THANKS FOR THE DEMO 🤗💚💚💚
😯
Thanks for the demo. I was upset I wasn't going to get a taste after all that
It has convinced me now, Magnepan is part of a group that has sold their souls, the sound and the Axpona reviews are terrifying you excellent… I cannot wait to add the UBS to my system….
Which pressings are these? The Impex remasters are the best.....both the vinyl and the gold cd. There was a 3 record 45 RPM box set release as well, but that's pricey.
Rel Carbon Special subs JLA CR-1 active crossover Shunyata Research Python xlr 2.5m
Bets are on that the UBS subwoofer will never be released. It's predecessor, the subwoofer in the "Magnepan Mini 30.7 for condos" model never did.
Nah, they invested too much in this that they will.
yeah they went from skunkworks prototype to beta version and this will be released-- the big question is PRICE
During an interview with Audio Belle, he stated the "condo" Magnapans did not work out due to supply chain issues during COVID.
@@pfunk34 I don't believe this. Here's my theory: the "condo" maggies were so good that they threatened to cannibalize the rest of the line, especially the 30.7, 20.7 and 3.7.
Fascinating!! Definitely be a nice match with my Maggie's!!
🤗👍😎💚💚💚
Interesting,I love this, you're doing a job that make any audiophile/music lover realize what is the BETTER sound he/she is supposed to look for.
THANKS AGAIN THOMAS,VERY COOL 😎 WE APPRECIATE IT, BUT WE NEED MORE SOUND CLIPS 😁💚💚💚
LISTENING AGAIN,THOMAS 🤗 UNDISTURBED 👩🦰 😁for the first time on my system with volume 😎💚💚💚
Is that your wife talking in the background when the turntable is on?? That freaked me out. Lol It’s when the vocals come on.
Interestingly many are preferring the CS55 CD to the CS 100 CD. I wonder if the same would be true in a side-by-side real listening test? I would like to know if there is a big difference in DAC quality on these two CD's, via the rear USB. I am considering upgrading my Cayin iDAC6 MK II to the CS 100 CD and using the USB but wonder whether it would be money wasted?
I thought it was good in class AB but when A started WoW
Turntable wins quite comfortably and then Venus 2 in a close second.
What is the music played here?
Vivaldi the four seasons
@@massimoperrucci6037 Thank you. I can't believe I did not recognize that. I used to listen to it all the time.
@@user-od9iz9cv1w..sure ?! Then better go and see a neurologist 😮
Great sound demo. I know this piece and to my ear it is very good. I enjoyed both the A and AB for different reasons. The AB is closer to my own room. I'll record this and play them back to back to get a sense for where my system needs a little help. BTW, I think you were picking up interference in the left channel likely caused by your cell phones. Best to go to airplane mode before recording a demo. If the phone is trying hard to talk to a weak tower signal your get it's radio signal picked up by some part of the system. Any little chunk of wire can act as an antenna.
In my opinion I heard more of every nuance of the instruments on the Technics than on the CD players
Drum sounds the best through Cayin CS55 CD imo. but it's not a really fair comparison because all of them are playing at different volumes
Lp wins naturalness..cd 55 like too but 2nd
just played the song through my system to know how it sound ,, in the demo in general it sound good but in some parts it get a little harsher than my setup but tbh i sensed it is was ok , nothing over the border . is this with the Apls pot or the new one you said it will be on the final product ?
I know I have it but cannot remember what piece this is. Can you name it?
Direct feeds would have been much better than a distant, echoey sound off a mic at a distance. Also like others have already stated the Technics clip is a lot softer in volume. Also the Denon DL-103R will sound better 50 to 75 hours in and the Mac built-in phono stage is only average sounding in the grand scheme of things. So there is that. Thanks for the effort regardless.
What’s the interference we can hear a buzzing sound and some distortion too… esp in the highs?
I heard it too.
@@Simplyveej IMHO cell phone radio picked up by the system
WOW! That Venus 2 is quite impressive! The depth and punch of the sound is amazing. Denafrips sure knows what they are doing. Interestingly, the 1st Cayin sounded very 2 dimensional and not terribly engaging. But, with the 2nd Cayin, the punch and depth were back, but maybe not QUITE with the sense of surrounding presence as the Venus 2 😁 The TT was recorded substantially lower, so honestly it was hard to tell, but it sounded nice...
Levels are different. CDs are louder
is the record a digital recording? depends on phono stage does it match the cartridge or match it yourself
No disrespect to our dear Mr. Thomas, but when it comes to analog, I honestly don't think he spends that much time and detail with it (that's why I secretly think he has never really realized its full potential, but don't tell him I said that... 😁)
The CD players in this contest sound better than the „iconic“ Technics record player….no doubt at all. Vinyl is for nostalgic reasons only and/or for people who like to fiddle around with adjusting cartridges etc. I like the looks of the Technics SL1200 though….but it sounds lame in comparison!
😲
🤗👍LISTENING AGAIN 😁😍😍😍
Technics is more spacious and softer, great for longer listening sessions - less tiring to the ears. Thanks for the time stamps, Thomas!
YES! ................longer listening session reveals what is more natural.........and less ltiring because of that reason.....maybe less impressive to start ...........but natural wins inthe end ............
I have been running by DAC output thru a 3-head Nakamichi (RX505 - all those electronics inside are doing something to the sound signal I guess) cassette deck then out into my pre amp. This process soften the digital sound, making it smoother and less harsh to listen to.
@@samt1039 that's what we did in the recording studio with a hidden Studer 38 cm , the client asked DDD ....they were very pleased with the sound !!!
Thomas … I love ❤️this song…I preferred the CAYIN 55 slightly over the technics My favorite BTW …Jennifer Warnes CD is The Hunter 🤗👍😁 If it was on a record I would’ve probably worn it out right now😁
All sound just fine to me.
Adjusted for volume differences and found the CS55 to be my favorite. I think that I favor the character of the tubes but all were excellent and the Technics/Denon Combo was very alive.
The vinyl was more natural ............the CS55 has the benefits of a great sounding tube output stage....both are good , each has it's own strengt.............
Venus sounds like it’s compressing the music I have a Pontus II two and a very happy with it. Does scale the heights with a super recorded cd. But so does my modest turntable set up overall vinyl still sounds better
Heh heh... Yep! 👍😁
Seems like the volume on the Technics playback is noticeably lower. Just me?
🤗 No… it was not just you 😁👍
through my headphones both sound pretty bright (hd600)
The digital comparisons were interesting but I really wish you had volume matched the turntable. The difference in volume level made any real comparison a bit harder. In any case, I like the concept and hope to hear more. Keep up the great work Thomas!
Besides the differences in soundlevel..............differences are perceived even with the limits of YT...............
great comparison. The Technics with the Denon does well. The CS55 is pretty close.
00:00 Denafrip VENUS 2 1:15 Cayin CS100 CD 2:30 Cayin CS55 CD 3:45 Technics SL1200 GL
for me class AB sounded smoother, but perhaps the class A was louder and influenced the result.
