Friedman JEL 20 into UA ox box recorded directly into Logic Pro 11.
This is a custom made Friedman JEL combo and it’s absolutely killer! Only using the plexi channel on this demo.

Friedman IR-X quick demo with real cab

Plugged into a Seymour Duncan power stage 170 and a Friedman 1x12 cabinet (jj junior cab to be specific). In the loop switcher, I hit loop 3 to turn on the EQ pedal to basically give the Friedman a clean channel. Otherwise am using channel 1 or 2 pretty dirty. Guitar is an Eastman 59/v.

They pretty much sound like slightly different EQed versions of each other. However I do give an edge to the Friedman sound for my ear.
Did you use anything to boost the leads?
Sounds great. I’m highly considering this exact rig (Amp1 Mercury and Cab)
I just love the SV20
Sounds great. Need small portable rig with DIRT and cleans. So maybe the Freidman JEL is only dirt. So questions on the BluGuitar stuff... 1) Is the Nano cab overly directional or is just find (don't need the fatback)? 2) do you need/use the Remote control pedal? 3) Is the Mercury reverb lacking (you said the Flint is always on). I have had marshalls and totaly get tube complexity/harmonics but this is the best solid state sound I have heard. Sticking with the BluGuitar setup or moving on?
Hi there! Sorry for the late reply. The nano cab is totally fine and not super directional but it can be a little thin sounding in the low end so maybe the fat cab is better? Or use it with any usual 1x12 cab you like. I still use it for bar gigs to this day. It gets super close to my Friedmans or any Marshall I’ve played. I HIGHLY recommend it but make sure you do a deep dive on the settings. I recommend low power mode and low gain mode on the unit that sounds best.
Oh and personally I don’t love the reverb on the unit so I use the flint
I've had my JEL since October. It is a wonderful amp. Though I bought it for the 800 channel, I have fallen in love with the plexi channel AND the 800 channel with low gain...just a bit spicier than the plexi. Now I have GAS for guitars again. Great video, thank you for doing this.
Great video. I like the power amp saturation more - so I run my JEL20 Plexi Channel Volume at about 8 where it starts to overload nicely and have the Gain around 6… this way the bright cap is still doing it’s kerrang thing nicely. I also have a Marshall 1959 SLP and use it with the OX Box or the Fryette Powerstation. Having still that extra 5% mojo more than the JEL20 I have to say that Dave did an incredible job making an EL84 amp this big sounding
How do you like it compared to Friedman? Sounds great on my phone!
It’s very convenient for bar gigs when I don’t wanna lug around a big amp - I think it sounds fantastic and get probably 90% there! My only complaint is I don’t love the clean channel
For me it sounds 100% valve :) fantastic for a small gig
@@MrNachoponcho Hi man, I used to gig with this Amp and if you want a nice clean channel, you have to use put the clean volume to around 6-8, use the boost function (very important as this makes the clean sound nice and present) and then turn the small pot on the side all the way to the right ;-)

Good job. But, add the Bm after the G when you are "walking" down back to the D. Like this: Bm-A-D. Spot on correct. The Bm is the 6th degree chord in the D major scale.
