Schultz Family Farms

I am a 5th generation farmer in southwest Michigan, where my family and I grow corn and soybeans. My Grandpa started his farming career in the 1950s on the 80 acres that was homesteaded by his grandparents. Today it's my dad, my uncle, myself, my cousin, and my brother-in-law that do the day to day work so we are truly a family farm. I feel blessed to be able to carry on a 5 generation legacy and do what less than 2% of the population gets to do everyday. Thanks for watching!
Loading Potash out of a Train!
We bought some potash and loaded it right out of a train car! The elevator was on the way, so we hauled corn and picked up fertilizer coming home. Time to start spreading fertilizer!

Happy New Year! Once again I got behind on the videos so I apologize for that. This time of the year gets pretty boring as far as stuff happening around the farm, but I'll figure out something fun to do in the next week or so. As always thanks for watching!

Grape Harvest in Southwest Michigan
Просмотров 718Год назад
We are rained out again so might as well show some of the other harvesting going on in Southwest Michigan. These are juice grapes harvested with a machine and pressed for juice and jelly. The machine you see here is made by Oxbo International. Oxbo manufacturers all different kinds of specialty harvest equipment. As always thanks for watching, and check out Schultz Family Farms Instagram for more!

The John Deere 4600s are pretty awesome in the combines. Learning the machine sync takes some time, but we will figure it out. We are 45 miles away from home with the machines. Hopefully we can get across the acres and move back home before the rain hits!
Harvest Time! The field caught on fire!

It's finally harvest season! Day one was good, except for the field catching on fire. Powerline fell and caught the field on fire, and no it wasn't us. The S780s are working great!

Great to have y’all back!
Thanks! It’s nice to be back!
Glad to have u back. Time to get to work! 😂
Yes it is! It’s nice to be back outside
Good to have you back. Spring is coming soon.
Thanks! Planters will be in the field before we know it.
Good to see your still around..hard to believe we'll be planting in month or so
Yes it is! But I’m ready to be in the fields!
welcome back from Florida. lol
Thanks!
I'm watching here in Nebraska. Down here we spread dry fertilizer in blends. What are the advantages of speading pot ash & DAP or MAP at individual passes. Enjoy watching!!
We don’t have a great way to tend multiple products to the machine at one time. And we can cover more acres between loads when we are only doing one product at a time. Obviously there’s advantages and disadvantages to both ways. This is just what works for us.
Makes perfect sense since you would be needing alot more product & you would waiting on tenders or driving to/from town. Not what that machine was built for. Thank you your quick response!! @@SchultzFamilyFarms
Sweet rig!
New leader L2020
Good to see ya again. Looks like u can really cover the acreage with the new spreader. When is Doug going to make his youtube debut? Lol! Have a good one, time to break out the snowmobiles!
I was just fine with the mild winter we were having. We were a lot more productive without the snow.
looks like a better spreader then most custom places have...your farm got a lot of new equipment last year. Bet its fun to farm with mostly all new stuff.
We used to use a custom service, but got tired of them always being behind so we decided to do it ourselves.
Nice spreader
Thanks!

Thanks for watching!
My favorite job spreading podash
How did you like your Neco this fall?
We loved it! It was easy to figure out and operate. We ran a lot of 30+ moisture corn thru it and had no issues.
Who’s the grain cart guy what’s his name
360 and 0 are the same thing ask the hillbilly
Great video
Thanks!
A farm tour might be cool. Neat to watch this, I live in Stevensville
Right next door! Thanks for watching!
Good to see ya! You guys started hauling anything yet? Normally go to New Carlysle and ethanol in South Bend?
We haven’t hauled anything out yet. The lines at the ethanol plant have been 3 hours+
It's good you had some time off from the camera. Good to have ya back though.
Mostly office work with a few days off. Nice to get out of the office for a few days.
I remember working at the farm and I always noticed a difference when we lime a field the yields would get better over the next few years always well worth the time and money great video buddy hope you had a great vacation from everything lol thanks for sharing
Thank you!
Welcome back to reality. Lol
Haha I actually only took a few days off. Mostly it’s been office work.
VERY cool!
Congrats on harvest completion, hope you all had a good Thanksgiving!
AWESOME YOU GUYS ARE DONE WITH HARVEST I JUST SUBED HOPE YOU HAVE A HAPPY THABKSGIVING SCHULTZ FAMILY FARMS
Thanks for subscribing! Happy Thanksgiving to you too!
Awesome glad you finished up harvest and you are able to get fall tillage going before it gets too cold and wet it’s been a great fall really not been too hot or cold and the rain has been enough to keep it from being too dry and not enough to drown everything lol great video buddy hope you all have a great thanksgiving thanks for sharing god bless
Thank you! Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Congrats on finishing harvest. Just finished here as well. Have you considered using a speed tiller? Degelman does a great job on the soil here. We deep rip as well. Definitely not every year though. Do you do any deep ripping? You do a great job of explaining things. Stay safe.
I really want to try a high speed disk. With the long harvest, I didn’t have time to line up a demo so we are just using what we have. We definitely have some areas that could use some deep ripping as well. Glad to hear you guys got your crop out of the field! Thanks for watching!
Very interesting!
Nice grain bin setup. Beautiful farm operation all around. Thanks for your effort in putting these videos together during a busy and stressful time.
Thank you!
That’s how a grain system is supposed to work unfortunately I seen a RUclipsr cornstar also built a grain system and they didn’t get a good job done with it 😢 great video buddy thanks for sharing hope the rest of harvest goes smoothly On heating and cooling of shack you could maybe use a ac/furnace like a house that has a separate outside unit that you could put farther away from the shack take note now of a area where the bees wings are mostly blowing away from always/up wind 💨
It's good to get another video from ya. Was wondering how harvest was going for you? We call them bees wings as well or red rain.
We are finally getting a decent stretch of weather! The corn is still really wet for this time of year but we have about a week to go and we will be done
How is your harvest going?
Doing pretty good. First beans done also a day ago finished double crop. About a thousand acres left on corn. Doing tillage as well.
What size generator? 4 phase I presume? 400 volts?
500kw with a Cummins 760 Hp motor powering it. Yes 3 phase 480 volts
@@SchultzFamilyFarms awesome!
How freaking cool !!!
Looks like an awesome set up Craig, saw Doug at CJ’s one morning and he was talking about all the computerization, definitely a learning curve but should work out well for you guys!
Congrats on the system up and running. Looks really nice. Monitoring the dryer/whole system from your phone is a huge plus for all of us. Was wondering, how many trucks do you run?? Take care and stay safe.
We have found with this system that we are able to keep up pretty easily with just 2 trucks. The remote monitoring is awesome! Super happy with the whole system.
Saving money already, congratulations !@@SchultzFamilyFarms
Very interesting Mr. Schultz!
Looks like a good set up
We are happy with how it turned out so far!
Excellent! Do you plan on putting a shed over the pit? To keep water etc. from getting in it.
We don’t have any plans to enclose the pits yet. We haven’t gotten any water in them yet. Hopefully it stays that way.
Yummy I love grape juice and grapes thanks for sharing
Thanks for showing us this I really enjoyed watching
