Rise of the Ronin No Spoiler Review

This is a spoiler free review of Team Ninjas' latest game: Rise of the Ronin. A great historical backdrop with refreshing game mechanics, although the game falls for the Ubisoft 'too much stuff' curse which makes things fall a little flat. Let me know what you thought of Rise of the Ronin in the comments.

What a comeback for Respawn after a fairly naff start with Fallen Order. Survivor is a fantastic romp across the galaxy that all can enjoy. Sadly marred by the controversy of its studio, this game still manages to be truly delightful to play and encourages us to appreciate the world around us. This is a no spoiler review. Just replayed this game for the first time since my initial playthrough in 2016. It certainly hits differently after the pandemic. Its such a haunting, sad, yet incredibly beautiful game. It very much stands apart as a truly unique experience. Thanks for this amazing video, i think you really did the game justice

Finished the game today again, didn’t get my platinum trophy, wasn’t angry at all, so I went to reddit to say thx to the devs, made a photo from my tv with a screenshot I made on it and right before I shot the picture I have noticed it is 6:07 and my mind was blown away. I did get the platinum trophy... not on my console... but in my heart... learned a lesson for life from this game: Enjoy your life and don’t live by some stupid rules you put upon yourself that just steal your time. Happy new year my friend

This is one of SO MANY games that STILL hold up to this day even after a decade. The graphics, atmosphere, story, "characters." So many indie/smaller developers do a better job of craftin stories n worlds than AAA studios. Love games like this. 😊

Honestly, most of my favourite games are from smaller studios. It's such a shame when they don't get the love (or financial support) they deserve

Just finished this game on my channel, what a ride. I was a bit sad about the end at first, it is you need to figure out yourself what the story is all about. After some time it was all ok. I kinda get the idea. I did from the start think we where playing Kate, but then I changed at we where playing those we saw the memories from , like Frank in one chapter. But them came the end and oh well maybe we where Kate all along, make sense. Your video is really nice. I do not understand the radio and TV codes, or if they at just train numbers?

I think what makes this game so special is just how much of it is open for interpretation and also I found my views changed when I played it a second and third time. So glad you liked the review and it's interesting to hear your perspective 😊

One of my all time favourite games. The storys is amazing. Visuals gorgeous and the music is absolutely beautiful. I’m not sure I can find the words to describe it. No one I know has played this (despite my best efforts) so to find this very well put together review has been very very cool. I’ve played through it about 3 times now and I’m still finding new things. The story is sad and beautifully brutal in places, but its one of the best games ever. Cannot believe more people have looked over it

I don't know what happened with the game. It's such a disappointment from the others in the anthology. Even down to the character acting (which has always been stellar previously), seemed wooden and disjointed. Meaning I really didn't care what happened to any of them! Did the developers become complacent, or just uninterested in the franchise? A game recommendation, should the notion take you to review: Disco Elysium - there's a lot to unpack!!

Great to see a well presented and articulated review on this very much 'missed' game. Playing the game filled me with nostalgia. Why? I can't say as i wasn't raised in a quaint English village. I think because the game is set in UK, seeing the old red telephone boxes & other nuances makes a change to the usual USA based games. Interestingly, your perspective on who you play as, made me think about my playthrough. I felt i was visiting as another of the light source, and seeing what has become of 'my species' work in helping (for want of a better word). The game is relaxing and immersive with some genuine revelations. The recording from the summer camp hall was pretty harrowing.

Excited to play the wavelength dlc though.@@arkangel_1147 The last chapter felt like a Hellblade chapter; It was cutting deep! :)) tbh, I felt like Diane needed to be crushed way way more than it was portrayed; Didn't scratch my itch. I did learn that a long time after I completed the game! It really added to the panic! I wonder how it would have changed the game if A) I had known there wasn't a perma kill when I first played it B) if they had actually included the mechanic in the game

I am absolutely torn about whether to get this on PC or PS5. I think my pc would be able to handle it about the same as a PS5, but i find gaming on the couch so much more relaxing. On the other hand it seems like the controls are far superior on PC. Analysis Paralysis. Thanks for the review.

I never played this type of style game before. I never had a p/C, I haven't played Diablo either, it looked like to much stuff you need to remember to enjoy. I played and loved skyrim and fallout games, why are those rpg style seems more fun to me then this type rpg like balders Gate? I always played consoles, I mean I hear nothing but good things about balders gate that's making me want to save up for a p/C and buy it. Can anyone tell me should I do that and tell me from your experiences the difference between rpg styles like the Witcher (which I love as well) and a game like balders gate or a Diablo? I would appreciate it.

I completely agree that BG3 can be a lot to remember sometimes but if you choose to play certain classes of character it can make your experience a little more straight-pathed. If you already have a console, it can definitely be a good game to get on there, rather than saving for a PC. I think Witcher 3 has a similar vibe to BG3 but just with fewer options for how you play. BG3 Devs have definitely decided to go very deep into making your play through unique by having as many (sometimes less obvious) choices available. Either way, I hope you manage to choose what you want to do and it works out 😊

I do have to agree with you, especially about some of the scenes making little to no sense. I especially had a problem with the ending of the game, since it was very clear which choice the game wanted you to make. Also it didn’t really matter how badly you played until then if in the end you decide to kill the wolf boy which is basically the game’s way of setting the status quo back to its original position.
