    Can this be installed on all mounting points on all slides on a new MH to prevent the breakage problem from happening?

    • @Little-Enterprises
      @Little-Enterprises 13 часов назад

      @@joeb954 No, it is designed to repair a broken rail. The broken portion of the rail must be cut off. The block replaces the original pin mounting hole that was broken or cut off.

      @@ralphsarc1471 Thanks for the comments! This is a repair kit for broken rails which requires cutting off the tip of the rail. I suggest holding off until the rail breaks. @@briankinnear9386 thanks for the question. As mentioned in the video, I measured four different rails and all of them were different measurements tooth to mounting hole. I took the average. That’s the only way to get everything synchronized.

    1) I love this solution! I am a RV w/ Slimrack owner and have replaced a broken rack or two in my day. So, your bracket seems brilliant. I will be ordering a couple of them ASAP! 2) The variable pin hole location in the rack is due to the fact that a human drilled that hole in the rack and probably without a template or anything. For MANY years, when you ordered a replacement rack from Lippert, the ONLY way to get it was in an un-cut and un-drilled, 6 foot length (LCI part number 36899011). As an end user, you then cut and drilled as needed. It was up to you as to where to cut the rack and then drill the hole. Personally, I just made sure that I matched the rack that broke. Now-a-days, I am told that you can order them from Lippert in the correct length and with holes drilled, BUT all that’s happening is that someone at Lippert is taking that 6 foot stick and cutting and drilling it for you. So, they simply measure off the length ordered and then drills some appropriately sized holes “near” the ends. 3) I have had a rack break that was NOT at the pin location. If the slide room itself isn’t close to square, you’ll see racks on opposite sides corners of the room bow out. Just like your demonstration with the aluminum welding rod, as the rack bows in/out when you move the room in/out, one of the racks will eventually break at one of the teeth “valley” points. The racks I’ve seen break like that are usually 3-5 teeth away from the pin location. 4) Your stainless pin is a important upgrade. Several of my original pins were dang close to seized in the end of the rack due to the dissimilar metals of the rack and the pin. I’ve actually gone through, removed all my pins, coated them with anti-seize and reinstalled.

Also the UK has a reputation for competition car production. Likewise as I understand in Japan they have similar small engineering shops serving manufacture's . Does the US not have similar neighbourhoods ?. I know nothing of marketing, but surely these would be the target consumer. Me, that type of jig would just be jim dandy to have around. All the best.

      Normally you would use a specialized electric induction heater, which only takes a few seconds. The next thing is to measure it. If your mill won't measure it you could enter a rough measurement and then run a witness cut and adjust from there. Most of the heaters come with a height gauge built in so you can set the length as you insert the new end mill into holder. The accuracy is about .001 to .003 but with a little extra effort and a few tries you can achieve a range of +.0003 to +.00008. If you ever get one to repeat within .0003 then it's probably an accident or deserves bragging rights. It would be nice to find a (specialized) rig with optics built in though to set the tool length with.

    • @timramsay2995
      @timramsay2995 4 месяца назад

      These heat shrink tool holders can only be heated so many times. After they have been heated so many times they become less elastic. They won't open as much and they also contract ("shrink") a lot faster than they do when they are new. That means you have to be fast on the draw, especially if you are trying to set a precise and accurate tool length. You can tell that the holders are getting warn out when they begin to turn black. If you use the cooling sleeves that are designed for these holders, they will last a lot longer. The faster you cool them the longer they last. Letting them cool at room temperature is really hard on the lifespan. plus it's dangerous to have these hot tools sitting around where you might forget and reach for them while they are hot without thinking. I've seen it happen and the burns can put you out of work for week or two too. I'm gonna say they will last at least 10 times longer and probably more like 50 to 100 times longer. And they are not cheap.
