP1 coupes /70 for Daytona Prototypes /80 for LMP2 coupes

      @ would you say modern dpi cars are "classics"?

      @nfitz11 definitionally not yet, although I would argue that they will be in another few years. But, in the use of the word Classic, this is another instance of HSR nomenclature over descriptive reality.

    Hell yeah, busy guy, congrats. I usually spend NYE and NYD doing about 10 courses for 2, about 30 hours work time in kitchen, I love it.

      @@BS84FV ahh my kind of work indeed. How do you usually structure your menus? Our thanksgiving and Christmas menus are largely unchanged for the last 65 years or so (I’m fourth generation doing the same preparations) but I’ll usually branch out for other holidays and build new tasting menus for those.

      @lenslr i make whatever I want, I take requests. Spaced out for 4 or 5 meals a day, some are just small dishes. I usually have a beef wellington new years eve, maybe some late night crab legs or scallops. Quiche in morning usually. No set structure other than we don't leave the house for a couple days, maybe have a campfire or 2. The tradition isn't the food itself, it's the crazy grocery list and prep work starting the day before, and then questioning why I do it by the end of new years day that is the tradition. Just for my wife and I, 3 days of kitchen, for the last 12 years.

      @lenslr I do plan it out for a few weeks, picking out side dishes I want, finding entrees to pair it with, making a couple pages of timelines and recipes, shopping lists. I started saving some youtube stuff in a Playlist so I have a wish list of stuff to try at the end of the year

      @@BS84FV nice - yeah the last few years for us have involved a lot of travel back and forth for the holidays (the now-wife is Polish, so logistics of being together took up a significant portion of the time and effort) but maybe this year or next we'll start planning something more along those lines. She's not as much of a gourmand as I am but we're working on it. haha
