? where did you find aluminum right crank case cover to replace the crappy Magnesium cover for 1985 cr500
Ebay its a billet cover also
@@kenduro2222 could you send the link only covers I find are Aluminum covers for 87-88' years and they are not for 1985 CR500.
@@ZAZA-zu4ld you have the 1 peace stock cover or 2 peace newr model one ? I got the 2 peace cover from 87 too 01
@@kenduro2222 I got the 1 piece cover my bike is all original but I wanna replace the magnesium cover so I don't have future problems with water pump leaking into my engine case. I'm looking for an aluminum cover to fit my bike I'm sure I'll need new hoses and impeller. I just don't know where to find one that will fit 1985 CR500
@@ZAZA-zu4ld i think it was from 87 they moved to a 2 peace clutch cover. So everything from that year will fit your bike such as 87 to 01. You Will need the inner clutch case and outer clutch cover. You will need new coolant hose. The one that goes from inner clutch case to cylinder head. As ones supplied on new hose kits are a little to short. Also OEM one is just a little short. I got one from ebay car radiator hose. Part number here Heater Hose 02-1859 Gates Coolant 9065010682 A9065010682 427521859 Quality New. There are better ones but all i could find

If its running lean check the left side crank seal
Was a tear on intake manifold. Supprised it even run like it. All fixed know tho.

That’s some machine mate. Ave got a o4 cr250. A couldn’t afford another 500 lol.
You hardly even got it up in the power band
Gets right up to a fly pubic hair within the beginning of the power band and backs out! Poor spark plug.😔
Ahh . . . the good old days. When I hear it I instantly recall the smell. Wonder if my old machine is still out there , making people smile.

Put a 178 main in it and fixed the issue

Try and check the colour of the plug it's tip should be the same colour as the inside of a Cadbury whispa that should give you a good starter and make sure you start with the carb needle in the middle position for a base line and a larger main jet to like you were saying good luck for the future

@@blanchard899 stock carb. I put bigger main jet and it fixed the issue. Just trying to get the time to make new video

@@blanchard899 will do. With the 62 pilot 178 main sound so much better but think it still hangs that bit not much just a little. I was thinking tl put it too 180 main not sure

Crispy sounding, dont idle a race bike too long, go moto it wfo.
Remember its a race bike, not a trail bike..hold it wfo and hang on..
I raced my 84, it was awesome. I rode a buddies 85 and 89, and im still smiling..that bike will get your heart pumping. Hang on to it.🤠👍🍻

I got the boyesen rad valve bud
Use the R1369N needle on 3rd clip postion. Air screw turn it all the way in clockwise til it stops then back it out 1.5 turns out counterclockwise. Main jet should be 168 main and 65 pilot. Make sure the carb is the Keihen PJ21A carb so you know that’s the stock carb
I got stock carb but have taken it to 62 piolt and 170 main. Going to put it too 60 piolt and 172 main. Will be correct jetting for my location
@@kenduro2222 what’s your elevation and weather temp at? I’ll do the math for you and get you jetted perfectly 👍 make sure you run 32:1 in that bike

Was a bit gutted to be honest. 3rd time it happend. Was running lean. Took a while for me to learn how too tune carb.
Check your frame tubes carefully. Every chrome molybdenum frame get's stress cracks if ridden long enough. My 78' YZ250's frame was riddled with 'em when I retired it.
