Hi-I’m Dan. I help search marketers earn more.
I never planned to be an SEO.
For nine years, I was behind the camera, capturing moments, building a business-until burnout changed everything.
What followed was an unexpected journey, one that took me from wedding photography to digital marketing, from financial strain to a career I’d never imagined.

🎓 What (exactly) is Semantic SEO? Entities? Google Knowledge Graph!!?!
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.10 месяцев назад
Semantic SEO is the process of providing meaning AND context to a search engine to feed its knowledge graph. Semantic SEO is a form of search engine optimization because it is code that machines understand. That is, no interpretation is needed. And the way you feed the knowledge graph is two-fold: (i) schema markup and (ii) adding entities to third party knowledge graphs and databases. Chapters...

Another excellent tip
Best video explaining this i have found. Amazing, pleasw do a step by step video showing how to optimize blog articles with this
I'd really appreciate more content about semantic SEO from you.
very informative, i have been following you regularly on linkedIn
No explanation about entities other than "Things"
Entities are simply things. Why overcomplicate it? What matters is how you define things that are important for a search engine or machine to understand.
Hello, interesting thoughts opposing "Ranking Factor" VS "Better UX". But if you are running a business or offering SEO Services with necessary limited time and budget, you need to focus on what i will make the difference. So may be Better UX will sometimes not make the difference at all. Thank you for sharing this and I think your point is about having this mindset "Better UX" > "Ranking factor".

Nice video Daniel ✅✅ Did not know about this, thank you.
Your videos are awesome dude! Im learning a lot Daniel!
Great content Daniel! I had a question about the automated schema that WP plugins create like Rank Math. You mention that you need to disable this to avoid duplicate and conflicting schema which will make your manually added schema invalid. I was talking with Jesper Nissen (know for his cloud stacking software, YACSS) and he mentioned that he saw drops in rankings when disabling the wp plugin schema. Have you had any issues with this in the past? If so, what is your approach here for implementing the manual schema onto existing websites that have automated schema from wp plugins?
I don't see how one could associate removal of automated schema markup with a material drop in keyword rankings. As much as I like semantic SEO, it has no direct ranking impact and 99% of automatic schema markup doesn't really provide meaningful context for SEs.
I guess it depends on the quality of schema and how well google understands the webpage the schema is on then? As you mentioned, the generated schema from plugins is usually garbage and doesn't really provide any understanding of your webpage to Google. But if your webpage content is not written in a way where Google understands it crystal clear, then adding schema could help google understand it better thus maybe helping with rankings? @@danielkcheung
Daniel, I am going to put you on the spot. What is your view of Kooray's course on Semantic SEO. Have you taken it? Have you looked into it at all? I just can't find any reliable independent assessment so I would be interested in your POV

Welcome aboard!
Appreciate your thoughts. Can I ask, does schema help my target audience achieve their goal? Does it improve user experience?
Schema markup is for search engines, not for humans. Indirectly, when a SE understands who the publisher is, its relationship to the website and its content, one can argue a SE can serve relevant content to searchers without relying solely on keywords. Schema markup is another access point where a machine can validate certain information about all the involved entities.
Never heard of the accessibility extension before, I'll have to give it a shot. Would you be open to trying the Easy SEO Extension out? Think of of it like SEO Pro but on steroids.

Hi brother, I have a question - What are your thoughts on EEAT? Everyone says that you want to hire an SME for content writing, only then you'll be able to rank content. But let's say you are a new company and you don't have much to spend to marketing let alone SEO. And hiring an SME is expensive. So what should I do then? Will my content not rank? Currently I am working on a project where the company doesn't have much money to hire an SME but we hired writers who have experience in that field. So is this effective? There are too many advice on Linkedin and blogs, but not one person is sharing concrete solution.
Great question! I'm by no means an EEAT expert and I have no data to support what I'm about to say. But .. EEAT has always been a concept. It is Google's vision of the Web where content can be validated and creators + authors are declared for transparency purpsoes. I'm fairly confident Google has no way of knowing who is a SME. It also, as a machine, at the time of writing has no way of knowing what is "good" content and what is "helpful" content. It can only measure interactions and some human will programme some form of logic to determine what is good/bad/helpful/not. EEAT can be applied to a company or organization. It isn't exclusive to an individual human being. Take your big bank for example. Their informational content is published as the brand, never as an individual author. So it comes back to reputation (branding), awareness (branding) and meaningful backlinks. EEAT is NOT a ranking factor but they can influence user signals AND conversions. Hiring SMEs to write content will not make it rank better. But it will make the content more USEFUL for your target audience. The problem is that SEO is too slow. If the content is good, pay for it to get in front of eyeballs. This is marketing 101. SEO is just one lever. Therefore, ranking should be seen as a branding exercise where EEAT provides guiding principles on how to communicate your experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trustworthiness.
@@danielkcheung Makes sense. Thank you brother 😊
@@danielkcheung Bro you should also create a video on EEAT as it will very helpful and fresh POV is always welcomed. The only person who explained EEAT in the best way is Olaf Kopp. And I am sure your POV will also be very helpful.
@@nileshparashar6853 I agree - both would be a great video and also that Olaf is the most reliable source on EEAT right now

Bro, this is pure gold. It's really, really helpful. Tomorrow I have an interview and if the interviewer asks me this question, I am going to answer what you said about user experience. And this is very fresh and good perspective. A very good and different way to look at things. Great stuff bro, keep going 💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
All the best for your interview. Remember some interviewers are power tripping and may not like your response. If you know something to be a ranking factor or signal, say so, then suggest an alternative that’s based on search experience optimization or user experience to demonstrate your deeper understanding and application of SEO.
@@danielkcheung Sure brother 🙏

hi @Danielkcheung can you tell me how to make a strategy for a new client what things do you start from start to end?. Is it text written or do you show the actual picture or screenshots if we have any issues finding through third-party tool.? Thank you for the video.
It will depend on what the context of your engagement is. As I mentioned in the video, strategy requires a lot of informational input - oftentimes you won't have access to the right people or information to create an end-to-end strategy. And this is fine because if you've been hired to solve a problem, you can create a plan on how you will resolve the problem, how long it will take, the level of resources required, and what success will look like. I wouldn't stress about creating a strategy doc per se. What you do should be anchored on what your client wants to achieve.
Thank you Daniel. What a amazing content! ✨
My pleasure! This fuels me to film more 😚
really useful
Glad it was helpful!
This is a great list Daniel, however I usually take the last option mentioned as my first step along with Bing data checks and GA landing pages data, keyword data, geo data , device data, host etc if diagnosing organic traffic drops. And then use those landing pages to further look for any particular issues, like changes in SERP structures, actual rank drop or cannibalisation issues, link drops, actual content issue, indexing issues etc. Do you think looking at the step 14 as the starting point would bind you in anyways?
The reason why I recommend starting off with general site wide checks is so that I’m looking at big picture. Getting into specific traffic loss per page and query oftentimes ignore broader issues of crawling, rendering and indexing. I want to assume nothing and see what the data suggests as opposed to going in with a bias.
This is really quality content. Truly Appreciate the way you broke down into simple steps and made it so easy to understand. Thanks! ❤
Thank you for watching @girishkr8210 👏🏻
Your example is not correct either, that's an objective not a strategy (strategy is the general plan to get those goals, read hbr - porter ) and your tactics are too general and obvious. Of course you have to rank your pdp and plp like in any e-commerce, crawling, indexing? like in any web, chatgpt can give me that list of actions
Perhaps you've missed my point or at the very least failed to grasp the context of my example. Tactics rarely differ from one website to another - after all, as you said, reduction in tech debt is common. At Optus, there were critical issues that existed - things you and I would scratch our heads as to why an enterprise build would disallow all crawlers in robots.txt, or lack of H1 in any page template, inability to define canonicals, and a long list of features that should exist (but didn't). These needed to be prioritised before anything else. And if you've ever worked at a large organisation you will know getting the most basic of things done takes a lot of meetings and buy-in. We're not talking about your average niche site on WordPress. That's why my tacticals seem "basic" to you. And you're right, ChatGPT can spit out a laundry list of things - but how useful is that? Not very ..
Keep it up, bro! Great content 🎉 I never knew I had to know this, lol. Genuinely great vid! One (unsolicited) feedback I have would be to maybe do the fullscreen canva presenting thingy? If that works for you, of course! I know it leaves a blank black space in the left and right, but I thought it might be of help 🤗 Cheers!!
Good tip! I'll remember for next time I record :)
