    Thanks for posting this, was looking for info on this machine and couldn’t find the name. I am in the USA and bought this machine used 3 years ago , I believe I’m the 3rd owner. It’s still working great. Was looking for the specs to make sure I wasn’t putting too much weight on each carriage , but it looks like it supports 250lbs on each side , so I’m glad to have it. It’s a great machine 💪

    I really like your videos, thank you! I want to get the bench, just undecided whether I go for the standard or polyurethane padding. I’m a big fan of the latest AbMat pad that uses a closed cell foam. In case you know that one - is the polyurethane padding similar? How would you compare the two paddings in terms of comfort and durability or which one do you prefer? If the PU pad is better I wouldn’t mind paying the difference. Would be great to hear your opinion.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust

      The PU padding is definitely firmer. I have customers that have Super Benches that are 20 years old with original pads. If you look after them the normal ones are sweet.

    I hope they have improved the build quality of the combo rack. I had the older model and build quality of the weld were in inconsistent and the spotter arms did not line up. I hated it so much that I had to sell it for cheap. I ended buying a power rack from another company.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 15 дней назад

      I am not sure of the specifics of your issue, but we sometimes get people saying that parts are out of alignment thinking it is a faulty part. Modern gym equipment is made in jigs. The cut steel is placed into the jig and welded by machine. Very parts are welded by hand. So it is so much rarer to get faulty parts these days. 99% of alignment issues are caused by uneven floors. Where our current combo is there is 20mm variation. I could build that and have it very crooked. We had the same issue when we had the old combo that is in this video. Combo racks can have alignment issues as they have long span base sections. If these straddle a deviation AND you do not assemble with a spirit level you will have deviations. Flat pack gym equipment is built for floor deviations. You just have to build with spirit level and tighten bolts like a car wheel. If you just tighten up without checking one bolt can throw off the build. I recently put together a guide on how to do it - samsfitness.com.au/gym-equipment-articles/levelling-out-your-combo-rack/

  • @johnpain8380
    @johnpain8380 19 дней назад

    Great informative video there Sam. Thanks for that! I like that you still focus on the plate load version rather than just the weight stack version, as both are still relevant for heavy duty home or light comercial use. I still rock a Powertec LeverGym and Multi system (current models) as i am fortunate to have space for both plus a rack, crossover and treadmill. I am saving up with the mind to sell the Multi system and purchase an ATX Multiplex, as i do like the weight stack lat tower on it and better build quality with removable bench in particular. I will keep the plate load Powertec Lever Gym as it is time proven for myself, and like you say, it has a better center conector bar/system. I also do not like how ATX have removed the weight storage posts on the stack triplex and do not have band pegs as standard for the lever arms.. hence me leaning towards a Multiplex, knowing that in a pinch, a plate loaded LeverGym/Triplex etc. is compact, easy to move when needs be and is still a very fine peice of home gym equipenent. Thanks again for a very enjoyable and agreeable video. Cheers.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 19 дней назад

      If you were really desperate for banded presses, I am sure you could rig something up. Haven't tried it myself. Ultimately the nature of multi gyms is that you have to sacrifice somethings. But definitely keep the Powertec LeverGym. It is even handy as a 2nd lat pulldown. I started using the one in the video, even though we have the weight stack version and a Trinity. It is definitely a different feel to a normal lat pulldown - in a good way too.

    • @johnpain8380
      @johnpain8380 18 дней назад

      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust ironically I am not a heavy user of bands other than the odd exercise where I get the value of at least having the option as standard. For barbell squats, again ironically, as my rack does have band pegs, I prefer the feel of heavy chains for those, to save my lower back a bit when 'in the hole' and help overload the quads on the upper position prior to lockout. I totally agree with having a back up pulley system mate, as if one breaks it is sensible to have a back up while waiting for servicing or parts. I also totally agree with the different feel of the arc of the lever system vs. the straight up and down more traditional system. I find some exercises feel a tad better on one than another and visa versa. I also prefer the angled seated row on the decline bench as you happen to show on the vid. This can be hard to duplicate on the common seated row set up's. I do have the foot plate attachment for seated rows, but opt for the former with a parallel grip as It feels more natural to me and get a nice squeeze in the center of the back in a way almost unique to the variation. Lovely to read that you still gravitate sometimes to the plate loaded arc option. The machine has something of a legendary status in my mind. Sometimes despite all my other equipment, you just can't beat a lever gym/Triplex only focused workout on the odd occasion! Most enjoyable to do so in my opinion.

    Lee Priest - one of the living legends in bodybuilding. I remember in the 90's when I was in my 20's I used to buy Muscle&Fitness magazine and follow all the training tips taught by Priest, Yates, Cutler, Wheeler. When you looked at all those photos from bodybuilding competitions where Lee stood side by side with giants like Nasser or Dorian he was as huge as them (except for the height). How good are hyperextensions! I do them regularly, but mainly in my leg workouts. So I target the glutes and the hammys. After watching an old Lee video, I decided to use the shorter range to target lower back. Lee says he does them at the end of most workouts. Now I do them as well on back day too. Best way to target the lower back without overly stressing the body.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 20 дней назад

      The t-bar row is definitely on our list to review. We just don't have stock at the moment so that is why I haven't done one. But I can give you a mini review - - It is one of the pieces in the ATX range that hasn't been re-designed. Like the seated calf raise, preacher curl machine and leg extension. These machines are great already and relatively simple. So hard to make significant approvals. - Typical ATX over engineered design. Massive bearing at pivot point. - Adjustability is brilliant. Variety of grip positions can change the exercise completely. My son is on school holidays for 6 weeks. So he wanted to do a proper program, instead of us just dicking around choosing random exercises (he is only just learning the ropes with training). The T-Bar row has been programmed in despite me trying to use machines that we haven't already been using regularly (it is one of my favourites so I use it a bit). I want to move him onto a strength program eventually. He is 6ft and 65kgs so I need to add some meat on his bones. This is a great exercise to prep his back for deadlifting. Plus it works for me because I have not been deadlifting but want to be deadlift ready. Hope that helps. Sing out if you have any specific questions.

      @leman9166 20 дней назад

      @@samsfitnessgymequipmentaust thanks Sam for answering my question in such detailed comment. I know they didnt change the old model and the machine is fantastic because it work you whole back, in addition you can choose between narrow and wide grip in a non fixed pattern adjusting it to what suits you the most. Ive watched many bb videos like those battle for the olympia with lee, jay, ronnie, etc. and t-bar was one of the basic exercises for ronnie and jay said it was one of the exercises that made his back to caught up with Ronnie's, personally i prefer this exercise over chest supporter t-bar row. What concerns me the most is the position of the narrow handles while using the wide grip, if they can hit my thighs if they are a bit open or even my male attributes if they are too close, basically comfortability in this aspect. Thanks again for ur help, atx is a fantastic brand and u are doing a great job.

      @@leman9166 Here you go - ruclips.net/video/G9fHnKZPKuw/видео.html - I forgot about this one. The design hasn't changed for over 10 years. Trust me if anyone had of taken one of their nuts off, ATX would have changed the design years ago. They prioritise the changes on what can be improved the most. 100% t-bar over supported row. Supported rows are great, but t-bar is better. If you want to take it easy on the back do minimum of 20 reps.

    • @leman9166

    I had a rude awakening a week ago when I switched over to Olympic bench press from my Body Solid Lever Gym. I'd been solely on the lever gym for bench pressing for the past 4-5 years & had worked up to a 255# 1 rep max. Well, in the 2 workouts since getting back to Olympic I haven't yet ventured past 135# for like 6 reps consecutively. It is humbling. I knew there would be a weight reduction..just didn't figure it was going to be that big of a drop. I'll be continuing to utilize both versions going forward, so it will be interesting to see how I improve on both going forward..I'm 52 by the way.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 26 дней назад

      At 52 who cares! I think it is like only 5% of people over 50 train so you are already a top 5%er. Seriously though it is because you are not using your stabilizing muscles on the leverage. So in your 2 workouts these little muscles got fried quick. Your barbell bench press will build up quicker than if you had not been training at all. I am not strength training at the moment. Just training with my kids doing basic workouts. Have lost strength but my body does not hurt as much. I turn 50 next year so I simply don't recover from a heavy session like I used to. Been doing heaps of leverage presses and you work the major muscles to fatigue just like you would with barbells or dumbbells. That is the aim of the game. If I am not a powerlifter it really does not matter at what weight this fatigue occurs. As long as I gradually try and increase it. Even competitive bodybuilders back the weight off as they age. Andreas Cahling is still looking great and he is 70 just with light weights.

      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 27 дней назад

      @@JoeBuck-uc3bl FYI including the stand, it is only 130 to 140kgs. So not that bad. When calculating stress on floors, always equate it to humans. A massive 500kg gym is only 5 solid dudes. People don't freak out when people walk in, but freak out if they have a heavy fridge or something.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 28 дней назад

      Here is an article I did a long time ago - samsfitness.com.au/gym-equipment-articles/powertec-compact-leg-sled-weight-capacity/ That was before the thin style powerlifting plates - samsfitness.com.au/equipment/weights/powerlifting-plates/ - were readily available. We only sell IPF approved ones now. But the market is literally flooded with non-ipf approved ones now. If you look you could probably grab 4 x 25kg ones on the cheap. That is an easy way to add more weight. Or you can slot an Olympic bar behind the seat - ruclips.net/video/WtpM4QFSM6g/видео.html - which would be the least preferred method. Honestly you have seen the size and strength of Lee's legs. If your legs aren't the size or strength of Lee's then don't worry. Lee always preaches about higher reps, especially on this machine. Go hard on barbell squats.

      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust 28 дней назад

      Definitely excited to see the FCR-780. If you didn't already have a rack, then this would be my recommendation. Although it doesn't have a smith machine, I think it is better value than a lot of the all in one trainers that are popular these days. You get a proper power rack, the lat pulldown will be amazing, and the functional trainer will have more ROM than most. The FTS-7000 looks good too. But a little tip is that after years of training on the FTX-2000, once you get used to doing all your isolation work one arm at the time, you can save loads of money and space.

    that's what I am realising - you need a plan. also training your mind is essential ie making weights a habit like cleaning your teeth is what I am working on.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust

      For me it is not a habit, it is an addiction. Training releases chemicals that make you feel better - just like drugs. If I don't train I start feeling depressed. I reckon if you commit to a month of consistent training, eating healthy and getting quality sleep - you will feel that great you will be hooked for life!

    Why call these leg presses instead of hack squats or hack press? It looks to be a baby version of a Hammer Strength Linear Hack Press, isn't your body position supposed to be with a straight back in a leg press? Either way the Hammer Strength Linear Hack Press is my favorite hack squat, so I bet I would love one of these at home.

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust Месяц назад

      In the internet age, you have to name things based on what people are searching. So in this case compact leg press is the most suitable. The original Powertec version was called the Powertec Leg Sled. A lot of people used to refer to them as hip sleds as well. The best way to describe the machine is that it is in between a 45 degree leg press and hack squat machine. You are in a 30 degree position, so it is closer toward a leg press.

    hi, I really like ATX but I all have discs with a 25 mm hole, is there any solution? adapters or homemade modification? Thank you

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust Месяц назад

      Sorry Ben, in Germany their standard plates seem to have 31mm hole. So most of the plate loaded ATX machines had 30mm sleeves which would require 50mm sleeves for Olympic Plates. Unfortunately the number of people with standard plates is growing smaller every day. So I think ATX will now start building the machines - especially those designed for studios - with the chromed 50mm sleeves. They are just more durable and you can load more weight.

      The dip attachment docks into 21mm holes that are spaced 100mm apart (center to center). Not sure of the spacing of your rack.

    I already have it at home! and I'm excited! The best thing is that it is quite compact, it is not that long, it is less than two meters long, so it is shorter than a classic bar.

      It is even too big for our big gym! Seriously I would only recommend getting this one if you plan to lift really heavy. If I was 20 years younger I would get this one for sure. The compact hex trap bar is the best if you are tight on space. Used it last night. Really slow and controlled reps. No momentum, just touch and go at the bottom. Probably only had 110kgs on the bar. After 15 reps my grip was going. Feel great this morning which is the ultimate goal.

    Great review-thorough and insightful! Most open hex bars these days include a built-in jack, which is such a game-changer for loading and unloading plates effortlessly. It’s a feature that not only adds convenience but also enhances safety by reducing back strain and minimising the risk of accidents. While I appreciate the ATX Open Hex Bar’s focus on a compact and robust design, I feel that incorporating a built-in jack would elevate its functionality and make it an even more worthwhile investment.

      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust Месяц назад

      It is funny that you mention this today. There was a post on Garage Gyms Australia Facebook page about an inferior brand hex trap bar with jack that has bent. What makes this compact bar perfect as it is, for its intended purpose, is that it is light and compact. 1) My 14 year old twin daughters can do a 32kg deadlift with just 10kg bumpers. 2) I store it hanging on my wall. 3) Having no high handles forces you to perform exercise with greater ROM. Therefore requiring less weight. Such a great leg exercise. 4) I can easily put it my car and take to the park for outdoor training I genuinely love the bar and it is not "marketing BS" because I can show you how beat up the bar is from my use! The heavy duty ATX Trap Bar - samsfitness.com.au/equipment/atx-hex-trap-bar-xl-50-mm/ - also doesn't have a barbell jack. It is worth noting that it only weighs 23kgs. We used to sell a trap bar with a barbell jack. It weighed in at 32kgs. It was a beast! But trust me it was massive and a PIA the ass to store. But this demonstrates the impact of design has on the end weight of the bar. As an expert on moving weight around, you would be more likely to strain your back moving a massive bar like this around than loading plates on any hex trap bar.

    I'm sure that they thought about it, but one thing that could be an improvement would be to do the same thing they did with the upgraded model of the multi press, With Ø 50 mm weight plate holder as standard and slightly beveled weight plate holders secure the weight plates against slipping

    • @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust
      @samsfitnessgymequipmentaust Месяц назад

      Yes I imagine they would upgrade the machine eventually. I know some like the BBM-670 preacher curl and BCO-770 leg extension have not been changed because they are already very popular. That is why I think this machine remains largely unchanged.
