Well he did write 10 of the last 12 episodes, so it's understandable that he's stretched. What's less understandable is why he's not letting other writers in.

yeh, so many questions still remain... like the song in her heart that distressed the music god... like, is her dad the special one, or her grandma? etc etc etc she's gonna appear more next season so it's hard to feel like her story has been concluded yet. Feels like a misdirect.

@@LucyliciousDoccyWho I figure it's our Trial of a Time Lord: alienating to some, full of really good ingredients, and far easier to enjoy when you know the series has a future under different authors. A big, long heck of a pudding.

@@BenSwithena pudding? I adore The Flux and always have - it's like a bombastic trashy movie! So it's hard for me to think of it as hateable coz my perspective on it is very diffierent from the norm. Everyone's fav episode is the one episode I think is a big drop in quality for the series - Village of the Angels. I guess the parallels with Trial of a Time Lord are obvious, but idk, I don't feel like they are very similar beyond being serialised and at a time when the show was hated by many.

It made my parents give up on the series, which was sad but understandable. I had a tough time with it because I spent too much time thinking about the forums and what they'd think (which is the worst possible way), and also I was having a depression pandemic. The characters in Flux are great, and Village of the Angels is golden, and I love that the Sontarans successfully invade Earth twice in the space of six weeks. Dan and Yaz are glorious (and it felt like Yaz had a lot more to actually do in the series when the Doctor wasn't around, which was also good for her). Great villains too, but they all lined up to be defeated at the end, which was a series of pities. I'm glad we're finally seeing some emotional consequences (or any consequences) of Flux in the Doctor's life. I suspect I'll love Flux deeply in coming years, as I do with Paradise Towers and Kill the Moon (which are great!), but at the time, when it seemed like these six episodes were all Doctor Who would ever be, I despaired. Now that they're a part of the show, and not the whole of the show, I can stroke them like an amazing and ugly animal, and they can return the favour.

@@BenSwithen Flux was the series I always hoped Chibnall would do. I feel like every time he writes for Doccy Who, he learns from it, though not always the right lessons... so I was hyped for him to have a 3rd series. It would've been so tragic to only get 2 Chibster series'. I ADORE Paradise Towers. The writer for that is my fav Doccy Who writer, though his 2 stories have incredible production design, so it's hard to parse the writing from that. I can definitely understand vibing with stuff once they aren't everything Doctor Who currently is. Like, I was so so sick of Moffat while he was around. Never liked him as a showrunner until he was gone. I've only loved Kill the Moon for 1 of my watches. Please teach me how to love it. I think the whole episode is worth it for the clash between Clara and the Doc at the end... and I know it has the capacity to be an amazing episode, since I've loved it once before. Ooooh, I might just watch it now! It has been long enough to come at it with a fresh mind! Village of the Angels has plenty of cool bits. I love how it utilises pretty much all of the abilities of the angels... that is very cool. And the cliffhanger is incredible. I find Clare was only a good character in The Halloween Apocalypse though, when she was mysterious. Yaz definitely starts to get nice character stuff in the flux... I adore Swarm. I think he is one of the best villains in the show... he might even be my favourite. Idk, I do love Eldrad and the Raston Warrior Robot and Krynoids, but I think Swarm is better. Something I really vibe with is Time being an entity with feelings and thoughts. Like, idk, I think that's so interesting, even if nothing gets done with it.

Haha I'm glad you think my theories are outlandish! Tbh this theory is so persuasive that it's almost boring! I decided to focus on music this year, but if I can use these videos to advertise my music, then I have an excuse to make a bunch of them! I have so so so many theories I must share with the world, so the production value is dropping in the name of getting them actually made. I'm giving up on making every moment a work of art like my early videos were. Though I still have some super elaborate videos that are half made. maybe Chibnall is too arty farty to care about pushing his own narratives, and favours ambiguity. the more i watch his era, the more i appreciate his companions... like, Ryan is very underrated... but also, I think NuWho has given us many larger than life companions, and I genuinely appreciate having a Doctor who I could actually believe would take me as a companion. I can't compete with Clara, Bill, Amy, Donna, etc... they run towards danger and ask good questions, whereas I'd be pretty clueless and useless loads of the time. there is something to be said for under explaining stuff rather than over explaining. like, do we really need to know that Daleks are incapable of saying 'I LOVE YOU'? That weakens the show IMO. idk, i guess i feel like there's more to writing than the normal stuff we are trained to critique, and chibnall scripts can be really amazing. I adore the Flux. It's not a flat plot. It has interesting characters. etc etc
